They include Eric Gonzalez of Ecru; Maddox Clouse of Houston; Natalie Ryals of Kosciusko; Allyson Johnson, Rilee Maxwell, both of Nettleton; Jamailya Cummings, Marlee Elizabeth-Paige Hoing, Wesley A. May, all of Pontotoc; Yazmeen Alwaisi, Jasmier Coleman, both of Tupelo; Braiden Holcombe and Kent Humphries, both of Vina, Ala. YAZMEEN ALWAISI At ICC, Alwaisi is majoring in pre-law/general studies at ICC, where she is public relations and media officer for Phi Theta Kappa and secretary for the Student Government Association. A Middle College student, Alwaisi is a member of the National Honor Society, Middle College Ambassador and Northeast Mississippi Youth Foundation Historian at Tupelo High School, where she will graduate in May. Her other activities include free youth tutoring and local community service. Holcombe, Ryals selected Mr. and Miss Itawamba Community College 2024-25 Braiden Holcombe of Vina, Ala. and Natalie Ryals of Kosciusko have been elected Mr. and Miss Itawamba Community College for 2024-25. Ryals, who is a graduate of Kosciusko High School, is president of the Student Government Association, Mirror (yearbook) editor, Fashion Tribe executive, game day crew photographer, Baptist Student Union lead team and a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Her other activities include intramural sports at ICC and member of the First Baptist Church of Kosciusko. She plans to transfer to Mississippi State University to work toward her degree in Communications. Her parents are Tracey and Brad Ryals. Registration continues for ICC's Gateway program Registration is continuing for the Gateway program at Itawamba Community College. The program is designed to serve disadvantaged individuals between the ages of 16-24, not currently enrolled in school and/or unemployed or underemployed. Goals are to complete the essential job skills training, obtain a high school equivalency diploma if needed, participate in a paid work experience opportunity, enroll in college or in an occupational or advanced training program, join the military or become employed. All unemployed participants will be placed in a paid work experience internship once the student completes the Essential Job Skills training. According to WIOA Youth Coordinator Sanders Bell, students can start on Monday and possibly have a job by Friday. Enrollments are currently being accepted for participants from all of ICC’s supporting counties, including Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe and Pontotoc. Mar. 21 ICC Spring Preview Day showcases opportunities for high school juniors High school juniors will have an opportunity to learn about student life at Itawamba Community College during Spring Preview Day, Mar. 21, from 9 a.m.-noon at the Davis Event Center on the Fulton Campus. The schedule includes arrival and check-in, 8:15-8:50 a.m.; welcome, 9 a.m.; preview expo and campus tours, 9:15 a.m.; and optional lunch at the dining hall ($7 per person meal ticket), 11 a.m. In addition, a sensory friendly session at 11 a.m. will be sponsored by ICC’s new Bloom program, which is for neurodivergent students who need extra support although they either have a high school diploma or certificate or are looking to gain work credentials through career education. Registration underway for March career pathways at ICC-Belden Registration is underway at Itawamba Community College for two career pathway programs that will begin in March at the Belden Center. They include Certified Nursing Assistant and Food Management Certification. Certified Nursing Assistant, which meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-9 p.m. from March 24-May 28, prepares participants to take the exam to become a CNA. Upon successful completion of the program and examination, nursing assistants can find employment with nursing homes, medical centers, home healthcare providers and clinics. The cost is $526 which includes the required Board License Examination fee. Food Management Certification will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., March 24-April 18. During the hands-on, four-week class, students will learn the essential skills needed to thrive in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Included in the curriculum are both ServSafe® Food Manager and Alcohol certifications, menu planning preparation, assistance with and execution of catered events, résumé/interview skills and front- and back-of-the-house operations. ICC to host 'Evening of the Arts,' March 6 Itawamba Community College will host an “Evening of the Arts,” at 7 p.m., Mar. 6, in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium at the Fulton Campus. The show will feature 10-minute performances including a theatre scene from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” wind ensemble, steel drum ensemble, live art demonstration by Shawn Whittington, CenterStage, Jazz Band and Chamber Singers. The $10 admission ticket also includes a pre-event social at 6 p.m. that will include light appetizers and an opportunity to experience the Steinway and Sons Spirio Piano, which is in residency at ICC for one month. Those who contribute more than $50 during the event will be eligible for a drawing for the live art piece. ICC to present 'A Midsummer Night's Dream" with a twist, Mar. 27-28 Itawamba Community College will present “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Mar. 27 and 28 at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium on the Fulton Campus. The dinner theatre will begin with a meal at 6:30 p.m. followed by the show at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $27 for both or $10 for the show only. According to director Dr. Laurie McBride, “The production is a fun 1970s infused version of Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” with a groovy twist.
