General 0 Several pathway programs are scheduled to begin Aug. 10 and 11 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center. They include Certified Nursing Assistant, Aug. 10 (Monday, Wednesday – 5-9 p.m.); Phlebotomy Technician, Aug. 11 (Tuesday, Thursday, 5:30-9:30 p.m.); Pharmacy Technician, Aug. 11 (Tuesday, Thursday, 6-9 p.m.); Emergency Medical Technician, Aug. 11 (Tuesday, Thursday, 5-10 p.m.); Business Office Specialist, Aug. 11 (Tuesday, Thursday, 5:30-9:30 p.m.); Introduction to Welding and Cutting, Aug. 11 (Tuesday, Thursday, 6-9 p.m.); and Basics of Residential Wiring, Aug. 11 (Tuesday, Thursday, 6-9 p.m.) ICC’s pathway programs are designed to prepare individuals with the high-performance skills necessary to enter the job market or to transition to an advanced related program at the College. Also, the programs equip students to become quality employees. Upon completion of the program of study, students earn a certificate of completion or appropriate credential. Three pathway programs to begin soon at ICC-Belden Registration is underway for three pathway programs, which will begin soon at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center. They include Certified Nursing Assistant, Food Service Pathway and Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification. Certified Nursing Assistant will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 1-17, from 5-9 p.m. The program prepares participants to take the exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Upon successful completion of the program and the examination, nursing assistants can find employment with nursing homes, medical centers, home healthcare providers and clinics. Becoming a CNA provides an excellent foundation for those who want to advance in the nursing profession. Food Service Pathway will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. from Aug. 31-Sept. 25. The class includes proper food handling standards, kitchen safety practices and culinary techniques. Students will receive hands-on instruction, internships with local restaurants and an opportunity to build their résumé, enhance their interview skills and attain ServeSafe® certification and ServeSafe® Alcohol certification. Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification will begin Aug. 31, and classes will meet Mondays through Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. through Oct. 22. The MSBC ... Food Service Pathway class to begin Aug. 1 at ICC-Belden Itawamba Community College has scheduled a Food Service Pathway class at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) beginning Aug. 1. Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through Aug. 31. The program includes Serve Safe® Food Manager Certification, Serve Safe® Alcohol Certification, CPR, certificate of completion, proper food handling standards, kitchen safety practices, culinary techniques, interview skills and résumé building, money handling and front of the house and back of the house operations. The curriculum used in this course is the Society for Human Resource Management 2020 Learning System, which provides an in-depth overview of the knowledge and industry expertise needed to sit for and pass the SHRM-CP certification exam. Key topics include behavioral competencies and technical knowledge. The program is designed for students to develop basic office, communication and computer technology skills. Through intensive lab instruction, students will have the opportunity to attain an Intuit Quickbooks® certification and receive training and instruction to prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist certification for Microsoft Excel and Word. In addition, participants will receive instruction and training in performance of technical office tasks, basic math, fundamentals of bookkeeping and basic human resource management.
