Designed for individuals with prior cake decorating experience, the class will build on foundational skills while introducing more advanced decorating techniques. ICC offers innovative Senior College beginning Jan. 16 at Belden Center Itawamba Community College has an answer for those who are retired and looking for something fun to do. Its innovative Senior College will begin Jan. 16 at 9 a.m. with Jack Reed Jr. hosting the kickoff. He will share excerpts from his recently released book, “A Time to Listen,” which includes the best of thoughts collected from theologians, ministers, teachers and inspirational role models and have become the building blocks of the architecture of his own theology and philosophy. “With ICC’s new Senior College, we wanted to offer something that will appeal to the diverse interests of people living in retirement,” said Josh Gammill, director of Continuing Education. “The sessions will offer wonderful opportunities for community members to learn more about topics specific to our area, stay active in the community and engage with other participants who share the same enthusiasm and zest for life and learning as they do.” Additional programs include Feb. 20, Chair Yoga; Mar. 20, Clark Richey with the Claude Gentry Theatre in Baldwyn and lunch at Tom’s Soda Shop (transportation provided); ... ICC to offer ServSafe Certification training at Belden Center ServSafe® Certification Training will be offered Mar. 23 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The Mississippi Department of Health requires this certification for at least one person in each establishment in which a food permit is required. ICC to offer Preparing for the ACT Sept. 20, 27 at Belden Center Itawamba Community College’s Continuing Education Department will offer Preparing for the ACT, Sept. 20 (English/Reading) and Sept. 27 (Math/Science) from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.). ICC’s ACT prep instructors use three intensive classroom review methods in English, reading, science reasoning and math that focus on strategies for improving test-day performance and scores. Those methods include a review of all concepts tested, tips for overcoming test anxiety and guides for “studying smart.” Those who are enrolled have an opportunity to pre-test early and post-test later in the class using full-length ACT practice tests to measure performance and practice for the testing dates. Students must bring their books to all sessions. The cost is $50 per session. Preregistration is required. ICC to offer Basic PLC - 5/500/Micrologix class at Belden Center Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for a Basic PLC – 5/500/Micrologix class that is scheduled for July 11-14 from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The class is an overview of the application functions of the Allen-Bradley PLC5/500/Micrologix family of programmable controllers and the programming methods using RSLogix 500 programming software. Ladder-logic programming, documenting and online monitoring will be explained. The training, which is designed for new users of the system, will enable them to build knowledge of the PLC and programming software. Cost is $352 per student. ICC schedules adult education orientation for day, night Belden Center new students, July 22 Itawamba Community College will enroll new day adult education students at the Belden Center, July 22. Individuals 18 years of age and older will begin at 9 a.m. and 16/17-year-old students, 1 p.m. An orientation session is also scheduled the same day at 4:30 p.m. for those 0f all ages who plan to attend night classes at the same location. Participants must have a photo ID, and 16/17-year olds must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a withdrawal form from the most recent school attended. Entry into the adult education area is across from the WIN Job Center at ICC-Belden. Day and night classes are also offered throughout the Itawamba Community College district.
