ICC's Continuing Education to offer Small Business Showcase series

Itawamba Community College’s Continuing Education Department is offering a Small Business Showcase series.             Sessions include March 25 at 5:30 p.m. at Magnolia Soap, 100A West Main St. in Fulton, candle or bath bombs ($22 each option) or both ($40); April 1 at 6 p.m., Seven Acres Flowers (Mooreville) at the ICC-Belden Center, create a custom flower bouquet, $35; April 10 at 6 p.m., Sculpted Wellness, 127 Young Ave. in Nettleton, chair massages, moisturizing hand treatments and aromatherapy, $50; May 6 at 6 p.m., Lost+Found Coffee, 910 Robert E. Mar. 21 ICC Spring Preview Day showcases opportunities for high school juniors

High school juniors will have an opportunity to learn about student life at Itawamba Community College during Spring Preview Day, Mar. 21, from 9 a.m.-noon at the Davis Event Center on the Fulton Campus.               The schedule includes arrival and check-in, 8:15-8:50 a.m.; welcome, 9 a.m.; preview expo and campus tours, 9:15 a.m.; and optional lunch at the dining hall ($7 per person meal ticket), 11 a.m. In addition, a sensory friendly session at 11 a.m. will be sponsored by ICC’s new Bloom program, which is for neurodivergent students who need extra support although they either have a high school diploma or certificate or are looking to gain work credentials through career education. Areas of assistance through the program include, but are not limited to, social skills lessons, extra tutoring help with navigating college life and all Bloom support opportunities.               Spring Preview Day ‘25 will include information about ICC’s schools of, including academic, health science and career education programs, and participants can interact directly with faculty within the areas. Registration underway for March career pathways at ICC-Belden

Registration is underway at Itawamba Community College for two career pathway programs that will begin in March at the Belden Center.               They include Certified Nursing Assistant and Food Management Certification.               Certified Nursing Assistant, which meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-9 p.m. from March 24-May 28, prepares participants to take the exam to become a CNA. Upon successful completion of the program and examination, nursing assistants can find employment with nursing homes, medical centers, home healthcare providers and clinics. The cost is $526 which includes the required Board License Examination fee.               Food Management Certification will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., March 24-April 18. During the hands-on, four-week class, students will learn the essential skills needed to thrive in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Included in the curriculum are both ServSafe® Food Manager and Alcohol certifications, menu planning preparation, assistance with and execution of catered events, résumé/interview skills and front- and back-of-the-house operations. ICC to host 'Evening of the Arts,' March 6

Itawamba Community College will host an “Evening of the Arts,” at 7 p.m., Mar. 6, in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium at the Fulton Campus.             The show will feature 10-minute performances including a theatre scene from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” wind ensemble, steel drum ensemble, live art demonstration by Shawn Whittington, CenterStage, Jazz Band and Chamber Singers.             The $10 admission ticket also includes a pre-event social at 6 p.m. that will include light appetizers and an opportunity to experience the Steinway and Sons Spirio Piano, which is in residency at ICC for one month.             Those who contribute more than $50 during the event will be eligible for a drawing for the live art piece. ICC to present 'A Midsummer Night's Dream" with a twist, Mar. 27-28

Itawamba Community College will present “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Mar. 27 and 28 at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium on the Fulton Campus. The dinner theatre will begin with a meal at 6:30 p.m. followed by the show at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $27 for both or $10 for the show only. According to director Dr. Laurie McBride, “The production is a fun 1970s infused version of Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” with a groovy twist. It focuses on runaway lovers who get mixed up thanks to some magical potions. ICC ranks among state leaders in full-time enrollment increase

Itawamba Community College ranks among the leaders in the state in full-time enrollment increase, according to figures released this week by the Mississippi Community College Board.                 With spring enrollment at 4,774 at the end of the 10-day reporting period, figures from spring 2024-spring 2025 show a 6.7 percent increase, which comes after a multi-year increase in both fall and spring enrollments.                 The continuing increase over the last two reporting periods can be attributed to multiple factors, according to ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. They include additional housing opportunities tailored to student needs, including the addition of Magnolia Hall, exclusively for student leaders, and reopening of both Sheffield and Monroe Halls with spaces designed to accommodate the ICC student of today as well as an enhanced emphasis on activities.”                 “This very exciting news demonstrates a collaborative effort between all areas of the college to allow for continued enrollment growth,” Allen said. “What the figures don’t show is that residence halls remain at a more than 95 percent capacity this spring. 11 graduate from ICC's prestigious Leadership Development Institute

Registration underway for ICC Commercial Truck Driving program

Registration is underway for a Commercial Truck Driving program at the Itawamba Community College Tupelo Campus.             The career pathway program prepares individuals to drive Class A semi-trucks and other commercial vehicles. It includes instruction in operating diesel-powered vehicles, loading and unloading cargo, reporting delays or accidents on the road, verifying loads against shipping records and keeping necessary records. According to ICC Continuing Education director Josh Gammill, “It is designed to give the future driver a complete and thorough knowledge of logbooks, trip records and the motor carrier safety regulations of the United States Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.”             Classes meet Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. for four weeks at the ICC-Tupelo Campus (2176 So. ICC to host Code Blue and Red, Feb. 21

Itawamba Community College’s Health Sciences Division will host a Code Blue and Red event from 8:30 a.m.-noon, Feb. 21, in the Health Science Education Center at the Tupelo Campus.             Students from area high schools will be on campus in two shifts beginning at 8:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. to participate in three simulated scenarios that highlight each of ICC’s 11 Health Science programs, said Michael Holloway, director of recruitment and orientation.
