• ICC's fall Senior College session to kick off Aug. 21 at Belden Center

  Itawamba Community College’s fall session of Senior College will kick off Aug. 21 with a performance by Elvis Presley impersonator Jack Curtis of Tupelo and a celebration of Senior Citizens Day.             Curtis has donned the flashy white jumpsuit, reminiscent of the King of Rock and Roll, to entertain fans at various events. His renditions of Elvis classics like “Love Me Tender” have left a lasting impression on those lucky enough to witness his act. Curtis has been an Elvis Tribute Artist for more than 30 years. He won first place three consecutive years in the “Images of Elvis” regionals and finished in the top five in the finals in Memphis, Tenn. Curtis also performed with a live band and backup singers in the first Tupelo Elvis Festival in 1999. • ICC's Triplett to be featured speaker for Feb. 12 Unity program

  Deon Triplett, coordinator for the Minority Achievement Network for Upward Progression (MANUP) at Itawamba Community College, will be the featured speaker for a Unity Program in celebration of Black History Month, at noon, Feb. 12, at the Itawamba Community College Tupelo Campus in the Academic and Student Center, and at 6 p.m. in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center at the Fulton Campus.             Triplett currently resides in Tupelo with his wife, Lealue Kriscia Triplett, and their sons, Kayden, Kayson and Karson. He earned the associate’s degree from Itawamba Community College, the bachelor’s degree from Blue Mountain Christian University and the master’s degree from Walden University. Prior to joining the ICC family, he was a Mental Health Clinician for Lifecore Health Group in Tupelo. Triplett accepted his call into the ministry at the age of 20 and preached his first sermon at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in 2005. From 2014-22, he served as senior pastor at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Hamilton, and he now is Lead Pastor at The Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Aberdeen. • Price to be featured speaker for ICC's Unity programs, Feb. 16

             Dr. Richard Price of Tupelo, senior minister of the North Green Street Church of Christ, will be the featured speaker for Unity programs in Celebration of Black History Month, Feb. 16, at both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses of Itawamba Community College.             The Tupelo Campus program is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. in the Dining Hall of the Academic and Student Center; and the Fulton Campus program, 6 p.m. in the banquet rooms of the David C. Cole Student Services Building.             Price has also served congregations in Philadelphia, Pa. and Harlem, NY. He has taught at the College of New Rochelle Brooklyn and Harlem campuses in areas of social science. He earned the bachelor’s degree from Livingstone, master’s degree from St. John’s University and the M.A.R.L.A. and D. Min. from New York Theological Seminary. • ICC's Sept. 28 Fall Preview Day designed for high school seniors

  High school seniors will have an opportunity to learn about Itawamba Community College during its Fall Preview Day, which is scheduled for September 28 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the Fulton Campus.                 Fall Preview Day attendees will also have free admission for the ICC/Northwest football game at Eaton Field, beginning with a tailgate at 5:30 p.m.                 They can select from up to two information sessions about ICC’s schools of academics, health science and career education, and participants will hear directly from faculty within the areas. They can choose which schools to attend based on a selected major through the registration link. Attendees will also receive information on involvement at ICC, financial aid/scholarships, housing and residence life, Phi Theta Kappa and honors. • ICC's Griffith to present "Music: A Uniquely Human Experience," Feb. 6

              Christy Colburn Griffith of Amory, recipient of Itawamba Community College’s Mississippi Humanities Teacher Award for 2024, will present “Music: A Uniquely Human Experience,” Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium at the Fulton Campus.             “Music does more than just make sounds,” Griffith said. “It changes the way people think and behave. The skills learned in music will help students be successful on the stage, in the classroom and for the rest of their lives. Music is a human experience, and it plays an important role in educating the entire person.”             Griffith will be among those honored at the Mississippi Humanities Council Awards Ceremony in March at the Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson. • ICC's Forestry program, Student Activities to celebrate Arbor Day with special Feb. 13 ceremony

  Itawamba Community College’s Forestry Technology program and Student Activities will celebrate Arbor Day at 9 a.m., February 13, with a special ceremony on the Fulton Campus. The public is invited.             “Thanks to the Mississippi Forestry Commission and Walton’s Greenhouse, three 15-gallon trees, including an Eastern Redbud, Chinese Fringetree and Sweet Bay Magnolia will be planted to replace those that have been removed because of weather damage or age,” said Emily Loden-Jones, Forestry Technology instructor.             The event will be in front of a ceremonial tree of love, a large water oak in the courtyard area between the eLearning Building and Community Relations. Loden-Jones said that students, faculty, staff, alumni and Early Learning participants are invited to complete Valentine Day hearts including why they love ICC or if they met their sweethearts at the college, and they will be collected and hung on the tree.
