• Food Management Certification class beginning Nov. 9 at ICC

  Itawamba Community College will offer a Food Management Certification class beginning Nov. 9 at the Belden Center, 3200 Adams Farm Road. Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Dec. 11. The comprehensive career pathway is designed to prepare participants for immediate employment in food service and hospitality settings. The program includes ServSafe Food Manager and ServSafe Alcohol certifications and a certificate of completion. Instruction covers proper food handling, kitchen safety, culinary techniques, money handling and front-of-house and back-of-house operations. Participants also will develop interview and resume-writing skills. The cost is $1,000. Financial assistance is available for qualified applicants. Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. through March 6. The program includes Serve Safe® Food Manager Certification, Serve Safe® Alcohol Certification, CPR, certificate of completion, proper food handling standards, kitchen safety practices, culinary techniques, interview skills and résumé building, money handling and front of the house and back of the house operations. The cost is $1,000, and financial assistance is available for qualified applicants.
