• Itawamba Community College receives $100,000 and joins 41 other schools across the US as All Within My Hands' Metallica Scholars Initiative expands in year five

    Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands, continues its multimillion-dollar investment in critical workforce programs at community colleges nationwide. • Youth Bass Tournament registration continues

  Registration is continuing for a Youth Open Bass Tournament sponsored by Itawamba Community College’s Bass Club and scheduled for Oct. 21. The tournament is open to any student in the sixth through twelfth grades. Teams will consist of two students, and the boat captain must be 19 years of age or older. Launch will be at 6:30 a.m. from the Whitten Center in Fulton, and check-in at 2:30 p.m. at the boat ramp. Weigh-in is at 3 p.m. in front of the David C. • ICC Bass Club to sponsor tournament

  The Itawamba Community College Bass Club will sponsor a youth tournament, Apr. 28, at Fulton in conjunction with the city’s Bluegrass, Blues & BBQ Festival.             The tournament is open to any student in the sixth through twelfth grades. Teams will consist of two students, and the boat captain must be 19 years of age or older.  The entry fee is $30 per boat.             Launch will be at safelight from the Beaver Lake ramp, and check-in at 2:15 p.m. at the boat ramp. Participants are to lock through at their own risk. • ICC releases reopening plan for fall; classes to begin as originally scheduled

              Itawamba Community College announced plans today to open its doors for classes for the fall semester on Aug. 17 as originally scheduled as well as provided more details regarding educational delivery methods, student activities and athletics.             The scheduled opening is part of the recommendations from the college’s 21-member Reopening Task Force, which was appointed to examine campus operations, sanitation, student activities, facilities, residence halls, academics and athletics.             “At the onset of COVID-19 in Mississippi, we suspended nearly all in-person operations at ICC, including face-to-face instruction,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “This was a challenging decision; however, we were prepared for the transition to online instruction due to our nationally-recognized eLearning Department and our dedicated faculty. We have since shifted to returning our employees to our facilities, while never ceasing to impede the successes of our past, current and potential students. • ICC formally reopens Monroe, Sheffield Halls during July 30 ceremonies

  Itawamba Community College formally reopened both Monroe and Sheffield Halls during two ribbon-cutting ceremonies at the Fulton Campus today (July 30).             In two weeks, residents will move into Monroe’s now single-occupancy rooms and benefit from the first of a two-phase renovation of Sheffield Hall.             “This morning, we are standing in front of one of our oldest residential facilities, Monroe Hall,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “This building, which consisted of our smallest rooms, housed two students per room. With the complete renovation of this hall, we are now able to offer single occupancy rooms with a shared bathroom for every two rooms. Each floor is customizable to house separated males and females under the same roof, just like Magnolia Hall.”             The $2.2 million renovation of Monroe Hall, which first opened in 1968, was designed with students’ needs and aspirations in mind, Allen said. “The upgraded facilities provide modern amenities, increased comfort and spaces that foster community and collaboration. • ICC appoints reopening plan task force

              Itawamba Community College is actively making plans to safely open its doors for the 2020 fall semester with the appointment of a task force that will examine all options.             The 21 members, which touch all areas of the college, had a virtual organizational meeting on May 18, and its goal is the announcement of a plan on June 15.             “Our goal is to develop guidelines and protocols for the 2020 fall semester while following the guidance of public health officials and take a measured approach in determining how and when to welcome students back to campus and fully resume face-to-face instruction and services,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen.             Approximately 100 administrators, faculty, staff and students will be involved in the process through the task force and additional participation in three breakout committees – Health Standards for Employees, Students and Visitors Proposal (Rilla Jones, Dean of Health Science Instruction); Residence Halls.
