• ICC's Celebration of Unity programs set for Feb. 4 at both Fulton and Tupelo

   Itawamba Community College’s Student Government Associations and Student Activities have scheduled Celebration of Unity programs at both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses, Feb. 4. The Tupelo Campus program will be at 12:05 p.m. in the student presentation room of the Student Support Center, and the Fulton Campus event will be at 7 p.m. in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium. Juanita Floyd, vice president of finance and administration for the CREATE Foundation and co-author of “Summer of 1969,” will be the speaker for both programs. She has been employed with the Foundation for almost 35 years. The Foundation established the Bernice Gambrell Endowment Fund in the amount of $10,000 to honor both Floyd on her 20th anniversary as well as her mother. She is active in community affairs, serving on several boards. Floyd was the Tupelo PTO President and was selected “Parent of the Year” in 2008. • Price to be featured speaker for ICC's Unity programs, Feb. 16

             Dr. Richard Price of Tupelo, senior minister of the North Green Street Church of Christ, will be the featured speaker for Unity programs in Celebration of Black History Month, Feb. 16, at both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses of Itawamba Community College.             The Tupelo Campus program is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. in the Dining Hall of the Academic and Student Center; and the Fulton Campus program, 6 p.m. in the banquet rooms of the David C. Cole Student Services Building.             Price has also served congregations in Philadelphia, Pa. and Harlem, NY. He has taught at the College of New Rochelle Brooklyn and Harlem campuses in areas of social science. He earned the bachelor’s degree from Livingstone, master’s degree from St. John’s University and the M.A.R.L.A. and D. Min. from New York Theological Seminary. • ICC's Triplett to be featured speaker for Feb. 12 Unity program

  Deon Triplett, coordinator for the Minority Achievement Network for Upward Progression (MANUP) at Itawamba Community College, will be the featured speaker for a Unity Program in celebration of Black History Month, at noon, Feb. 12, at the Itawamba Community College Tupelo Campus in the Academic and Student Center, and at 6 p.m. in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center at the Fulton Campus.             Triplett currently resides in Tupelo with his wife, Lealue Kriscia Triplett, and their sons, Kayden, Kayson and Karson. He earned the associate’s degree from Itawamba Community College, the bachelor’s degree from Blue Mountain Christian University and the master’s degree from Walden University. Prior to joining the ICC family, he was a Mental Health Clinician for Lifecore Health Group in Tupelo. Triplett accepted his call into the ministry at the age of 20 and preached his first sermon at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in 2005. • Itawamba Community College receives $100,000 and joins 41 other schools across the US as All Within My Hands' Metallica Scholars Initiative expands in year five

    Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands, continues its multimillion-dollar investment in critical workforce programs at community colleges nationwide. Among the schools, Itawamba Community College was selected from a competitive pool of applicants to receive $100,000 to transform the futures of students in the community. “It is a tremendous honor for Itawamba Community College to be selected as one of the recipients of the prestigious All Within My Hands grant, which will significantly impact our career education programs, providing funding for students to pursue a pathway and their best start,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “It is another indication of the success of the College and reinforcement of the mission that students and their success are our top priority.” The Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI) was launched in 2019 by Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands (AWMH), in partnership with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). • SGAs schedule Celebration of Unity programs

  Itawamba Community College’s Student Government Associations have scheduled Celebration of Unity programs at both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses this month.             The Fulton Campus program will be at 7 p.m., Feb. 20, in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium, and the Tupelo Campus event will be at noon, Feb. 22, at the Student Support Center.             Amory native Hozay Hausley will be the speaker for the Fulton Campus event and will perform with ICC’s Gospel Sounds. He is president and vice president of Renasant Bank in Aberdeen, where he has been employed for 17 years. He earned the associate’s degree from Itawamba Community College and the bachelor’s degree from Mississippi University for Women and is a graduate of four banking schools. Among his community memberships are the Monroe County Industry Board executive committee, Amory Gilmore Regional Hospital Board, Mcfarland Foundation committee and Monroe County Chamber of Commerce.
