General 0 Two Itawamba Community College sophomores have been named to the All-Mississippi Academic Team. They are Aaron Barnett of Guntown and Sofie Mae Pitts of Hatley. Barnett, who is majoring in Computer Networking Technology, is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He is currently employed as an IT assistant at H.M. Richards, Inc. His parents are Sammy and Mary Barnett of Aberdeen. Pitts, who is majoring in Robotics and Automation Technology, is on the dean’s list at ICC, where she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Her community service includes food bank volunteer and church yard work. She is the daughter of Rodney Pitts. Each two-year college in Mississippi may nominate students to the All-USA Academic Team. Nominations are based on academic performance and service to the college and community. Her other activities include small group leader for seventh grade girls and supervises three-year-olds at The Orchard where she will be an intern this summer. Four ICC sophomores named to All-Mississippi Academic Team Four Itawamba Community College sophomores have been named to the All-Mississippi Academic Team. They include Raven Blagg of Saltillo, Emily Moorman of Pontotoc, Emory Reinhard of Mantachie and Alexis Tabbs of Red Bay, Ala. Blagg is dual enrolled at both Tupelo High School and Itawamba Community College. Her activities at THS include archery team and former member of the band, and at ICC, vice president of fellowship for the Beta Tau Sigma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and archery club team. Her honors include both dean’s and president’s lists. Blagg, who is also a member of 4-H, was one of four individuals on the state team for muzzleloading that competed nationally in June. She works in childcare at Montessori School of Tupelo and in the preschool department at First Baptist Church. Her parents are Steven and Aphilak Blagg. Moorman is a member of the Beta Tau Sigma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and a president’s list scholar at ICC where her literary work has been published in The Calliope. ICC sophomores named to All-Mississippi Academic Team Itawamba Community College sophomore Hunter Holley of Nettleton has been selected to the All-Mississippi Academic Team first team, and the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship. In addition, Fields Ferguson of Batesville, Karla Morales and Lillian Salem, both of Tupelo, were named to the second team. A graduate of Amory High School, Holley is majoring in biological sciences at ICC, where he is the president of the Upsilon Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at the Fulton Campus. He is also serving as the Mississippi/Louisiana PTK Regional Reporter and is a member of the Indian Delegation and Science Club. Last year he served as the Monroe County representative for the Student Government Association. Among his honors are Hall of Fame, Mr. Itawamba Community College, regional PTK Most Distinguished Chapter Officer runner-up, Order of the Golden Key, president’s list, ICC’s student representative for HEADWAE and recipient of numerous scholarships, including one of 10 in the nation to receive the prestigious Pearson Scholarship. Howell is majoring in Computer Programming/Networking Technology. She is a member of the Beta Tau Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and the Computer Programming and Networking Association. Her honors include Hall of Fame and President’s List. She serves as a volunteer with her church with sound equipment and is a former member of 4-H. Her parents are Larry and Angie Howell. Salinas is majoring in computer science at ICC, where she is vice president of the Student Government Association, president of the Computer Science Club, Diamond Girl, member of the Honors College and vice president of leadership and regional reporter for the Upsilon Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. Ferguson is a graduate of the Ramp School of Ministry, and in May he will earn his associate’s degree in business administration at ICC. He plans to transfer to Mississippi State University. At ICC, he is a member of the choir, chamber singers and CenterStage. Currently he serves the Ramp Church in Hamilton, Ala. as a member of Chosen, a fiery dance ministry team. He is married to Taylor Bain Ferguson. Hawkins, who is majoring in social work, is a member of the Indian Delegation, Tupelo Campus Student Government Association secretary, Phi Theta Kappa (Beta Tau Sigma chapter) recording secretary and a peer tutor in the Student Success Center. Her honors include Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior and Community Colleges. She is also a member of NorthStar Church. Her parents are Amanda Scates and Tim Hawkins.
