ICC's Gray, Stevenson selected for Mississippi Community College Policy Fellows Program Holly Gray of Fulton, Library director, and Chris Stevenson of Fulton, dean of Academic Instruction, have been selected to represent Itawamba Community College as participants in the Mississippi Community College Policy Fellows Program. Gray earned the associate’s degree from ICC, the bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Mississippi, the master’s degree in instructional technology from Mississippi State University, and the master’s degree in library and information science from the University of Alabama. She began her career at ICC in 2016 as librarian and currently serves as library director. Her honors include the ICC Leadership Development Institute, the Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy and service on the MAGNOLIA Advisory Board. Gray is a member of Fulton United Methodist Church and serves on the ICC Wesley Foundation Board. She and her husband, Jim, reside in Fulton and are the parents of two children. ICC to Host Second Annual “Choptoberfest” Tailgate Ahead of Rivalry Game Itawamba Community College will host its second annual Choptoberfest tailgate celebration on Thursday, October 24, beginning at 5 p.m. at the ICC Grove on the Fulton Campus. The family-friendly event will take place ahead of the ICC Indians’ home football matchup against Northeast Mississippi Community College. This year’s Choptoberfest will feature food, music, games and activities for the whole family, creating a festive atmosphere as the ICC community gears up for one of the most spirited events of the year. Pregame festivities for the football game are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at Eaton Field. Earlier in the day, ICC will host its Fall Preview Day, welcoming registered high school seniors from across the region to explore campus, meet with faculty and staff and experience college life firsthand. Tomahawk Marching Band Championship returns this weekend at ICC The annual competition will bring some of the region's most accomplished marching bands together in Fulton. Bands from across the Mid-South will participate in Itawamba Community College’s Tomahawk Marching Band Championship, Oct. 18, at Eaton Field/Butch Lambert Stadium at the Fulton Campus. Due to the threat of potential severe weather, the competition will begin at 8 a.m. The annual event provides an opportunity for bands across the Mid-South to perform in both a competitive and educational environment. Adjudicators from across the nation will critique bands, color guard and percussion with the same caption-based criteria used in the MHSAA State Marching Band Championships, according to ICC All-American Band Director and Fine Arts Division Chair Ryan Todd. TVA donates $30,000 for STEM Lounge at the Tupelo Campus Tennessee Valley Authority has presented $30,000 to Itawamba Community College to continue to advance STEM-related programming. The funds will be used to establish a dedicated STEM Lounge on ICC’s Tupelo Campus, creating a collaborative space for learning, innovation and engagement. “TVA’s generous support helps us build a dynamic environment where students can explore, collaborate and grow in STEM disciplines,” said Dr. Jay Allen, ICC President. “This lounge will become a central hub for hands-on projects, peer mentoring and faculty-student interaction, strengthening our mission to prepare students for high-demand careers.” The donation will be used for furnishing and initial operation of the STEM Lounge. Flexible seating and collaborative design features will encourage teamwork and innovation. Through partnerships and donations, ICC already operates a STEM Lounge on the Fulton Campus. ICC, The W sign MOU to provide educational opportunities for students pursuing sspecific career education programs with desire to earn bachelor's degree Itawamba Community College and Mississippi University for Women signed a memorandum of understanding today [Sept. 19] to provide educational opportunities for students pursuing careers in specific career education programs with a desire to eventually earn a bachelor’s degree. The agreement establishes a pathway by which students earning an appropriate Associate of Applied Science degree from ICC may complete a baccalaureate degree at The W. According to the agreement, both institutions will work together to enroll students in degree completion programs for ICC’s career education graduates. Both colleges will advise and encourage ICC students, alumni and constituents to promote these programs to each institution’s stakeholders and throughout the local community college district. The pathways will provide for students in certain degree areas to transfer up to 90 credit hours to The W after graduating from ICC. Upskill Mid-South offers possible financial assistance for four ICC short-term traning programs Students who enroll in four short-term training programs at Itawamba Community College could have the opportunity for financial assistance through Upskill Mid-South, which is a collaboration with the Three Rivers Planning and Development District and the University of Memphis. The programs include Electrician Assistant, Welding and Cutting, Commercial Truck Driving and Google IT Support, according to Josh Gammill, director of Continuing Education and Career Services. “Upskill Mid-South introduced the initiative to provide targeted training programs aimed at supporting unemployed and underemployed individuals across a 42-county tristate region,” Gammill noted. The program is designed to address critical workforce needs. ICC schedules Fall Preview Day High school seniors will have an opportunity to learn about Itawamba Community College during its Fall Preview Day, which is scheduled for October 23 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center at the Fulton Campus. Fall Preview Day attendees will also have free admission for the ICC/Northeast football game at Eaton Field, beginning with a tailgate at 5 p.m. They can select from up to two information sessions about ICC’s schools of academics, career education and health science, and participants will hear directly from faculty within the areas. They can choose which schools to attend based on a selected major through the registration link. ICC ranks among leaders in state enrollment for 2025 fall semester Itawamba Community College ranks among the leaders in the state in enrollment, according to figures released this week by the Mississippi Community College Board. ICC currently shows a 2 percent increase in headcount and a 3.5 percent increase for full-time enrollment from fall 2024 to fall 2025. Most importantly, figures show a 14 percent increase in enrollment since fall 2021, a four-year consecutive enrollment increase. ICC remains the fifth largest community college out of 15 with more than 5,300 credit students enrolled. The continuing increase can be attributed to multiple factors, according to ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. They include recent additional housing opportunities tailored to student needs, including the addition of 240-capacity Magnolia Hall, exclusively for student leaders, and reopening of both Sheffield and Monroe Halls last fall with spaces designed to accommodate the ICC student of today as well as an enhanced emphasis on activities.
