General 2 Itawamba Community College’s Financial Aid offices have scheduled FAFSA Fridays to assist prospective students with the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. ICC staff members will be available to assist with completion of the online form as well as to answer any questions at both the Fulton and Tupelo campus offices, which are located in the Student Services buildings. Students are encouraged to visit the Tupelo Campus office, if possible because of the availability of more computers. The FAFSA is the form used by the U.S. Department of Education to determine eligibility for federal, state and college-sponsored financial aid, including grants, educational loans and work-study programs, according to Terry Bland, director of Financial Aid at ICC. ICC offers FAFSA completion assistance Itawamba Community College is offering an opportunity to assist prospective students with completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students in ICC’s five-county district can make appointments with a financial aid adviser on designated dates, according to Terry Bland, director of Financial Aid at ICC. The schedule includes Mooreville High School, Oct. 26; Tupelo Christian Preparatory School, Oct. 27; Shannon High School, Oct. 28; Itawamba Agricultural High School, Oct. 29; Aberdeen High School, Nov. 2; Hamilton High School, Nov. 3; Amory High School, Nov. 8; Tupelo High School, Nov. 9; Okolona High School, Nov. 10; Pontotoc High School, Nov. 11; and South Pontotoc High School, Nov. 16. ICC, Get2College to offer FAFSA assistance at Apr. 26 drive-thru event Students and parents who need assistance with completion of the FAFSA form have an opportunity during a drive-thru event at the Itawamba Community College Tupelo Campus, Apr. 26, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. in the parking lot beside the Academic and Student Center. Representatives from Get2College and ICC’s Financial Aid office will be available to assist with filing the FAFSA, State Aid application, ICC scholarships and county aid for 2021-22, according to Terry Bland, director of financial aid. “The event will be primarily to assist students and parents who, due to COVID-19, may not yet be comfortable with coming into the office,” Bland said. Tents will be set up to provide a safe, socially distanced environment. “Even if you do not think you are eligible for a Pell grant, you should still file your FAFSA in order to be considered for emergency funding, which is available from the U.S. Department of Education,” he noted. ICC to partner with Get2College to offer onsite assistance with FAFSA completion Itawamba Community College is partnering with Get2College to provide onsite assistance with FAFSA completion, July 17 and 18. Times and locations are from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., July 17, Academic and Student Center room 231, Tupelo Campus; and July 18, Boggs Humanities Building room 103, Fulton Campus. The sessions are designed to assist current and incoming students with FAFSA questions and form completion. Appointments are preferred, according to Terry Bland, director of Financial Aid at ICC, but walk-ins will be accommodated. ICC to host February Fridays preview for prospective students Itawamba Community College will host February Fridays to provide a preview for prospective students. Dates, time and locations include from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Feb. 4, 11 and 25 at the David C. Cole Student Services Building at the Fulton Campus; and Feb. 18 in the Academic and Student Center at the Tupelo Campus. Students will meet with a recruiter and receive assistance with completion of the application, housing and scholarships as well as have an opportunity for a campus tour. They will receive a free t-shirt. According to Jake Hartfield, director of recruitment and orientation, the event is primarily for high school seniors who have not visited ICC or are still making their college choice.
