The in-person class provides crucial insights into creating a safe and secure learning environment, and participants will gain practical skills that correlate to promoting a safe atmosphere conducive to learning. ICC's Harris, Stevenson selected for MCC Leadership Academy Itawamba Community College’s Chris Stevenson of Fulton and John Wayne Harris of Shannon have been selected as participants in the 2024-25 Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy. A member of the ICC family since 2010, Stevenson, who is the dean of Academic Instruction, previously served as American History instructor and chair of the Social Science Division. He earned the associate’s degree from ICC, bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University and the master’s degree from the University of Mississippi. His honors include William Winter Scholar (2014) and John and Beth Cleveland Instructor of the Year (2018). Stevenson is a member of Mississippi Professional Educators. He and his wife, Jessi, have two children, Rourke and Riley. They attend the Orchard in Fulton. Harris, who is the director of Physical Plant Operations, joined the ICC family in 2008. His previous positions include sound technician, maintenance technician/energy manager and director of projects and energy management systems. Registration underway for Food Management Certification class at ICC-Belden Registration is underway for a Food Management Certification class that will begin July 9 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center. The class will meet Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. through August 1. ICC breaks ground on innovative Connection Center Itawamba Community College ceremonially broke ground today for its Connection Center, which is expected to open on the Fulton Campus during the 2026 spring semester. In bringing greetings on behalf of the ICC Board of Trustees, Chairman Steve Coleman of Pontotoc called the ceremony “a celebration of the future of ICC and our continued focus on student, employee and community engagement. This outstanding facility will not only serve the students who are enrolled in 2026 but countless students and community members for many years to come.” ICC President Dr. Jay Allen said that today’s ceremony was an opportunity to participate in and celebrate another milestone for the College since he arrived as president in 2017. “This groundbreaking is another significant milestone along this ever-changing journey. Hayden Stegall of Pontotoc appointed to ICC Board of Trustees Hayden Stegall of Pontotoc has been appointed to the Itawamba Community College Board of Trustees. Stegall, a Certified Public Accountant, has been affiliated with Stegall and Associates, PLLC since 2019 and was previously an associate for BDO USA, LLP in their Memphis, Tenn. office from 2016-19. An Itawamba Community College alumnus, he earned both the undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Mississippi. Second summer term registration now open at ICC Open registration is underway for second term traditional and second four-week eLearning summer classes at Itawamba Community College. Students may register for traditional second-term classes anytime through June 25 at 5 p.m. at the David C. Cole Student Services Building on the Fulton Campus and the Academic and Student Center on the Tupelo Campus. Classes start on June 24. ICC's Patterson selected as 2024 Moody Institute Fellow Lindsey Patterson of Amory, Itawamba Community College Natural Science instructor/eLearning Anatomy and Physiology lead and department chair, has been selected as a 2024 Moody Institute Fellow. The MITF Board evaluated a number of outstanding applications and selected Patterson’s as one of the successful proposals, according to an email from Dr. Erin Eaton, assistant executive director for Academic and Student Affairs of the Mississippi Community College Board. She will receive a $500 award check for her proposal which will provide an opportunity for her to attend the Gross Anatomy for Teacher Education session this summer at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. The 3-4-day experience in June includes cadaveric dissection. “Each summer they focus on a different area of the body,” Patterson said. “It takes four different workshops to complete the entire body; however, they have incorporated more imaging in the program, so I wanted to attend again.” Patterson served as an adjunct instructor at ICC from 2015-16. ICC's MHP C.O.R.E. cadets win inaugural games championship Itawamba Community College’s Candidates on Rapid Entry cadets recently participated in the inaugural C.O.R.E. games at East Central Community College and won the championship. ICC’s team defeated both East Central Community College and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in the event that featured physical fitness, drill and ceremony and a thorough inspection of assigned barracks and uniform. Each candidate also competed in an obstacle course designed to highlight the physical and mental aspects a law enforcement officer may face during the course of their duty, according to MSGT Heath Mullins, C.O.R.E. program supervisor. ICC’s team members include Jakari Cooper of Carthage, Brennan Westmoreland of Ecru; Grant McArthur of Jonesboro, Ark.; Kaylee Hankins of Nettleton; Jayke Logan of Pittsboro; Matthew Armstrong of Saltillo; and Matthew McCarley of Athens, Ala.
