General 0 Itawamba Community College is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a special event planned for Oct. 14, beginning at 6 p.m. at the West Hall of the Cadence Bank Conference Center in Tupelo. “Throughout the past 75 years, our college has grown into a thriving hub of knowledge, growth and opportunity thanks to the dedication of our exceptional faculty, staff and students,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “The impact of our collective efforts extends far beyond our walls, shaping communities and changing lives worldwide. It is fitting that we host this 75th Diamond Anniversary Gala to acknowledge with gratitude not only the milestones in our history but to celebrate the best that is yet to come.” Proceeds from ticket sales and corporate sponsorships, which are available on multiple levels, will benefit scholarships awarded by the ICC Foundation, Inc. Individual tickets are $75 or $125 per couple. Tickets must be purchased in advance at Gala.iccms.edu or checks payable to the Itawamba Community College Foundation, Inc. can be delivered in person to Michael Upton, director of Advancement, in the David C. ICC announces Cadence Bank’s continued support of its Career Pathways program Itawamba Community College today announced Cadence Bank has continued its long tradition of supporting ICC students with a $15,000 donation to its Career Pathways program. The program connects low-income individuals and adult education students with workforce training to enable them to gain the skills and knowledge necessary for finding employment in a high-demand career field, according to Josh Gammill, director of continuing education at ICC. “As the need for skilled workers becomes more abundant in our community, graduates of Itawamba Community College’s workforce training programs will increase the number of available workers within the community, positively impacting economic development efforts in the region,” he said. Cadence Bank’s donation will be used to pay for the tuition of one of Itawamba Community College’s workforce training pathways, which includes programs such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and EMT-Basic. “ICC staff members communicate with students in this demographic, and while there is interest in the programs, they often do not have the funds necessary to be able to pay for training courses,” Gammill said. President announces retirement plan Itawamba Community College President Mike Eaton has announced that he plans to retire June 30, ending a 43-year career that has included several leadership positions as well as head football coach. He notified the College’s Board of Trustees at its January meeting. “After prayerful consideration over the last six months, I felt it was time to pass the torch to new leadership,” Eaton said. “I have had a wonderful 43 years at the College (21 of those years I lived on campus) and have been greatly blessed. It has been an honor and privilege to serve in various roles throughout my career. I have enjoyed the challenge of being ICC’s President. When you are blessed with such an outstanding, dedicated faculty and staff and Board of Trustees, it makes the job of being the president much easier.” Eaton became the sixth President of ICC on July 1, 2013.
