ICC Continuing Education classes set to begin soon

            Registration is underway for several continuing education classes that will begin soon at Itawamba Community College. They include Introduction to Single Board Microcomputers and Microcontrollers, Digital Photography for Beginners, Microsoft Excel for Beginners, Personal Finance and Art – A Basic Approach to Watercolor and Certified Nursing Assistant.             Introduction to Single Board Microcomputers and Microcontrollers will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. from Sept. 10-19. It provides students with basic knowledge and basic concepts of single board computers and controllers. The class is intended for individuals possessing a basic understanding of computers and electricity, targeting both STEM educators and hobbyists. Topics covered include Single Board Computers, Introduction to the Raspberry Pi SBC, Introduction to the Arduino SBC and Basic Setup and Programming with Arduino IDE software. The fee is $100, which includes the Arduino book.             Digital Photography for Beginners is designed for those who have a new SLR camera or want to increase their skill with a camera they already have. Food Management Certification class set to begin Sept. 9 at ICC-Belden

                Registration is underway for a Food Management Certification class that will be offered Sept. 9-October 4 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.                 The class will meet weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.                 Highlights of the hands-on course include both ServSafe® Food Manager and Alcohol Certification, menu planning/preparation, assistance/participation in execution of catered events, résumé/interview skills and both front- and back-of-the-house operations.                 Tuition assistance could be available for those who qualify.                 For more information or to register, call Christy Scheuer, instructor, at (662) 407-1505 or email pathways@iccms.edu.

ICC schedules fall 2024 Preparing for the ACT sessions

The Itawamba Community College Continuing Education Department has scheduled several sessions for Preparing for the ACT during the 2024 fall semester. All meet on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.).                 Math and science sessions include Sept. 7, Oct. 19 and Dec. 7.  English and reading are offered Oct. 12 and Nov. 9.                 ICC’s ACT prep instructors use three intensive classroom review methods in English, reading, science reasoning and math that focus on strategies for improving test-day performance and scores. Those methods include a review of all concepts tested, tips for overcoming test anxiety and guides for “studying smart.” Those who are enrolled have an opportunity to pre-test early and post-test later in the class using full-length ACT practice tests to measure performance and practice for the testing dates. Students must bring their books to all sessions.                 The cost is $50 per session.                 Preregistration is required. Fall 2024 registration continues at ICC

Registration for the 2024 fall semester at Itawamba Community College will continue through Aug. 23 for traditional full-term day and night classes.                  The last day to add eLearning first eight-week classes is Aug. 27, and eLearning full-term classes, Aug. 30. The first day of class for both eLearning full-term and eight-week classes is Aug. 26.                 Financial aid is available, as well as adult learner scholarships.                 Academic, career education, eLearning (online) and workforce opportunities are available in an extensive schedule, which includes both day and evening classes at Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. Instructional delivery methods include face-to-face and online. ICC schedules pathways classes to begin Sept. 10 at Belden Center

Itawamba Community College has scheduled several pathways classes to begin Sept. 10 at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.).                 They include Electrician Assistant, Sept. 10-Oct. 10, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m.; Small Engine Repair, Sept. 10-Nov. 7, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m.; and Introduction to Welding and Cutting, Sept. 10-Oct. 10, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m. Electrician Assistant provides the foundational knowledge of basic math and basic safety rules; the use of hand, measuring and power tools; basic electricity and residential writing. Students can also prepare for entry-level jobs in industry or private businesses. Small Engine Repair Technician enables students to prepare for a career as they develop small engine repair skills, and upon completion, they will be equipped for an entry-level technician position at an existing small engine repair business or to open their own related business.                 Introduction to Welding and Cutting is designed to give students entry-level skills and to prepare them to do basic GMAW and SMAW welding jobs that some industries and small businesses require. Registration continues for ICC adult education classes

Registration for both day and night adult education classes is continuing throughout the Itawamba Community College district.                 The class schedule includes                 Amory – WIN Job Center (1619 Highland Drive), Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.;                 Belden – ICC Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.), Monday and Tuesday, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and 4:30-8:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Thursday, 8 am.-3:30 p.m.;                 Fulton – ICC (Academic Building rooms 212, 217), Monday and Tuesday, 3:30-7:30 p.m.; and                 Pontotoc – WIN Job Center (316 Coffee St.), Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.                 There is no cost for the classes.                 Belden Center evening courses and all WIN Job Centers offer open continuous enrollment.                 GED® and HiSET® testing is continuing on a weekly basis, and all program-enrolled students take the GED® or HiSET® free of charge. ICC formally reopens Monroe, Sheffield Halls during July 30 ceremonies

Itawamba Community College formally reopened both Monroe and Sheffield Halls during two ribbon-cutting ceremonies at the Fulton Campus today (July 30).             In two weeks, residents will move into Monroe’s now single-occupancy rooms and benefit from the first of a two-phase renovation of Sheffield Hall.             “This morning, we are standing in front of one of our oldest residential facilities, Monroe Hall,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “This building, which consisted of our smallest rooms, housed two students per room. With the complete renovation of this hall, we are now able to offer single occupancy rooms with a shared bathroom for every two rooms. Each floor is customizable to house separated males and females under the same roof, just like Magnolia Hall.”             The $2.2 million renovation of Monroe Hall, which first opened in 1968, was designed with students’ needs and aspirations in mind, Allen said. “The upgraded facilities provide modern amenities, increased comfort and spaces that foster community and collaboration. ICC releases fall 2024 continuing education schedule

            Itawamba Community College has announced its schedule of continuing education classes for the 2024 fall semester.             The schedule, according to ICC Continuing Education director Josh Gammill, includes opportunities in several categories: hobbies and personal enjoyment, personal enrichment, professional continuing education, career pathways and senior college.              Gammill said that the class schedule includes both new opportunities as well as those that have been offered before. “We have integrated new classes such as an introduction to single board microcomputers and microcontrollers that join old favorites in the areas of art, cake decorating, photography, ACT prep, sign language and personal finance. Professional continuing education is available for EMS refreshers and engineers and surveyors as well as an extensive schedule of career pathways, or short-term courses, to prepare students for the next step. Registration is continuing for the 2024 fall semester at Itawamba Community College. Entering freshmen, transfer, returning or students who are being readmitted can register at the Advising Centers at either the Fulton or Tupelo campus from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday through August 13. Locations are the David C. Cole Student Services Building on the Fulton Campus and the Academic and Student Center on the Tupelo Campus. In addition, ICC has scheduled open registration opportunities, Aug. 14, 15 and 16.             Options include Aug. 14 from 1-5 p.m. at the Tupelo Campus; Aug. 15 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on the Fulton Campus and 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on the Tupelo Campus; and Aug. 16 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses. Locations are the Academic and Student Center on the Tupelo Campus and the David C.
