General 0 Twelve Itawamba Community College sophomores have been selected as members of the prestigious Hall of Fame for 2022-23. They include and Kelly Barnett, Anthony Reece Cantrell, both of Amory; Lori Leachman of Bruce; Emma Grace Allen, Hayden Campbell, both of Fulton; Emory Reinhard of Mantachie; Eli Harlow of Pontotoc; Lexi Tabbs of Red Bay, Ala., Madison Collins of Shannon; Noah Jones of Smithville; and Jamarious “Jay” Salters and Mae Young, both of Tupelo. At ICC, Allen’s activities have included Indian Delegation president, Orientation Leader, Food Pantry representative, Resident Assistant and a member of the Baptist Student Union Leadership Team, The Global Experience, Fashion Tribe, STEM Club, The Wesley Foundation, Phi Theta Kappa, Honors College, Science Club and Wesley Foundation. Among her honors are Dean’s List, Freshman and Sophomore Homecoming Maid and first runner-up in ICC’s Most Beautiful Pageant. A pre-med (biology) major, Allen is also involved in college ministry and youth group at Bethel Baptist Church. She is the daughter of Dr. Jay and Belinda Allen. Barnett, who is majoring in Business and Marketing Management Technology, is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Her honors include the President’s List. Campbell is majoring in Civil Engineering at ICC, where he is president of the Baptist Student Union and member of Phi Theta Kappa. He is a member of Tremont First Baptist Church. His parents are Jason and Beth Campbell. At ICC, Cantrell is majoring in Political Science. His activities and honors include Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Kappa Delta, Political Science Club, Orientation Leader, Student Activities Board, Honors College, Fashion Tribe and host of The Voice 2022. He also participates in the Work-Study program. Cantrell’s other activities are internship at Renasant Bank and active member of the Amory Church of Christ. He is the son of Andy and Kendal Cantrell. Collins is majoring in Nursing at ICC, where her activities and honors have included Phi Theta Kappa, All-American Marching Band and President’s List. She is children’s choir director, a member of both the Praise Team and activities committee and volunteer with Life Recovery Ministry, all at By Faith Baptist Church. Her parents are Mary Collins and Matt Collins. Harlow is majoring in Electrical Technology at ICC. He is a member of Green Valley Baptist Church, where he assists with leading a high school boys’ group. His other activities include member of Anchored, a contemporary Christian music band. He is the son of Dana Harlow. At ICC, Jones is majoring in Nursing. His activities and honors include Mississippi Organization for Associate Degree Nursing Students, Nurses’ Christian Fellowship, Phi Theta Kappa, class representative and a student representative for the Educational Resources Committee for the Associate Degree Nursing program. He is a member of House of Prayer Baptist Church in Amory. His parents are Brad and Tanya Jones. A Speech Language Pathology major at ICC, Leachman is a member of the Honors College and Student Activities Board, vice president of scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa and Honors College representative for the student-led Food Pantry. She attends Grace Baptist Church in Guntown. Her parents are Patsy Kellum and Loy Leachman Jr. Reinhard is majoring in Elementary Education at ICC, where her activities and honors include Indian Delegation, Sigma Kappa Delta president, Fulton Campus Student Government Association president, Fashion Tribe backstage executive, English Supplementary Instruction Leader, Trading Post executive chair, Honors College, Phi Theta Kappa chapter and regional officer, Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar, Coca-Cola Academic Team Member and Mississippi Honors Conference oral presentation winner. She is a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Her parents are Jill and John Reinhard. Salters is a senior in the Middle College program at Tupelo High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society and National Society of High School Scholars. He is majoring in political science at ICC, where he is president of the Tupelo Campus Student Government Association and a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Fashion Tribe and Indian Delegation. His honors include selection as a recipient of WTVA’s I See A Leader award. Salters is also a member of the Northeast Mississippi Youth Foundation and attends church services at the Temple of Compassion and Deliverance. He is the son of Miyoshia and Sylvester Salters. Tabbs is a Nutrition/Dietetics major at ICC, where her activities and honors include Food Pantry committee, Indianettes Dance choreography captain, Indian Delegation secretary, Phi Theta Kappa president, Wesley lead team, Fashion Tribe social media executive, Honors College member, Most Beautiful second alternate, All-Mississippi Academic Team, Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise and President’s List. She attends Freewill Baptist Church in Red Bay where she is involved with the college age group and the choir. Her parents are Brandie and Jamie Miller and Eric Tabbs. An English Education major at ICC, Young is president of the Phi Theta Kappa Beta Tau Sigma Chapter and a Supplemental Instruction Leader. She is also a president’s list scholar. Her other activities include nursery attendant at West Jackson Street Baptist Church. She is the daughter of Benjamin and Angie Young. ICC's Salinas selected for prestigious Delta Scholars Program Itawamba Community College sophomore Diana Salinas of Golden has been selected for the prestigious 2021 Delta Scholars Program. The Delta Scholars Summer Institute is a 10-day immersion program during which students will work to identify an issue of inequality or injustice in which they are interested and develop a proposal for a project that will promote dialogue and change around that issue in their own communities or the state of Mississippi. Salinas and the other students will spend the first portion of the program at the Shackouls Honors College at Mississippi State University, where they will engage with faculty and guest lecturers from a range of disciplines to learn about issues currently challenging the people and the economy of Mississippi, including food insecurity, public health, education and more. Substantive lessons designed to teach students about the workings and impact of different systems in the Delta will be intermixed with skills-based workshops designed to give students the planning, research and advocacy skills necessary to begin developing their independent projects.
