General 0 Itawamba Community College’s Financial Aid offices have scheduled FAFSA Fridays beginning Oct. 5 to assist prospective students with the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. ICC staff members will be available to assist with completion of the online form as well as to answer any questions at both the Fulton and Tupelo campus offices, which are located in the Student Services buildings. Students are encouraged to visit the Tupelo Campus office, if possible because of the availability of more computers. In addition to ICC staff, Phi Theta Kappa and Get2College Corps members Jacob Owens (Fulton Campus) and Blake Price (Tupelo Campus) will assist with FAFSA Fridays. Thirty-minute appointments can be scheduled from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., weekdays, using SignUp.com at http://signup.com/go/nadZGME for the Fulton Campus and http://signup.com/go/WgcKppi for the Tupelo Campus. The FAFSA is the form used by the U.S. Department of Education to determine eligibility for federal, state and college-sponsored financial aid, including grants, educational loans and work-study programs, according to Terry Bland, director of Financial Aid at ICC. ICC pathway programs set to begin in October Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for several pathway programs that are scheduled to begin in October. They include Certified Nursing Assistant (two classes), Commercial Truck Driving, Food Service Pathway, Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification, Basic Construction and Quality Improvement Associate. Certified Nursing Assistant will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-9 p.m. Oct. 12-Dec. 16, and the day class will meet Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Oct. 12-27. The program prepares participants to take the exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Upon successful program and examination completion, employment could be available in nursing homes, medical centers, home healthcare providers and clinics. Commercial Truck Driving begins Oct. 12 and will meet Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. through Nov. 6. The program prepares individuals to drive Class A semi trucks and other commercial vehicles. It includes instruction in operating diesel-powered vehicles, loading and unloading cargo, reporting delays or accidents on the road, verifying loads against shipping records and keeping necessary records.
