• ICC to host free Red Zone Tailgate, Sept. 5

  Itawamba Community College will host a free Red Zone Tailgate, Sept. 5, prior to the Indians’ home-opener football game with Pearl River.             The schedule includes 4 p.m., Indian Spirit Walk (cheer the football team on their way to Lambert Stadium); 5 p.m., cookout sponsored by ICC’s Alumni and Foundation with Kids’ Zone activities; 6:30 p.m., pregame Freshman Run; and 7 p.m., kickoff at Eaton Field. Sophomore members of the ICC football team and cheerleaders will be recognized during the pregame activities, and members of the All-American Band, at halftime.             All pregame events are free and open to the public.             Additional pregame events scheduled during home football games include Sept. 12, ICC vs. East Central, All-American Heroes Night; Sept. 26, ICC vs. Mississippi Delta, ICC Jamboree (music and art festival) and Oct. 31, ICC vs. Northwest, Choptoberfest. • ICC to Host Second Annual “Choptoberfest” Tailgate Ahead of Rivalry Game

  Itawamba Community College will host its second annual Choptoberfest tailgate celebration on Thursday, October 24, beginning at 5 p.m. at the ICC Grove on the Fulton Campus. The family-friendly event will take place ahead of the ICC Indians’ home football matchup against Northeast Mississippi Community College. This year’s Choptoberfest will feature food, music, games and activities for the whole family, creating a festive atmosphere as the ICC community gears up for one of the most spirited events of the year. Pregame festivities for the football game are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at Eaton Field. Earlier in the day, ICC will host its Fall Preview Day, welcoming registered high school seniors from across the region to explore campus, meet with faculty and staff and experience college life firsthand. • ICC celebrates 75th anniversary with Sept. 28 community tailgate

    Itawamba Community College will host a 75th anniversary celebration and community tailgate, Sept. 28, prior to the Indians’ football game with Northwest Mississippi Community College.                 The schedule includes 4 p.m., Indian Spirit Walk (cheer the football team on their way to Lambert Stadium); 5 p.m., community tailgate with food trucks and free Kids’ Zone activities; 6:30 p.m., pregame show with the ICC All-American Marching Band; and 7 p.m., kickoff at Eaton Field.                 According to event organizer Nina Strother, director of Marketing and Community Engagement, a designated area will be set up for tailgating, however, those who wish to participate must be set up before 3:30 p.m. One table and two chairs are available per 10 x 10 tent.                 All events are open to the public.                 For more information, contact Strother at 662.862.8242 or njstrother@iccms.edu.
• ICC to honor All-American Heroes, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. football game

  Both past and current members of the armed forces, first responders and healthcare professionals will be honored during Itawamba Community College’s All-American Heroes Night, Sept. 12, at Lambert Stadium/Eaton Field at the Fulton Campus during ICC’s football game with East Central Community College, which begins at 7 p.m.             Special activities will include a salute during halftime featuring ICC’s All-American Marching Band and a magnificent fireworks display. Admission is free to all past and current armed forces members and healthcare professionals, first responders and their families. • Community Tailgate contest set for Sept. 27

  Area residents are invited to participate in a tailgate contest on the lawn of the Davis Event Center at the Fulton Campus of Itawamba Community College, beginning at 4:30 p.m., Sept. 27.             Entries, which must have three tailgate leaders, will be judged on creativity, pride, food and atmosphere. Winners of best atmosphere, best food, most spirit and best overall will be announced at 6 p.m. The award for best overall will be presented at Eaton Field during ICC’s football game with Northeast Mississippi Community College.             Each tailgate will include one 10 x 10 space for a personal tent and items. • Itawamba Community College receives $100,000 and joins 41 other schools across the US as All Within My Hands' Metallica Scholars Initiative expands in year five

    Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands, continues its multimillion-dollar investment in critical workforce programs at community colleges nationwide. Among the schools, Itawamba Community College was selected from a competitive pool of applicants to receive $100,000 to transform the futures of students in the community. “It is a tremendous honor for Itawamba Community College to be selected as one of the recipients of the prestigious All Within My Hands grant, which will significantly impact our career education programs, providing funding for students to pursue a pathway and their best start,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “It is another indication of the success of the College and reinforcement of the mission that students and their success are our top priority.” The Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI) was launched in 2019 by Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands (AWMH), in partnership with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).
