20 October ICC to Host Second Annual “Choptoberfest” Tailgate Ahead of Rivalry Game October 20, 2025 By Camp, Tyler W General 0 Itawamba Community College will host its second annual Choptoberfest tailgate celebration on Thursday, October 24, beginning at 5 p.m. at the ICC Grove on the Fulton Campus. The family-friendly event will take place ahead of the ICC Indians’ home football matchup against Northeast Mississippi Community College. This year’s Choptoberfest will feature food, music, games and activities for the whole family, creating a festive atmosphere as the ICC community gears up for one of the most spirited events of the year. Pregame festivities for the football game are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at Eaton Field. Earlier in the day, ICC will host its Fall Preview Day, welcoming registered high school seniors from across the region to explore campus, meet with faculty and staff and experience college life firsthand. In addition, the Office of Alumni and Foundation will welcome back ICC alumni from football, cheer and band programs whose graduation years end in “5” for the evening’s festivities. “It has quickly become one of our favorite traditions,” said Dr. Jay Allen, president of Itawamba Community College. “Choptoberfest brings together our students, employees, alumni and community while bridging generations through pride in this institution and all it represents.” The event is open to the public, and admission to Choptoberfest is free. Related Articles ICC to host free Red Zone Tailgate, Sept. 5 Itawamba Community College will host a free Red Zone Tailgate, Sept. 5, prior to the Indians’ home-opener football game with Pearl River. The schedule includes 4 p.m., Indian Spirit Walk (cheer the football team on their way to Lambert Stadium); 5 p.m., cookout sponsored by ICC’s Alumni and Foundation with Kids’ Zone activities; 6:30 p.m., pregame Freshman Run; and 7 p.m., kickoff at Eaton Field. Sophomore members of the ICC football team and cheerleaders will be recognized during the pregame activities, and members of the All-American Band, at halftime. All pregame events are free and open to the public. Additional pregame events scheduled during home football games include Sept. 12, ICC vs. East Central, All-American Heroes Night; Sept. 26, ICC vs. Mississippi Delta, ICC Jamboree (music and art festival) and Oct. 31, ICC vs. Northwest, Choptoberfest. ICC C.O.R.E. program to host C.O.R.E. games Dec. 18-20 Itawamba Community College’s Candidates on Rapid Entry (CORE) cadets will host the C.O.R.E. games at the Fulton Campus, December 18-20, in the eLearning Building, which is on the west side of the David C. Cole Student Services Building parking lot on West Main Street. Included will be drills which could involve “gunfire” and testing other components of the responsibilities of the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Also, scenarios will be set up in ICC parking lots, and external law enforcement vehicles will be on campus. The event, which is closed to the public, is only a demonstration. ICC to Host Annual Emerging Scholars Luncheon for High School Seniors Itawamba Community College will host its annual Emerging Scholars Luncheon on Thursday, November 13, on the Fulton Campus, providing an exclusive opportunity for high school seniors with an ACT score of 24 or higher to explore ICC’s honors-level academic and involvement opportunities. Designed for exceptional students eager to challenge themselves academically and grow as leaders, the Emerging Scholars Luncheon offers a firsthand look at ICC’s Honors College, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the wide range of academic pathways available. The event will feature presentations on ICC’s Honors College and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, roundtable discussions with faculty from the College’s ten schools of academics and a student leader panel highlighting ways to balance academic excellence and campus involvement. Participants will also enjoy lunch, campus tours and the opportunity to hear from guest speaker and ICC alumnus Hayden Plunkett, a physician assistant in orthopedic surgery at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center in Tupelo. ICC to Host Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Dec. 2 Itawamba Community College will usher in the holiday season with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at Crane Pavilion on the Fulton Campus, a tradition that brings together students, employees, families and community members for a festive evening. The outdoor celebration will showcase performances from the ICC Choir, Indianettes and Color Guard, along with seasonal selections by student soloists Crissen McCoy, Sarah Brown and Siera Lochala. The evening will wrap up with a visit from Santa, a flurry of snow and the official lighting of the campus Christmas tree. Additional festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with free hot chocolate and popcorn provided by the Student Government Association. The ICC Library will help children write letters to Santa, and every child who participates will receive a reply.
