Area residents among Itawamba Community College spring 2025 graduates

ICC's Baldwin, Gammill complete prestigious MCCPF program

Itawamba Community College’s Dylan Baldwin of Pontotoc, dean of Career Education, and Josh Gammill of Fulton, director of Continuing Education, have recently completed the prestigious Mississippi Community College Policy Fellowship Program.                 Baldwin earned the associate’s degree from ICC, the bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and the master’s degree from Mississippi State University. He joined the ICC faculty in 2013 as Collision Repair Technology instructor. His honors include 2023 Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy, 2017 Mississippi Community College Board Leadership Academy, Community College representative for the Commission on Teacher and Administrator Education, Certification and Licensure and Development and secretary of the Mississippi Career Technical Officers Association. Baldwin, and his wife, Monica, are the parents of a 10-year-old daughter, Mia.                 Gammill, who is director of continuing education, has been a member of the ICC family since 2015, previously serving as career navigator and pathway coordinator. Several Itawamba Community College staff members received a total of 25 awards from the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi, which were presented during a recent conference in Starkville.             They include             C.J. Registration continues for ICC summer orientation sessions

Registration is continuing for several orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll at Itawamba Community College for the 2025 fall semester.             Recent high school graduates are required to participate in one of the sessions, which are scheduled for June 10, June 11, July 16, all at 1 p.m. at the Fulton Campus; June 10, June 11 and July 16, all at 8:30 a.m., at the Fulton Campus; and June 12 and July 15, both at 1 p.m. at the Tupelo Campus. Students can attend a session regardless of the location they plan to attend. However, all students, including adult learners, are invited.             “Among the advantages of attending an orientation session are scheduling classes early and choosing from a wide variety of options, including days, times and instructors,” said Michael Holloway, director of recruitment and orientation. “Participants will have an opportunity to connect with other new students as well as to learn more about student life at ICC. The sessions will also enable adult learners to meet with an adviser and to make the transition to college less intimidating.”             ...

ICC graduates receive diplomas, certificates during May 16 ceremonies

Approximately 1,000 Itawamba Community College graduates crossed the stage at the Davis Event Center on the Fulton Campus, May 16, during three commencement ceremonies and were rewarded with Associate of Arts or Associate of Applied Science degrees or certificates.             Among them included a 15-year-old and his mother, a native of South Africa, a 32-year-old high school equivalency graduate, an amputee and one who started the pursuit of her college diploma more than 20 years ago.             Lathan Jon Austin Nunley of New Albany said he “nervously but excitedly stepped into the world of college. Today, I’m proud to say I’m graduating with my first degree – alongside my mother, who has supported me every step of the way.” His educational journey began at home where his mother homeschooled him ‘from birth to eighth grade.’ “With her guidance and the encouragement of those around me, I was taught to believe that anything is possible. That mindset pushed me to graduate high school at just 13 years old through Penn Foster.” His ultimate goal is to work in the tech field. “I ...

Food Management Certification class set to begin June 2 at ICC-Belden

Registration is underway for a Food Management Certification class that will begin June 2 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.                 The class will meet weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. through June 26.                 Highlights of the hands-on course include both ServSafe® Food Manager and Alcohol Certification, menu planning/preparation, assistance/participation in execution of catered events, résumé/interview skills and both front- and back-of-the-house operations.                 Tuition assistance could be available for those who qualify.                 For more information or to register, call (662) 407-1505 or email pathways@iccms.edu.

ICC's Stevenson, Harris complete prestigious MCCLA

Itawamba Community College’s Chris Stevenson of Fulton and John Wayne Harris of Shannon have recently completed the 2024-25 Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy. A member of the ICC family since 2010, Stevenson, who is the dean of Academic Instruction, previously served as American History instructor and chair of the Social Science Division. He earned the associate’s degree from ICC, bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University and master’s degree from the University of Mississippi. His honors include William Winter Scholar (2014) and John and Beth Cleveland Instructor of the Year (2018). Stevenson is a member of Mississippi Professional Educators. He and his wife, Jessi, have two children, Rourke and Riley. They attend the Orchard in Fulton. Harris, who is the director of Physical Plant Operations, joined the ICC family in 2008. His previous positions include sound technician, maintenance technician/energy manager and director of projects and energy management systems. He earned the associate’s degree from ICC and the bachelor’s degree from Everglades University.
