General 0 The Itawamba Community College Bass Club will sponsor a youth tournament, Apr. 28, at Fulton in conjunction with the city’s Bluegrass, Blues & BBQ Festival. The tournament is open to any student in the sixth through twelfth grades. Teams will consist of two students, and the boat captain must be 19 years of age or older. The entry fee is $30 per boat. Launch will be at safelight from the Beaver Lake ramp, and check-in at 2:15 p.m. at the boat ramp. Participants are to lock through at their own risk. Weigh-in is at 3 p.m. in downtown Fulton on the square. Cash and prizes totaling $2,000 will be awarded. Entries and the $30 fee should be brought to a pretournament meeting before blastoff at the ramp at Beaver Lake. ICC's Waters completes MDA's Ambassadors program TZ Waters of Tupelo, lead workforce instructor with Itawamba Community College, is a recent graduate of the Mississippi Development Authority Ambassadors program. The program encourages the development of collaboration skills to address communities’ challenges. One of the goals of the Ambassadors program is to convey to community members how critical teamwork and participation are to a city or town. The program is designed to show a way for communities to become more attractive to employers, families, individuals and visitors. Waters was a part of the Monroe County group, whose project focused on a partnership with six competing financial institutions who partnered with the Monroe Chamber of Commerce to hold homeowner workshops. Their purpose is to educate prospective homeowners about how to purchase a home and to allow them to meet bankers and mortgage specialists who can provide guidance. The Monroe County group also received a $5,000 grant from the MDA Ambassadors program, which will be used as seed money to initiate the ACT WorkKeys® project, which is to provide ACT WorkKeys® tests for high school students in Monroe ... ICC to sponsor innovative dinner and demo series in October Itawamba Community College will sponsor a dinner and demo series at three Tupelo restaurants beginning Oct. 12 at 4:30 p.m. at Forklift with chef Cooper Miller. Additional sessions are scheduled for 5:30 p.m., October 17, at Neon Pig with chef Brooke Ramsey and at 6 p.m., Oct. 24, at Park Heights with chef Tom Lester. “The chefs at each location will provide a demonstration related to the dinner preparation, which will follow,” according to Josh Gammill, ICC director of Continuing Education, which is cosponsoring the series with the Food Management Certification pathway. “The three local restaurants and their executive chefs have created a unique interactive experience for participants,” Gammill said. Limited seating is available. Price per experience is $55 per person or $100 per couple or for the series experience (all three), $150 per person and $275 per couple. “This is an exciting partnership that will not only afford our students, but also the local community an opportunity for an intimate experience with these local chefs,” said Christy Scheuer, Food Management Certification pathway director. “Each of their styles is ...
