Although anyone is welcome on the study tour, students who opt to travel earn three hours of credit in a Humanities I course. ICC Travel Tribe schedules Italy study abroad tour in May Itawamba Community College’s Travel Tribe will embark on a mini-study abroad tour of Italy next May, and a limited number of spots are available. The eight-day tour (May 18-25) includes Rome and Florence. Highlights are Vatican City, Roman Forum and Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Spanish Steps in Rome and Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio, Basilica of Santa Croce, Gates of Paradise and Accademia in Florence. In late summer, cosponsor Jessi Stevenson joined college travel representatives from across the United States in Paris, France for a five-day training session. The Orientation and Development Seminar with EF Tours will enable Stevenson and cosponsor Dr. Edana Nail and Dean Chris Stevenson to better lead educational and travel initiatives, such as the upcoming tour of Italy. Stevenson said that EF led training seminars each morning and daily walking tours of the city each afternoon. As a result, Stevenson said that she “feels much more knowledgeable about touring internationally.” Stevenson, who first traveled to Paris as an ICC student in 1999 while earning course credit for English Literature, said the trip “sparked a ... ICC's Nursing students have opportunity to benefit from Women's Foundation of Mississippi grant Students in Itawamba Community College’s Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing programs will have an opportunity to benefit from a significant grant from the Women’s Foundation of Mississippi. The $40,000 Access to Opportunity – Training and Graduating a Healthcare Workforce for Mississippi grant will be divided between the ADN and PN programs based on relative program enrollments, said Rilla Jones, dean of Health Science Instruction. This year, 31 ADN and 19 PN students will receive funds. Students in their final year/semester of their nursing program will be informed of this grant during the beginning of the fall semester, Jones said. Those who would like to be considered for the grant will complete an application and sign a consent form for FAFSA data to be accessed. Selection will be based on lowest estimated financial contribution and income level and the most number of dependents. ICC's Travel Tribe sets Ignite the Fight 5K, Oct. 26 Itawamba Community College’s Travel Tribe is inviting everyone to lace up their running shoes and participate in its Ignite the Fight 5K to raise awareness for breast cancer research and money for its program. The glow run will begin at 6 p.m., Oct. 26, at the Fulton Campus Cypress Pavilion. Awards will be given in multiple divisions. Those who preregister by the Oct. 15 deadline will receive a t-shirt. Packet pick up will be Oct. 25 from 2-4 p.m. or race day, from 5-5:30 p.m. The preregistration fee is $25, or race day, $30. Ghost runners are also welcome. ICC's enhanced Summer Edge program offers tuition free up to six hours and waived fees Itawamba Community College is continuing its Summer Edge program, and the enhanced version will offer all students an opportunity to take up to six credit hours (two three-credit hour classes) with tuition and all fees waived. Classes include both online and face-to-face. “Itawamba Community College is committed to student success and has worked diligently over the past two years to ensure all students are receiving the resources they need to be successful,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “We feel that this is a significant opportunity to reengage/engage students who continue to experience economic barriers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ICC schedules registration opportunity, orientation sessions beginning in November Adult learners, transfer students and those who are being readmitted can register for the 2023 spring semester at Itawamba Community College beginning Nov. 16. December 22 high school graduates will have an opportunity to register during special orientation sessions, Nov. 17 and Dec. 8, at 1 p.m., at the Tupelo Campus. “Orientation for December graduates is a valuable first step toward a successful college career, and ICC offers it at no cost to provide the best start for our students,” said Michael Holloway, director of recruitment and orientation. It is an opportunity for students to learn about ICC, schedule their classes, take their ID photo and begin to prepare for the college transition.
