General 0 Michael Upton of Tupelo has joined the Itawamba Community College staff as Director of Advancement. His previous professional work includes serving as Major Gift Officer/Regional Philanthropy Officer for the Red Cross of Mississippi. Prior to that, he was Director of Development for several areas, including the University Libraries, Center for the Study of Southern Culture, Gertrude C. Ford Center for Performing Arts, University Museum and Historic Houses and the School of Applied Sciences. A graduate of ICC, Upton earned both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Mississippi. Upton will oversee and direct all functions of both the Foundation and Alumni Association through identifying, cultivating, soliciting and managing fundraising, events and principal relationships. “I am confident that Michael brings a wealth of philanthropy experience that will prove to be beneficial to both the ICC Foundation and Alumni Association,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. Gore named MACCC Sports Information Director of the Year Itawamba Community College Sports Information Director and Director of Media Relations Adam Gore has been named the 2026 Sports Information Director of the Year by the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC). The award recognizes outstanding leadership and service in athletic communications among Mississippi’s community colleges. Gore joined ICC in 2010 as the college’s first Assistant Sports Information Director and was promoted to Sports Information Director and Director of Media Relations in 2014. Since then, he has helped increase the visibility of ICC Athletics through innovative storytelling, digital media and strategic communications. “Adam has dedicated his career to telling the stories of our student-athletes, coaches and programs,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “His passion for ICC, commitment to excellence and innovative approach to athletic communications have elevated the visibility of our college across the state and nation.
