    Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands, continues its multimillion-dollar investment in critical workforce programs at community colleges nationwide. • ICC realigns C.O.R.E. Program, launches partnerships with Lee County Sheriff's Office and Tupelo Police Department

  Itawamba Community College has realigned its C.O.R.E. (Candidates on Rapid Entry) Program and announced its first formal partnerships with the Tupelo Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office following an Insight Luncheon held April 2 at the ICC Belden Center. Originally established in 2021 in partnership with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the C.O.R.E. Program has been restructured to strengthen the pipeline of qualified candidates for public safety careers. The event brought together local and state agencies to learn more about the updated program, which is housed within ICC’s criminal justice offerings and provides students with a structured pathway into law enforcement through academic coursework, skills development and direct engagement with agencies. Through the partnership, agencies will provide hands-on instruction and mentorship opportunities, while ICC will equip graduates with comprehensive portfolios documenting skills, credentials and career readiness. “This is workforce development at its best, aligning education with real-world need,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. • ICC kicks off Senior College, Aug. 20

  Itawamba Community College’s fall 2025 session of Senior College will kick off Aug. 20 with a presentation by longtime Itawamba Community College coach and athletic director Carrie Ball-Williamson of Pontotoc, who will share her journey. • ICC's fall Senior College session to kick off Aug. 21 at Belden Center

  Itawamba Community College’s fall session of Senior College will kick off Aug. 21 with a performance by Elvis Presley impersonator Jack Curtis of Tupelo and a celebration of Senior Citizens Day.             Curtis has donned the flashy white jumpsuit, reminiscent of the King of Rock and Roll, to entertain fans at various events. His renditions of Elvis classics like “Love Me Tender” have left a lasting impression on those lucky enough to witness his act. Curtis has been an Elvis Tribute Artist for more than 30 years. He won first place three consecutive years in the “Images of Elvis” regionals and finished in the top five in the finals in Memphis, Tenn. Curtis also performed with a live band and backup singers in the first Tupelo Elvis Festival in 1999. • ICC to partner with Get2College to offer onsite assistance with FAFSA completion

  Itawamba Community College is partnering with Get2College to provide onsite assistance with FAFSA completion, July 17 and 18.             Times and locations are from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., July 17, Academic and Student Center room 231, Tupelo Campus; and July 18, Boggs Humanities Building room 103, Fulton Campus.             The sessions are designed to assist current and incoming students with FAFSA questions and form completion.             Appointments are preferred, according to Terry Bland, director of Financial Aid at ICC, but walk-ins will be accommodated. • ICC ranks among leaders in state enrollment for 2025 fall semester

  Itawamba Community College ranks among the leaders in the state in enrollment, according to figures released this week by the Mississippi Community College Board.                ICC currently shows a 2 percent increase in headcount and a 3.5 percent increase for full-time enrollment from fall 2024 to fall 2025. Most importantly, figures show a 14 percent increase in enrollment since fall 2021, a four-year consecutive enrollment increase. ICC remains the fifth largest community college out of 15 with more than 5,300 credit students enrolled. The continuing increase can be attributed to multiple factors, according to ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. They include recent additional housing opportunities tailored to student needs, including the addition of 240-capacity Magnolia Hall, exclusively for student leaders, and reopening of both Sheffield and Monroe Halls last fall with spaces designed to accommodate the ICC student of today as well as an enhanced emphasis on activities.
