ICC releases spring 2022 pathways schedule

ICC selects orientation leaders

Itawamba Community College has selected leaders for its 2022 freshman orientation sessions, which begin in April.             They include Reece Cantrell of Amory; Skylon Snipes of Brilliant, Ala.; Emma Grace Allen, Marley Moore, Lillian Phifer, Gracie Whitt, all of Fulton; Hannah Dean of Houston; Kayla Young of Madison; Anna Maldonado of Nettleton; Chloe Evans of Plantersville; Anna Claire Warren of Pontotoc; Shelby Stidham of Red Bay, Ala.; Morgan Flemons, Kaleighia Pierce, both of Shannon; Tykez Daniels of Starkville; Alyssa Freeman of Tupelo; and Nestor Ortega of Verona.             They will lead small group activities, conduct campus tours and provide information to incoming freshmen during the orientation sessions.

ICC to start new adult education class at Regional Rehab

ICC's MiBEST program to offer 11 additional pathway options beginning in January

            Beginning in January 2022, participants in Itawamba Community College’s MiBEST program will have 11 additional pathway options.             Currently, students can choose from Heating and Air Conditioning Technology, Certified Nursing Assistant and Welding and Cutting, according to Linzy Patterson, director of Adult Education at ICC.             Additional programs will include Automotive Technology, Business Office Specialist, Commercial Truck Driving, Diesel Equipment Technology, Electrician Assistant, Food Service Pathway, Hospitality Management Technology, Manufacturing Basic Skills, Pharmacy Tech, Phlebotomy and Introduction to Welding and Cutting.             The Mississippi Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training program is a workforce and economic development initiative that transitions low-skilled, non-credentialed Mississippians from the economic sidelines into careers earning family-sustaining wages, according to Patterson.             The program is intended for individuals who did not earn a traditional high school diploma, those in low-wage jobs or other nontraditional students.             Those enrolled in the MiBEST program at ICC are assigned a Navigator to guide them through each step of the program, including filling out an application, completing their coursework and transitioning into the labor market, Patterson said. Jones joins ICC Board of Trustees

Duane Edward Jones of Shannon has been appointed to the Itawamba Community College Board of Trustees.             A retired teacher, Jones is a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University.             His activities include church officer and member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity.             He and his wife, Debbie, are the parents of Jonathan, Sidney, Duane and Shane.             Jones fills the unexpired term of William Shack of Tupelo.

ICC to host Coffee Convos for assistance with admissions, scholarships and housing

Itawamba Community College is hosting Coffee Convos at several locations throughout its five-county district to assist high school seniors with admissions, scholarships and housing.             Recruiters Makaela Dickerson and Katelynn Stidham will be available to answer questions and for guidance in the application process. The locations include The Coffee Pot in Amory,  Nov. 29, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; Gather + Coffee Brew in Houston, Dec. 2, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; The Merc in Fulton, Dec. 8, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; Happy Day Café in Pontotoc, Jan. 13, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Lost + Found in Tupelo, Jan. 25, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.             Students can register at https://bit.ly/ICCCoffeeConvos. ICC sets orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll for spring 2022

            Itawamba Community College has scheduled orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll for the 2022 spring semester.             High school students who graduate in December are highly encouraged to participate in one of the sessions, which are scheduled for Nov. 18 and Jan. 5, at 1 p.m. each day at the Tupelo Campus at iccms.edu/orientation. Students can attend a session regardless of the location they plan to attend in the spring. However, all students, including adult learners, are invited.             “Among the advantages of attending an orientation session are scheduling classes early and choosing from a wide variety of options, including days, times and instructors and possibly completing the process before graduation from high school,” said Jake Hartfield, director of recruitment and orientation. “The sessions will also provide an opportunity for adult learners to connect with an adviser and to make the transition to college less intimidating.”             During the spring semester, students may choose from several instructional delivery methods, including online, face-to-face and hybrid.             Students must have submitted an application for admission as ...

ICC hosts Job Fair, Nov. 11, at Belden Center

            Itawamba Community College is hosting a Job Fair in room 509 of the Belden Conference Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.), Nov. 11, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.             Participating companies, which will be available to discuss potential job opportunities, include Advanced Technology Services, APMM, Blue Springs Metals, Central Service Association, CEW, Franklin Furniture, Homestretch, International Paper, Itawamba Community College, Magnum Metals, North Mississippi Health Services, Omega Motion, Raybern Foods, Renin, Toyota and Winchester.             The event is free and open to the public.             For more information, contact Josh Gammill at jegammill@iccms.edu or call (662) 407-1569.

ICC offers adult learner incentive scholarship

Jan. 21 is the deadline for applying for the Adult Learner Incentive Scholarship for those enrolling for the 2022 spring semester at Itawamba Community College.             To apply for the scholarship, students must be 21 years of age or older and enrolling in classes to pursue a degree. Full-time recipients, who are enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours, will receive $2,000 ($500 per semester), and part-time recipients, who are enrolled in a minimum of six hours, will receive $1,000 ($250 per semester).             The Adult Learner scholarship must be used in consecutive semesters. Eligibility must begin the first semester of attendance and cannot be used more than once. It is for students who begin enrollment for the 2022 spring term.             Day and evening, academic, career education, eLearning and workforce classes are available in Fulton, Tupelo and Belden.             Those who are interested and qualify can apply online at apply.iccms.edu.
