• ICC schedules adult education orientation sessions at Belden, Pontotoc

  Itawamba Community College will enroll new adult education students at orientations at the Belden Center, Sept. 30, and the Pontotoc WIN Center, Oct. 1. The sessions at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) will include day classes – individuals 18+ years of age, 9 a.m. and those 16-17 years old, 1 p.m.; and evening classes – all ages, 4:30 p.m. Individuals over the age of 16 are invited to register at Pontotoc beginning at 1:30 p.m. Participants must have a photo ID, and 16-/17-year-olds should be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a withdrawal form from the most recent school attended. Belden Center classes include Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. Entry into the adult education area is across from the WIN Job Center at ICC-Belden.   Itawamba Community College will enroll new adult education students with a three-day orientation session, Apr. 5-7, at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Road).             Each session will begin at 8:30 a.m. Participants must have a photo ID, and 16-/17-year-olds should be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a withdrawal form from the most recent school attended.   Itawamba Community College will enroll new adult education students at the Belden Center during two orientation sessions on July 10. The first, which is at 9 a.m., will be for individuals who are 16- or 17-years old; and the second, at 1 p.m., will include those who are 18 and older. Participants must have a photo ID, and 16-/17-year-olds should be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a withdrawal form from the most recent school attended.             Entry into the adult education area is across from the WIN Job Center at ICC-Belden.             Day and evening classes are offered at ICC-Belden as well as in Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe and Pontotoc counties.             There is no cost for the classes.             The ESL program, Belden Center evening courses and all WIN Job Centers offer open, continuous enrollment.             GED and HiSET testing is continuing on a weekly basis, and all program-enrolled students take the GED or HiSET free of charge.   Itawamba Community College has scheduled orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll for the 2021 summer and fall semesters.             Recent high school graduates are required to participate in one of the sessions, which are scheduled for Apr. 12 at 1 p.m. and Apr. 23 and 30 and May 7 at 8:30 a.m., all at the Fulton Campus, and Apr. 16 at 8:30 a.m. at the Tupelo Campus. Additional dates are available in June and July. Students can attend a session regardless of the location they plan to attend. However, all students, including adult learners, are invited.             “Among the advantages of attending an orientation session are scheduling classes early and choosing from a wide variety of options, including days, times and instructors and possibly completing the process before graduation from high school,” said Dr. Melissa Haab, dean of enrollment services. “The sessions will also provide an opportunity for adult learners to connect with an adviser and to make the transition to college less intimidating.”             ICC orientation is mandatory for all graduating high school seniors.
