ICC launches Lil Indians Club

Six receive ICC Diagnostic Medical Sonography degrees in special ceremony

Several area residents from Itawamba Community College’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography program received their degrees at a special event, July 23, at the Health Science Education Center at the Tupelo Campus.             They include Holly Tillman of Ackerman; Madison Huppert of Amory; Madisson Dill of Corinth; Mamie Hollenhead of Louisville; Lenzi Lewis of Okolona; and Misty Taylor of Pontotoc.             Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a one-year (three-semester) program. Graduates earn an Associate of Applied Science degree and are eligible to take the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography examinations. Amanda Stone of Saltillo is the program director, and Daphne Jackson of Shannon, clinical coordinator.

ICC releases fall 2024 continuing education schedule

            Itawamba Community College has announced its schedule of continuing education classes for the 2024 fall semester.             The schedule, according to ICC Continuing Education director Josh Gammill, includes opportunities in several categories: hobbies and personal enjoyment, personal enrichment, professional continuing education, career pathways and senior college.              Gammill said that the class schedule includes both new opportunities as well as those that have been offered before. “We have integrated new classes such as an introduction to single board microcomputers and microcontrollers that join old favorites in the areas of art, cake decorating, photography, ACT prep, sign language and personal finance. Professional continuing education is available for EMS refreshers and engineers and surveyors as well as an extensive schedule of career pathways, or short-term courses, to prepare students for the next step. Our senior college, which began during the spring semester, continues to offer an opportunity to enable retirees to stay active in the community and engage with other participants who share the same enthusiasm and zest for life and learning as they do.”             The ...

ICC Food Management Certification class to begin Aug. 5 at Belden

Registration is underway for a Food Management Certification class that will be offered Aug. 5-30 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.                 The class will meet weekdays from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.                 Highlights of the hands-on course include both ServSafe® Food Manager and Alcohol Certification, menu planning/preparation, assistance/participation in execution of catered events, résumé/interview skills and both front- and back-of-the-house operations.                 Tuition assistance could be available for those who qualify.                 For more information or to register, call Christy Scheuer, instructor, at (662) 407-1505 or email acscheuer@iccms.edu or pathways@iccms.edu.

Registration continues for '24 fall semester at ICC

Registration is continuing for the 2024 fall semester at Itawamba Community College. Entering freshmen, transfer, returning or students who are being readmitted can register at the Advising Centers at either the Fulton or Tupelo campus from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday through August 13. Locations are the David C. Cole Student Services Building on the Fulton Campus and the Academic and Student Center on the Tupelo Campus. In addition, ICC has scheduled open registration opportunities, Aug. 14, 15 and 16.             Options include Aug. 14 from 1-5 p.m. at the Tupelo Campus; Aug. 15 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on the Fulton Campus and 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on the Tupelo Campus; and Aug. 16 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses. Locations are the Academic and Student Center on the Tupelo Campus and the David C. Itawamba Community College has scheduled several pathways classes to begin in August at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.).                 They include Pharmacy Technician, Aug. 3-Dec. 10, Tuesdays, 6-9 p.m.; Certified Nursing Assistant, Aug. 12-Oct. 30, Mondays and Wednesdays, 5-9 p.m.; Food Management Certification, Aug. 12-Sept. 6, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.; Google IT Support Certification (online self-paced), Aug. 12-Dec. 6; Medical Administrative Assistant, Aug. 12-Nov. 6, Mondays, 5-9 p.m. (plus additional online assignments); Medical Assistant, Aug. 12-Dec. 12, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, 6-9 p.m.; Business Office Specialist, Aug. 13-Dec. 8, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-9 p.m.; and Phlebotomy Technician, Aug. 15-Oct. 24, Thursdays, 5:30-9:30 p.m.                 The Pharmacy Technician program prepares students for an entry-level position in both institutional and pharmacy settings. Adult learners who enroll at ICC in the fall have two scholarship opportunities for financial support

Adult learners who plan to attend Itawamba Community College in the fall have two scholarship opportunities for financial support.             They include ICC’s Adult Learner Incentive and the statewide Complete 2 Compete.             ICC’s Adult Learner Incentive scholarship, which provides $2,000 ($500 per semester) for full-time students and $250 for part-time), is designed to provide an incentive for returning or new students, age 21, or older to pursue a degree at ICC. Criteria for selection include enrollment in a minimum of 12 hours (scholarship can be reduced to $25o per semester for part-time – six hours – status), meeting admission requirements and in good standing at ICC.  The application deadline is Aug. 15, and the form is available at www.apply.iccms.edu. ICC to partner with Get2College to offer onsite assistance with FAFSA completion

Itawamba Community College is partnering with Get2College to provide onsite assistance with FAFSA completion, July 17 and 18.             Times and locations are from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., July 17, Academic and Student Center room 231, Tupelo Campus; and July 18, Boggs Humanities Building room 103, Fulton Campus.             The sessions are designed to assist current and incoming students with FAFSA questions and form completion.             Appointments are preferred, according to Terry Bland, director of Financial Aid at ICC, but walk-ins will be accommodated. ICC Practical Nursing program sets July 18 commencement ceremony

Several area residents from Itawamba Community College’s Practical Nursing program will participate in a commencement ceremony, July 18, at noon, at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center at the Fulton Campus.             Practical Nursing graduates include Jamaiya Fears of Aberdeen; Christina Hernandez, Shana Whitten, both of Blue Mountain; Melissa Clifton of Booneville; Bonner Mendoza, Autumn Webb,  both of Fulton; Terika Naugle of Houlka; Brittany Hayes, Laura Starling, Heather Vanstory, all of Mantachie; Sandy Jones, Laken Robertson, both of Myrtle; Jonathan Morales of Nettleton; Skylar DeLoach, Taylor Mims, both of Pontotoc; Lily Brewer of Ripley; Marquita Brinkley, Jasmina Heard, both of Shannon; Amber Jones, Alliyah Porter, both of Tupelo; Jada Jackson of Vernon, Ala.; Brittany Bowens, Lakeshia Edwards, De’Aisha Strong and De’Oshia Strong, all of West Point.             Practical Nursing is a one-year (three-semester) program. ICC schedules adult education orientation for day, night Belden Center new students, July 22

Itawamba Community College will enroll new day adult education students at the Belden Center, July 22. Individuals 18 years of age and older will begin at 9 a.m. and 16/17-year-old students, 1 p.m. An orientation session is also scheduled the same day at 4:30 p.m. for those 0f all ages who plan to attend night classes at the same location.                 Participants must have a photo ID, and 16/17-year olds must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a withdrawal form from the most recent school attended. Entry into the adult education area is across from the WIN Job Center at ICC-Belden.                 Day and night classes are also offered throughout the Itawamba Community College district.
