General 0 Twelve Itawamba Community College sophomores have been selected as members of the prestigious Hall of Fame for 2016-17. They include Scott Dunahue, Serenity Hawkins, both of Saltillo; Jennifer Finnie of Nettleton; Margaret Hatcher, Taylor Kelley, Allysa Lipsey, Noah Tackitt, all of Pontotoc; Robert Lampkin of Hamilton; Taylor McKnight of Ecru; Adrian Moffett, Jared Shields, both of Becker; and Rita “Nicole” Sumerel of Mooreville. Dunahue is majoring in nursing at ICC, where he is a Dean’s List scholar and a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He is married to Laken Dunahue and is the son of Donald and Lynn Dunahue. A practical nursing major at ICC, Finnie is a Dean’s List scholar. She is the daughter of Jonie Gilbert and Johnny Foy and is married to Kenneth Finnie. Hatcher is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the Modern Foreign Language Club and the Baptist Student Union. Her honors include Communications Division award and a President’s List scholar. She is majoring in English. Her parents are Tonya and Scott Hatcher. Hawkins, who is majoring in social work, is a member of the Indian Delegation, secretary of the Student Government Association, recording secretary of Phi Theta Kappa, peer tutor in the Student Success Center and consultant for the Writing Center. Her honors are Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior and Community Colleges and the All-Mississippi Academic Team second team. She is the daughter of Timothy Hawkins and Amanda Scates. A communications major at ICC, Kelley is a member of Indian Delegation, Orientation Leader, Student Government Association officer and member of the Science Club and Baptist Student Union. Her honors are Phi Theta Kappa and a President’s List scholar. Her parents are Shane and Patricia Kelley. Lampkin is majoring in computer networking and programming. His honors include Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior and Community Colleges and President’s List scholar. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the Computer Programming and Networking Association. His parents are Kyle Lampkin and Judy Lampkin. Lipsey, who is majoring in secondary mathematics education, is a member of Indian Delegation, Chieftain staff, All-American Band and the academic, enrollment and judicial committees as well as a peer tutor. Her honors include Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior and Community Colleges, President’s List scholar, All-Mississippi Academic Team second team, Phi Theta Kappa and Student Government Association president. She is the daughter of Tammy and Micheal Lipsey. A business marketing major, McKnight is a member of Indian Delegation and Phi Theta Kappa. His honors include Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior and Community Colleges and President’s List scholar. He is the son of Ronald and Karla McKnight. Moffett is majoring in industrial technology. His activities include Indian Delegation, Phi Theta Kappa, Baptist Student Union, resident assistant, Political Science Club and Orientation Leader. Moffett’s honors are Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior and Community Colleges, Political Science award, Phi Theta Kappa Regional Secretary and ACT Incentive Scholar. He is the son of Ken Moffett and Stephanie Moffett. Shields is majoring in radio and television communication. His activities are Film Club, drama production, Phi Theta Kappa, Modern Language Club, All-American Marching Band Chieftain staff and the Writing Center. Shields’ honors include President’s List scholar, Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior and Community Colleges, Theatre Department and Modern Foreign Language awards and ICC creative writing screenplay selected for Mississippi Creative Writing competition. He is the son of Margaret Shields and the late Jeff Shields. A forestry technology major, Sumerel is a Diamond Girl and member of the Forestry Club at ICC. Her honors include Positively ICC, Forestry Technology award and Dean’s List scholar. She is the daughter of Michael and Wanda Sumerel. Tackitt is majoring in mathematics. His honors include treasurer of both the Student Government Association and Phi Theta Kappa and President’s List scholar. He also participates in intramurals. His parents are Kristi Tackitt and Paul Tackitt. ICC faculty and staff nominate members of the Hall of Fame each January. Qualifications include freshman and sophomore work at ICC and current enrollment in 12 or more semester hours with an overall GPA of 2.5 or better. Criteria for selection are active in college activities, good attitude toward students and staff; loyalty and service to the institution, initiative, reliability, leadership and character. The Hall of Fame is featured in the 2017 ICC yearbook, Mirror. ICC selects 2020 Alumnus of the Year, Athletic Hall of Fame inductees Itawamba Community College has selected its Alumnus of the Year and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees for 2020. The honorees include Jim Mounce of Tupelo, Alumnus of the Year, and Kenneth “Kebo” Davis of Okolona and Tyson Lee of Germantown, Tenn., Athletic Hall of Fame. A native of Ecru, Mounce is a 1964 graduate of Itawamba Junior College. During his two years, he was a member of the football team, the baseball team, sophomore class president and class favorite, cutest. His educational background also includes the bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi; juris doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law and the master’s degree from Bellevue University. From 1969-85, Mounce practiced law in Tupelo, and from 1985-2000, he chief operating officer for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society and president, CEO and chairman of the board for Woodmen Life from 2000 until he retired in 2009. Alumnus of the Year, Athletic Hall of Fame nominations Nominations are being accepted for the 2017 Alumnus of the Year and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees at Itawamba Community College through Aug. 11. Those selected will be honored during homecoming activities Oct. 28 at the Fulton Campus. Criteria for selection for Alumnus of the Year include successful completion of at least one semester as a full-time student at ICC five years prior to the current year and merit and achievement which have brought fame and honor to either his/her community or ICC. ICC’s Athletic Hall of Fame honors former athletes, coaches or individuals who have excelled or those who have made major contributions to intercollegiate athletics while attending or employed by ICC. Athletic Hall of Fame inductees must have been out of school at least 10 years. Additional criteria to be considered are accomplishments and support of ICC. The two inductees or a family member if the honoree is deceased must attend the recognition ceremony. Nominations can be made by any ICC alumnus.
