ICC schedules April adult education orientations

Itawamba Community College will enroll new adult education students in morning/afternoon and evening classes at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) and in Amory (1619 Highland Drive) at upcoming orientations. Registration for Belden morning and afternoon classes will be at 9 a.m., April 13, for individuals 18 years of age and older. Registration for Belden evening classes will be at 4:30 p.m. on April 13, for individuals 18 years of age and older.  Individuals who are 16-17 years old cannot enroll in evening classes at the Belden Center unless they bring documentation from an employer indicating a schedule that conflicts with day classes. Registration for Belden afternoon classes for individuals 16-17 years of age will be at 9:00 a.m., April 14, at the ICC Belden Center. A legal guardian must accompany anyone 16-17 years of age and also provide a school withdrawal form from the last school attended. Registration for Amory morning classes (all ages) will be at 9:00 a.m. and evening classes (all ages) will be at 4:30 p.m., April 21, at the Monroe County Government Complex.  There is no cost for the classes. ICC to host “Bridges to Belonging” conference on April 10

As the need for meaningful support systems for neurodivergent students continues to grow, Itawamba Community College’s Bloom Neurodivergent Program is bringing educators, families and community leaders together for a shared purpose. ICC will host the “Bridges to Belonging: Connecting Families, Schools and Community for Student Success” conference on April 10 at the ICC Belden Center, uniting partners from across the region to strengthen pathways for student success. The daylong conference is designed to foster collaboration among K-12 schools, higher education, families and community agencies, with a focus on helping students successfully transition from school to adulthood. Participants will include principals, administrators, educators, parents and community stakeholders who are committed to improving outcomes for students with diverse learning needs. The event will feature a keynote presentation, breakout sessions, a panel discussion and dedicated networking opportunities. Leading the conference as keynote speaker is Alyece Smith, a TEDx speaker, ADHD business coach, author and nonprofit founder from Kiln. ICC offers forklift operator certification at Belden Center

Registration is underway at Itawamba Community College’s Belden Center for an upcoming forklift operator certification course. The class will meet from 8 a.m. to noon April 13. Participants will receive OSHA safety instruction and gain practical experience through forklift simulator practice, safety check protocol, hands-on driving and loading and unloading operations. ICC realigns C.O.R.E. Program, launches partnerships with Lee County Sheriff's Office and Tupelo Police Department

Itawamba Community College has realigned its C.O.R.E. (Candidates on Rapid Entry) Program and announced its first formal partnerships with the Tupelo Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office following an Insight Luncheon held April 2 at the ICC Belden Center. Originally established in 2021 in partnership with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the C.O.R.E. Program has been restructured to strengthen the pipeline of qualified candidates for public safety careers. The event brought together local and state agencies to learn more about the updated program, which is housed within ICC’s criminal justice offerings and provides students with a structured pathway into law enforcement through academic coursework, skills development and direct engagement with agencies. Through the partnership, agencies will provide hands-on instruction and mentorship opportunities, while ICC will equip graduates with comprehensive portfolios documenting skills, credentials and career readiness. “This is workforce development at its best, aligning education with real-world need,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. ICC Choirs to present spring concert March 31

An evening of music and artistry awaits as Itawamba Community College’s Choir and Chamber Choir take the stage for their spring concert on Tuesday, March 31, at 7 p.m. in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center on the Fulton Campus. The performance will showcase a dynamic selection of choral works featuring both the full ICC Choir and the select Chamber Choir, highlighting the talent and dedication of ICC’s student musicians. The concert is free and open to the public, offering the community an opportunity to experience live music in one of the college’s premier performance venues. ICC to Host Two Small Business Showcases in April

From fresh sourdough to handcrafted floral arrangements and locally made mead, Itawamba Community College is bringing hands-on experiences straight to the community through its Small Business Showcase series. Designed to connect consumers, small business owners and community members, the Small Business Showcase series provides opportunities to learn new skills, explore locally made products and build lasting relationships. The initiative also reinforces ICC’s commitment to strengthening its role as a community partner across the region. The first showcase will feature Blue Magnolia Bread Company on April 8 at 5:30 p.m. at 1389 Mobile Street in Saltillo. Participants will learn the art of sourdough bread making, including how to fold bread, prepare dough and create their own loaf to take home. The cost to attend is $25 per person. The second showcase will take place April 27 at 5:30 p.m. at 1719 McCullough Blvd. in Tupelo, featuring a collaborative experience with Queen’s Reward and 7 Acres Flowers. ICC Respiratory Care Technology program earns national recognition

Itawamba Community College’s Respiratory Care Technology program has been recognized for the second consecutive year by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care with the Distinguished RRT Credentialing Success Award, a national honor that highlights programs demonstrating exceptional student achievement and outcomes. The award is part of CoARC’s ongoing effort to emphasize the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential as a benchmark of professional excellence. From an accreditation and outcomes perspective, the organization views RRT credential attainment as a key indicator of a program’s ability to prepare graduates for success and encourage them to reach their highest professional aspirations. Programs selected for this recognition must meet rigorous, objective criteria based on data reported in the 2025 Annual Report of Current Status. To qualify, programs must have at least three years of outcomes data, maintain full accreditation without the need for a progress report, achieve an RRT credentialing success rate of 90% or higher and meet or exceed established benchmarks for high cut scores on the Therapist Multiple-Choice exam and student retention. “This recognition speaks to the consistency, quality and commitment of our faculty and ...

ICC to offer Intermediate Cake Decorating course at Belden Center

Registration is underway for an Intermediate Cake Decorating class beginning April 13 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center. The course will meet Mondays from 6–9 p.m. and will continue through May 4. Designed for individuals with prior cake decorating experience, the class will build on foundational skills while introducing more advanced decorating techniques. Participants are asked to bring a turntable and any decorating equipment they already own. The cost for the course is $100. Woody’s featured at ICC’s March Dinner & Demo on March 26

Itawamba Community College will host its next Dinner & Demo on March 26 at 5:30 p.m., featuring Woody’s as the highlighted restaurant for the month. The limited-seat culinary experience invites guests to enjoy an intimate evening of cooking demonstrations by the residence chef while also dining on a specially curated menu from the featured restaurant. Designed as a monthly food experience, Dinner & Demo offers a unique opportunity to see preparation techniques up close while savoring a full meal in a relaxed, engaging atmosphere. The March 26 menu will showcase wild game selections, including duck and bison, offering guests a bold and distinctive dining experience. Additionally, chef demonstrations will include the Bananas Foster which is a well-known Woody's specialty.  Cost for the event is $75 per person or $140 for a couple. Seating is limited. ICC Dinner Theatre to present “Murder on the Orient Express” March 24 and 26

Itawamba Community College’s Dinner Theatre will present the classic mystery Murder on the Orient Express on March 24 and March 26 at the ICC Connection Center on the Fulton Campus. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner beginning at 6 p.m. The theatrical performance will follow the meal. Based on the famous Agatha Christie story, Murder on the Orient Express follows world-renowned detective Hercule Poirot as he investigates a murder aboard a luxurious train stranded in the snow. If you love suspense, glamour and a good plot twist, this is the event for you. The question isn’t who did it — it’s who didn’t? The production features ICC drama students in both cast and crew roles. Crew members include Emily W.
