Career Center, General 0 The Itawamba Community College Continuing Education Department has scheduled several sessions for Preparing for the ACT during the 2024 fall semester. All meet on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.). Math and science sessions include Sept. 7, Oct. 19 and Dec. 7. English and reading are offered Oct. 12 and Nov. 9. ICC’s ACT prep instructors use three intensive classroom review methods in English, reading, science reasoning and math that focus on strategies for improving test-day performance and scores. Those methods include a review of all concepts tested, tips for overcoming test anxiety and guides for “studying smart.” Those who are enrolled have an opportunity to pre-test early and post-test later in the class using full-length ACT practice tests to measure performance and practice for the testing dates. Students must bring their books to all sessions. The cost is $50 per session. Preregistration is required. ICC schedules orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll in summer, fall Itawamba Community College has scheduled orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll for the 2021 summer and fall semesters. Recent high school graduates are required to participate in one of the sessions, which are scheduled for Apr. 12 at 1 p.m. and Apr. 23 and 30 and May 7 at 8:30 a.m., all at the Fulton Campus, and Apr. 16 at 8:30 a.m. at the Tupelo Campus. Additional dates are available in June and July. Students can attend a session regardless of the location they plan to attend. However, all students, including adult learners, are invited. “Among the advantages of attending an orientation session are scheduling classes early and choosing from a wide variety of options, including days, times and instructors and possibly completing the process before graduation from high school,” said Dr. Melissa Haab, dean of enrollment services. “The sessions will also provide an opportunity for adult learners to connect with an adviser and to make the transition to college less intimidating.” ICC orientation is mandatory for all graduating high school seniors.
