General 0 The application deadline for the Advanced Manufacturing Technician program, which is offered at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center, has been extended through June 1. The AMT program is designed as an innovative manufacturing degree that will span five semesters of classroom instruction and provide paid, hands-0n experience at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi’s Blue Springs automotive assembly plant. The Industrial Maintenance curriculum includes instruction in areas, including electricity, fluid power, mechanics, fabrication and robotics, as well as advanced manufacturing, business principles and best practices. Upon completion of the program, candidates will earn an associate’s degree. In addition to in-depth instruction in manufacturing, the program includes semester-long modules in safety culture, workplace organization, Lean manufacturing, problem-solving and maintenance reliability, It emphasizes attendance, initiative, diligence, verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills and professionalism. Prospective students will be accepted based on academic success as measured through grades, class rank, math capabilities and the ability to work in a team and problem-solving environment. Those who wish to apply must have a current application to ICC on file and specify major in pre-Industrial Maintenance Technology (online application and ICC admission information available at www.iccms.edu), ACT or SAT scores on file at ICC and WorkKeys® test. Related Articles Application deadline approaches for ICC health science programs Itawamba Community College’s School of Health Science programs are designed to prepare individuals for employment in the healthcare field, and the application deadline for fall 2025 is rapidly approaching for 10 of the 11 programs. Students interested in ICC’s Associate Degree Nursing, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Health Information Technology, Occupational Therapy Assistant Technology, Physical Therapist Assistant Technology, Practical Nursing, Public Health Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Care Technology and Surgical Technology must submit their online application and meet the requirements by May 1. According to Tonya Vaughn, Dean of Health Science Instruction, the only exception is Emergency Medical Sciences, which has an application deadline of Aug. 1 for the fall class. “Those who complete ICC’s health science programs earn either a certificate of completion or an Associate of Applied Science degree at the conclusion of their programs,” Vaughn said. “With our sophomores in all programs nearing the end of their study and preparation to enter the workforce, it is both a sad and happy time. We are excited for them as they take their place ... Drive-thru diploma pick up cancelled June 9 due to inclement weather; June 10 and 11 pickup times available Although the traditional ceremony has been postponed, members of Itawamba Community College’s Class of 2020 will have an opportunity to pick up their diplomas June 10 in Tupelo and June 11 in Fulton. The pickup date originally scheduled for the Tupelo Campus on June 9 has been cancelled due to inclement weather. Drive-thru pickup locations and times are June 10, Health Science Education Center, Tupelo Campus, 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m. and June 11, Cypress Pavilion, Fulton Campus, 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Students must present their student ID or driver’s license, and no third-party pick up will be allowed. Members of Phi Theta Kappa can pick up stoles and tassels at either location. The $35 is payable in cash with the correct change or completed check. All Honors College students must pick up their medallions at the Tupelo Campus on June 10 or the Fulton Campus, June 11. All passengers in vehicles are encouraged to wear masks. Diplomas will be mailed to graduates who cannot pick them up on the available dates. ... ICC extends health programs application deadline With the challenges presented by the coronavirus, Itawamba Community College has extended the deadline to May 1 for the submission of applications for several health-related programs at Itawamba Community College. In addition, the new deadline to submit all required documentation for admission, including observation hours, transcripts, ACT scores and proof of certification is June 1. The programs include associate degree nursing, health information technology, licensed practical nursing (August class), occupational therapy assistant technology, physical therapist assistant technology, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy technology and surgical technology, all at the Tupelo Campus. PN class applications Nov. 1 is the deadline for application for a practical nursing class beginning in January 2019 at Itawamba Community College. Upon completion of the 12-month (three semester) program, the graduate will receive a certificate and will be eligible to take the N-CLEX (national board exam) to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Licensed practical nurses work under the direction of registered nurses and physicians. They provide direct patient care including treatments and medication delivery in nursing homes, extended care facilities, hospitals, physician’s offices, schools and private homes.
