ICC extends health programs application deadline With the challenges presented by the coronavirus, Itawamba Community College has extended the deadline to May 1 for the submission of applications for several health-related programs at Itawamba Community College. In addition, the new deadline to submit all required documentation for admission, including observation hours, transcripts, ACT scores and proof of certification is June 1. The programs include associate degree nursing, health information technology, licensed practical nursing (August class), occupational therapy assistant technology, physical therapist assistant technology, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy technology and surgical technology, all at the Tupelo Campus. ICC postpones dinner theatre Itawamba Community College has postponed its production of “Over the River and Through the Woods,” which was scheduled Mar. 23-28, as a result of the recommendation by the Center for Disease Control and the Mississippi State Department of Health to delay gatherings of 50 or more individuals. “This decision was difficult to make because we are aware of the many hours spent in rehearsal and preparation by the cast, crew and director for this very special event,” said ICC President Dt. McIntosh, Heath elected 2020 Mr. and Miss ICC TJ McIntosh of Wren and Lauren Heath of Randolph have been elected Mr. and Miss Itawamba Community College for 2019-20. McIntosh is majoring in biology/pre-medicine concentration at ICC, where he is vice president of the Student Government Association, Indian Delegate, Phi Theta Kappa officer, MAN UP tutor and a member of Sigma Delta Kappa, the Science Club and ICC All-American Band. His honors include president’s list, 2020 Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship semifinalist, All-Mississippi Academic Team and Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship recipient. He is a member of the Greater New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church where he serves as president of the youth department and youth usher. He is the son of Torrance and Sylvia McIntosh. Bean of New Albany; Jared Brittian Callihan of Amory; Jeffery Earnest, Amber Jones, both of Tupelo; Madison Haley of Olive Branch; Kalyn Johnson of Fulton; Nami Ikawa, Jillian McCollum, Kaylika Pulphus, all of Saltillo; TJ McIntosh of Wren; Mary-Elizabeth Moore of Red Bay, Ala. and Anna Pounds of Belmont. Bean is majoring in Electrical Technology. The son of Michael and Linda Bean, he is married to Melanie. Callihan, who is majoring in Surgical Technology, was named to the president’s list. ICC, UWA sign memorandum of understanding Itawamba Community College and the University of West Alabama have signed a memorandum of understanding to ease the transition for qualified transfer students. The agreement, which was signed by ICC President Dr. Jay Allen and UWA President Dr. Ken Tucker, guarantees admission to all ICC students based on a 2.0 grade point average and 48 transferrable credit hours or completion of their associate’s degree program at ICC. In addition, it offers pre-transfer advising offered at ICC and/or the UWA campus with an academic adviser as well as dedicates academic scholarships to ICC students with a 3.0 or higher GPA. ICC students who receive academic scholarships will also be eligible to apply for housing scholarships to assist with and encourage on-campus residency. “This agreement will allow our students new opportunities to complete their degrees at the University of West Alabama in a variety of disciplines, both within the curricula and beyond,” Allen said. “This is significant for both our traditional students and adult learners, who now have an option to take advantage of new on-campus learning experiences as well as an extensive flexible ... Formal opening for Tupelo building, March 2 Itawamba Community College will formally open its Academic and Student Center on the Tupelo Campus with a dedication program and ribbon cutting at 2 p.m., Mar. 2. The 50,944-square-foot two-story building includes the bookstore (Grounds Coffee Shop), cafeteria, business office, admissions, financial aid, advising center, computer lab, conference room, faculty offices and classrooms for social sciences, fine arts and business courses.
