ICC Food Service Pathway class to begin Feb. 15 at Belden Itawamba Community College has scheduled a Food Service Pathway class at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) beginning Feb. 15. Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through Mar. 22. The program includes Serve Safe® Food Manager Certification, Serve Safe® Alcohol Certification, CPR, certificate of completion, proper food handling standards, kitchen safety practices, culinary techniques, interview skills and résumé building, money handling and front of the house and back of the house operations. ICC's Health Sciences Division to host Code Blue and Red event for students from 12 area schools Itawamba Community College’s Health Sciences Division will host a Code Blue and Red event from 8:30 a.m.-noon, Feb. 10, in the Health Science Education Center at the Tupelo Campus. Students from 12 area schools will be on campus in two shifts (8:30 and 10:15 a.m.) to view simulations of three real-life scenarios, said Michael Holloway, director of recruitment and orientation. A North Mississippi Medical Center ambulance will arrive, and the students will see first-hand the need for and the role healthcare professionals play in the process. “It will be an impactful program,” Holloway said, “Our hope is that these students see the ‘real-life’ expertise used by the graduates of ICC’s programs.” Participating programs include students and faculty from Associate Degree Nursing, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Emergency Medical Sciences, Health Information, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Practical Nursing, Public Health, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Care and Surgical Technology. ICC schedules Preparing for the ACT sessions The Continuing Education Department of Itawamba Community College has scheduled several sessions for Preparing for the ACT. All meet on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Math and science sessions include Feb. 4, Apr. 1 and May 20. English and reading are offered Apr. 8 and June 3. ICC’s ACT prep instructors use three intensive classroom review methods in English, reading, science reasoning and math that focus on strategies for improving test-day performance and scores. Those methods include a review of all concepts tested, tips for overcoming test anxiety and guides for “studying smart.” Those who are enrolled have an opportunity to pre-test early and post-test later in the class using full-length ACT practice tests to measure performance and practice for the testing dates. In the hands-on class, participants will learn how to use a meter properly; change and update receptacles; distinguish between different types of switches; switch replacement; locate loose or bad connections; and troubleshooting techniques. It is designed for those who are interested in becoming an electrician’s assistant or want to learn to do very basic electrical wiring for their own use. Spring semester registration continues through Jan. 13 Registration for the 2023 spring semester at Itawamba Community College will continue through Jan. 13 for traditional full-term day and night classes in the Advising Centers on both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses. Hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., weekdays, in the David C. Cole Student Services Building on the Fulton Campus and Academic and Student Center on the Tupelo Campus. Traditional full-term day and first eight-week classes begin Jan. 9; and eLearning full-term and first eight-week classes, Jan. 17. The last day to add eLearning first eight-week classes is Jan. 18, and eLearning full-term classes, Jan. 20. Financial aid is available as well as adult learner scholarships. Academic, career education, eLearning (online) and workforce opportunities are available in an extensive schedule, which includes both day and evening classes at Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. ICC joins in providing new option to earn High School Equivalency Diploma New High School Equivalency Option Available in Mississippi Mississippians who have dropped out of high school have a new option to earn their High School Equivalency (HSE) Diploma, TotalTranscript® offered by DiplomaSender. TotalTranscript® allows those who have previously taken portions of the GED, HiSET or TASC to combine test scores in order to earn an HSE Diploma.
