ICC schedules Fall Preview Day

              High school seniors will have an opportunity to learn about Itawamba Community College during its Fall Preview Day, which is scheduled for October 23 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center at the Fulton Campus.                 Fall Preview Day attendees will also have free admission for the ICC/Northeast football game at Eaton Field, beginning with a tailgate at 5 p.m.                 They can select from up to two information sessions about ICC’s schools of academics, career education and health science, and participants will hear directly from faculty within the areas. They can choose which schools to attend based on a selected major through the registration link. Attendees will also receive information on involvement at ICC, financial aid/scholarships, housing and residence life, Phi Theta Kappa and honors. There will also be a question-and-answer session. Student recruiters will lead the campus and residence hall tours during this event.                 Although attendance at the football game is optional, two Fall Preview Day attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the Dr. Pepper Tuition Toss at halftime. ICC schedules three Dinner & Demo October sessions

                Itawamba Community College has announced three sessions of Dinner & Demo in October. They include Park Heights, Oct. 1, 5:30 p.m., Chef Dan Schroeder; Namaste, Oct. 8, 5:30 p.m., Chef Sachin and Forklift, Oct. 16, 5 p.m., Chef Cooper Miller.                 “We’re thrilled to continue this series with some of our returning restaurant partners, and even more excited to welcome a new addition, Namaste, to the lineup,” said Christy Scheuer, director of ICC’s Food Management Certification program. “Adding this new business gives our guests the opportunity to enjoy a fresh and unique dining experience.”                 Limited seating is available. Metallica Scholars Initiative workforce education program expands in year 7; ICC one of two in Mississippi to receive grant

Metallica Scholars Initiative workforce education program expands; Itawamba Community College one of two in Mississippi Year 7 is largest grant to date with approximately $3 million committed, Expected to reach approximately 10,000 students Fulton, Miss. – All Within My Hands, the nonprofit, philanthropic organization created by the members and management of Metallica, recently announced its Year 7 of its Metallica Scholars Initiative with its largest grant to date, totaling approximately $3 million. Itawamba Community College was among those whose grants were renewed for the third time. MSI now has a presence in 75 colleges across all 50 United States and the territory of Guam and is expected to reach approximately 10,000 students. ICC ranks among leaders in state enrollment for 2025 fall semester

Itawamba Community College ranks among the leaders in the state in enrollment, according to figures released this week by the Mississippi Community College Board.                ICC currently shows a 2 percent increase in headcount and a 3.5 percent increase for full-time enrollment from fall 2024 to fall 2025. Most importantly, figures show a 14 percent increase in enrollment since fall 2021, a four-year consecutive enrollment increase. ICC remains the fifth largest community college out of 15 with more than 5,300 credit students enrolled. The continuing increase can be attributed to multiple factors, according to ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. They include recent additional housing opportunities tailored to student needs, including the addition of 240-capacity Magnolia Hall, exclusively for student leaders, and reopening of both Sheffield and Monroe Halls last fall with spaces designed to accommodate the ICC student of today as well as an enhanced emphasis on activities. ICC to honor All-American Heroes, Sept. 18

Both past and current members of the armed forces, first responders and healthcare professionals will be special guests at Itawamba Community College’s annual All-American Heroes Night, Sept. 18, at Lambert Stadium/Eaton Field at the Fulton Campus and honored during ICC’s football game with East Mississippi Community College, which begins at 7 p.m.                 Special activities will include a salute during halftime featuring ICC’s All-American Marching Band and a spectacular fireworks display. Admission is free to all past and current armed forces members and healthcare professionals, first responders and their families. ICC Respiratory Care Technology program selected as recipient of Distinguished RRT Credentialing Success award

              Itawamba Community College’s Respiratory Care Technology program has been nationally recognized during a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care awards dinner in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. recently.             ICC is among a select group of programs and the only one in Mississippi that received the Distinguished RRT Credentialing Success Award, which is presented as part of the CoARC’s continued efforts to value the RRT credential as a standard of professional achievement. ICC’s program has the best pass rates in Mississippi.             Program director Adam Denton of Saltillo said that from a program effectiveness perspective, the CoARC views the RRT credential as a measure of a program’s success in inspiring its graduates to achieve their highest educational and professional aspirations.             “We are honored to be recognized with the CoARC Distinguished RRT Credentialing award,” Denton said. “This award validates the hard work of our respiratory therapy faculty and demonstrates the dedication of our graduates, who invest countless hours preparing for national board exams. ICC to enroll new adult education students at Belden Center, Sept. 8 and 9

               Itawamba Community College will enroll new adult education students in morning/afternoon and evening classes at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.), Sept. 8 and 9.                 Registration for morning classes, which are taught Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-noon. and afternoon classes (Monday through Thursday, 1-4 p.m.) both will be at 9 a.m., Sept. 8, for individuals 18 years of age and older. Those who are 16-17 years old must attend registration, Sept. 9, at 9 a.m., and they can only attend afternoon classes. A legal guardian must accompany the participants, and they must provide a school withdrawal from the last school attended. All enrollees must provide a state-issued ID and a Social Security card.                 Evening classes are taught Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:30-8:30 p.m., and those 18 years of age and older can register Sept. 8 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Individuals who participate in the come-and-go session should arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. Those who are 16-17 years old cannot enroll in evening classes at the Belden Center unless they bring ...

ICC to honor five during Homecoming 2025, Oct. 9

            Itawamba Community College will honor its 2025 Alumnus of the Year, Athletic Hall of Fame inductees, Distinguished Service and Young Alumnus of the Year award recipients during Homecoming activities, Oct. 9, at the Fulton Campus. They include Mitch Waycaster of Tupelo, Alumnus of the Year; Mike Sullivan of Spanish Fort, Ala. and Jameika Hoskins of Cula Vista, Calif., Athletic Hall of Fame; Randy Kelley of Tupelo, Distinguished Service; and Phillip Faulkner of Amory, Young Alumnus of the Year.                 Waycaster, who is executive vice president of both Renasant Corporation and Renasant Bank, attended Itawamba Junior College in Fulton from fall 1976 to May 1978, where he commuted daily while working after graduating from Shannon High School. He attended Mississippi State University and  earned the bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Mississippi. "Between Earth and Sky," works of two artists, now on display at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts gallery on the ICC Fulton Campus

Now through Sept. 18, Itawamba Community College is hosting “Between Earth and Sky,” a collection of works by two participating artists in the gallery of the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center at the Fulton Campus. A collection of ceramic pieces by Melanie Eubanks of Jones College is complemented by the large acrylic paintings of clouds by Hattiesburg artist Martina Sciolino. All of the works are for sale.             Eubanks is a ceramic artist who works primarily in stoneware and porcelain. The surface of her work is often decorated with brushwork, sgraffito or Mishima or a combination of all of these. With these techniques, she can make images that usually reference the organic shapes of nature and are echoed by the marks made by wood firing. Most of her work is functional and fired in a wood burning kiln, which creates irregular surfaces due to wood ash adhering to the side of the objects facing the flame, which interests her most. She fires her work at various kilns in Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and at her home in Hattiesburg, where she shares a ...
