Registration continues for ICC July orientation sessions It is not too late to register for July orientation sessions that are scheduled for both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses of Itawamba Community College. They include July 19 at 1 p.m. and July 21 at 8:30 a.m. at the Fulton Campus and July 21 at 5 p.m. at the Tupelo Campus. Recent high school graduates are required to participate in one of the sessions; however, they can attend regardless of the location where they plan to enroll in classes. All students, including adult learners, are invited. Among the advantages of attending an orientation session are scheduling classes early and choosing from a wide variety of options, including days, times and instructors. Participants will have an opportunity to connect with other new students as well as to learn more about student life at ICC. ICC to offer Basic PLC - 5/500/Micrologix class at Belden Center Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for a Basic PLC – 5/500/Micrologix class that is scheduled for July 11-14 from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The class is an overview of the application functions of the Allen-Bradley PLC5/500/Micrologix family of programmable controllers and the programming methods using RSLogix 500 programming software. Ladder-logic programming, documenting and online monitoring will be explained. The training, which is designed for new users of the system, will enable them to build knowledge of the PLC and programming software. Cost is $352 per student. May 30 application deadline for ICC selective admission programs May 30 is the deadline for application for four selective admission programs at Itawamba Community College. They include electrical, industrial maintenance, robotics and automation and welding. All are taught at the ICC Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Road). Selective admission programs have a limited number of openings each year and have specific entry-level admission requirements that must be met before selection for admission to the program. ICC Enhanced Forklift Training class to begin May 5 Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for an Enhanced Forklift Operator Training class that is scheduled for May 5 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The class will enable individuals to receive hands-on training on three different classifications of forklifts: Standup Rider (Class 1), Order Selector (Class 2) and LP Gas Powered Sit-Down Forklift (Class 4). Topics include the requirements of the OSHA Powered Industrial Truck Regulation 29 CFR 1910.178, safe-powered industrial truck operation and how forklifts work, identification of operating hazards as well as the general principles of safe operation and how to properly inspect and maintain a forklift. ICC's enhanced Summer Edge program offers tuition free up to six hours and waived fees Itawamba Community College is continuing its Summer Edge program, and the enhanced version will offer all students an opportunity to take up to six credit hours (two three-credit hour classes) with tuition and all fees waived.
