ICC's Paralegal Technology program ranks second in the nation Itawamba Community College’s Paralegal Technology program has been ranked second in the nation by College Values Online. ICC has been identified as having one of the top most affordable accredited online paralegal certificate programs, according to ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “The elite ranking is a testament to the innovative programs that ICC offers as we ensure that our students have the best start in their careers.” The ranking considered tuition and return on investment. ICC's Allen named to prestigious AACC Board Itawamba Community College President Dr. Jay Allen has been named to the American Association of Community College Board of Directors for a three-year term. He is one of two Mississippi community college presidents serving on the prestigious board, which acts on behalf of the institutional members to create and maintain a vision for AACC, provide a national voice and advocacy for the community college mission and to determine and ensure that the organization adheres to appropriate standards of performance. A total of 32 presidents serve on the Board. Allen is an affiliate council representative and board member for the Community Colleges of Appalachia, which serves the common interests of colleges and their communities through programs and services responsive to the unique cultural, geographic and economic development challenges facing the region. ICC schedules Food Service Pathway class for Aug. 3 at Belden Itawamba Community College has scheduled a Food Service Pathway class at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) beginning Aug. 3. Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through Aug. 27. Record number of ICC students selected Leaders of Promise Scholars Four Itawamba Community College students have been selected among 207 Phi Theta Kappa members named 2021 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars and will receive a $1,000 scholarship. They include Harley Boone of Guntown, Kaleb Ward of Mooreville, Chloe Evans of Nettleton and Haley Dean of Saltillo. “Itawamba Community College is extremely proud of these scholars who have attained this significant honor,” said Robin Lowe, Phi Theta Kappa contact adviser. “The selection of four students is a record number for ICC, and it definitely is a reflection of the extraordinary students we have.” The Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program helps new Phi Theta Kappa members defray educational expenses while enrolled in associate degree programs. Adult learners have opportunity to take advantage of C2C program at ICC Adult learners who haven’t completed work for a college degree can return to Itawamba Community College this fall and possibly take advantage of the Complete 2 Compete program. An initiative of the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning and the Mississippi Community College Board, Complete 2 Compete concentrates on removing barriers that keep adult learners from returning to complete their degrees. Since its inception in 2017, the program assisted more than 2,100 former students in returning to complete their degrees, and more than 4,000 former students, who had not been enrolled in classes for more than two years, were enrolled on a fast path to degree completion. To date, 91 associate’s degrees have been awarded by Itawamba Community College through the C2C program, said Dr. Emily Tucker, ICC recruitment coordinator and adviser and liaison for the C2C program. ICC schedules 2021 fall semester open registration Itawamba Community College has scheduled open registration for the 2021 fall semester. Options include Aug. 11 from 4-7 p.m., Aug. 12 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Aug. 13 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Student Support Center at the Tupelo Campus; and Aug. 12 and 13 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the David C. Cole Student Services Building on the Fulton Campus. The Tupelo Campus location also will be open until 6 p.m. from Aug. 16-19 for late registration. Traditional full-term day and first eight-week classes begin Aug. 16; and eLearning full-term and first eight-week classes, Aug. 23. Baldwin, Hartfield have new ICC leadership roles Dylan Baldwin of Pontotoc and Jake Hartfield of Fulton have new leadership roles at Itawamba Community College, which became effective July 1. Baldwin is the director of career education, and Hartfield, director of recruitment and orientation. Baldwin, who has been collision repair instructor at ICC since 2013, earned the associate’s degree from ICC, the bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and the master’s degree from Mississippi State University. His honors include 2017 Mississippi Community College Board Leadership Academy and multiple ASE and ICAR certifications. From 2012-13, he was an instructor at the Tupelo Career and Technical Center. Baldwin is a member of several ICC committees, including Student Honors Selection, Curriculum, Environmental Scan and Planning and Assessment as well as the Strategic Planning Council. ICC, The W sign memorandum of understanding to provide opportunities for Early Childhood Education majors Itawamba Community College and Mississippi University for Women signed a memorandum of understanding today (July 14) to provide educational opportunities for students pursuing careers in early childhood education. The agreement establishes a pathway for ICC students who are earning an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Technology to have the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree at The W. According to the agreement, ICC and The W will work together to enroll students in the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Development program, including advising and encouraging students, alumni and constituents who qualify.
