General 0 Itawamba Community College is hosting Coffee Convos at several locations throughout its five-county district to assist high school seniors with admissions, scholarships and housing. Recruiters Taylor Tutor and Jordan Smith will be available to answer questions and for guidance in the application process. The locations include Tupelo River Coffee, Jan. 19, noon-2 p.m.; The Grounds Coffee Shop (ICC-Fulton), Jan. 26, noon-2 p.m.; Blacksmith BBQ in Pontotoc, Jan. 28, noon-2 p.m.; The Coffee Pot in Amory, Feb. 2, noon-2 p.m.; and Gather Coffee and Brew in Houston, Feb. 9, noon-2 p.m. A sign up link is being sent to the students for whom email addresses are available. ICC hosts Emerging Scholars Luncheon to honor exceptional high school seniors High school seniors with a 24+ ACT score will be honored during an Emerging Scholars Luncheon, which begins at 11 a.m., Nov. 17, at the Itawamba Community College Fulton Campus. “The event is an opportunity for the select group of high school seniors to learn more about the academic and involvement opportunities for honor students at ICC,” said Jake Hartfield, director of recruitment and orientation. The schedule includes check in from 10:45-11 a.m. followed by lunch and sessions focusing on opportunities for scholars, Q & A student leader panel and an overview of Phi Theta Kappa and Honors College. Housing and campus tours are optional. “Participants can learn more about a variety of opportunities including scholarships, honors and peer tutoring,” Hartfield said, “and current student leaders will share information about how to balance academic life and involvement.” Due to COVID-19 guidelines, guests are not able to attend with prospective students. ICC provides assistance with FAFSA completion Itawamba Community College is offering an opportunity to assist prospective students with completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students in ICC’s five-county district can make appointments with a financial aid adviser on designated dates, while home-schooled students and adult learners have an option to sign up on Dec. 16. ICC schedules Fall Preview Days for high school seniors High school seniors will have an opportunity to learn about student life at Itawamba Community College through Fall Preview Days, which have been scheduled for both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses. Dates include Oct. 21, Nov. 4 and 12 at the Fulton Campus, and Oct. 22 at the Tupelo Campus. Morning sessions begin with check in at 8 a.m. and close by 12:15 p.m. with optional campus and housing tours from 1-2:30 p.m. Afternoon sessions will begin with check in at 1 p.m. and close by 5:30 p.m. with housing and campus tours from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The opportunity will include information about ICC’s academic, health science and career education programs, and participants will hear directly from faculty within the areas. In addition, a student/faculty panel will discuss how to balance academic and involvement at ICC, and breakout sessions will enable participants to explore different areas of the college, including financial aid, Phi Theta Kappa, student involvement and more. Fall Preview Day attendees will also have free admission for the ICC/Northwest football game at Eaton Field, beginning with a tailgate at 5:30 p.m. They can select from up to two information sessions about ICC’s schools of academics, health science and career education, and participants will hear directly from faculty within the areas. They can choose which schools to attend based on a selected major through the registration link. Attendees will also receive information on involvement at ICC, financial aid/scholarships, housing and residence life, Phi Theta Kappa and honors. Student recruiters will lead the campus and residence hall tours during this event. Although attendance at the football game is optional, two Fall Preview Day guests will have the opportunity to participate in a passing competition for a chance to win a $500 scholarship sponsored by Dr. Pepper.
