Simmons elected chairman of ICC Board of Trustees for 2022; to serve with area residents

Gill Simmons of Tupelo has been elected chairman of the Itawamba Community College Board of Trustees for 2022.             Other officers include Marilyn Sumerford of Smithville, first vice chairman; Steve Coleman of Pontotoc, second vice chairman; Ronnie Gholston of Fulton, secretary; and Steve Eaton of Houston, immediate past chairman.             Also serving on ICC’s Board of Trustees are Danny Gladney, Jeanette Atkins, Mac Allen Thomas, all of Aberdeen; William “Skip” Scaggs of Amory; Dan Lee Bishop of Baldwyn; Bonnie Webb, Danny Park, both of Belden; Don Loden, Stacy Russell, both of Fulton; Ollie Young of Houston; Mark Tigner of Mantachie; D. Free COVID vaccines available at all ICC locations, Jan. 20

Free COVID-19 vaccines will be available at all Itawamba Community College locations on Jan. 20 for employees, students, their families and the entire community.             Times include 9-11 a.m., Academic and Student Center at the Tupelo Campus; 9 a.m.-1 p.m., David C. ICC to host February Fridays preview for prospective students

            Itawamba Community College will host February Fridays to provide a preview for prospective students.             Dates, time and locations include from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Feb. 4, 11 and 25 at the David C. Cole Student Services Building at the Fulton Campus; and Feb. 18 in the Academic and Student Center at the Tupelo Campus.             Students will meet with a recruiter and receive assistance with completion of the application, housing and scholarships as well as have an opportunity for a campus tour. They will receive a free t-shirt.             According to Jake Hartfield, director of recruitment and orientation, the event is primarily for high school seniors who have not visited ICC or are still making their college choice.             Registration is available at http://bit.ly/FebruaryFridays.             For more information, email go2icc@iccms.edu.

2022 spring semester registration continues at ICC

Registration for the 2022 spring semester at Itawamba Community College will continue through Jan. 14 for traditional full-term day and night classes.             Traditional full-term day and first eight-week classes begin Jan. 10; and eLearning full-term and first eight-week classes, Jan. 18. The last day to add eLearning first eight-week classes is Jan. 19, and eLearning full-term classes, Jan. 21.             Financial aid is available, as well as adult learner scholarships.             Academic, career education, eLearning (online) and workforce opportunities are available in an extensive schedule, which includes both day and evening classes at Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. Instructional delivery methods include face-to-face and online. ICC, Regional Rehab Center launch innovative partnership

Itawamba Community College and the Regional Rehabilitation Center have launched an innovative partnership with the addition of free adult education classes.             ICC President Dr. Jay Allen and Adult Education Director Linzy Patterson and Regional Rehab Center Executive Director Robby Parman welcomed the first students to class, Jan. 5.             “For ICC, we’ve had a long-standing relationship with the Regional Rehab Center, so this partnership was a no-brainer,” Allen said. “The idea was to move the needle for the communities we serve, and the Regional Rehab Center has a great ministry. The path to prosperity goes through education, and this is a tremendous opportunity to help people who did not achieve that education in high school, and we’re really good at that.”             Allen said that both entities refer students and clients to each other, and over the years, ICC has hosted numerous fundraisers for the Regional Rehab Center, so this is an ideal partnership.             The classes meet from 1-4:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays at the center, which is located at 615 Pegram Drive in Tupelo.             Parman said that the idea for ...

ICC Food Service Pathway class to begin Jan. 18

Itawamba Community College has scheduled a Food Service Pathway class at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) beginning Jan. 18.             Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through Feb. 11.             The program includes Serve Safe® Food Manager Certification, Serve Safe® Alcohol Certification, CPR, certificate of completion, proper food handling standards, kitchen safety practices, culinary techniques, interview skills and résumé building, money handling and front of the house and back of the house operations. Adult education classes will begin at several locations in the Itawamba Community College five-county district the week of Jan. 3.             The schedule includes             Amory – Amory WIN Center (1619 Hwy. 25 North), Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.;             Belden – ICC Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Road), Monday and Tuesday, 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; and ESL, Monday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.;             Fulton – Old Grammar School (603 So. Registration underway for January pathways classes at ICC

            Registration is underway for several pathways classes that will begin in January at Itawamba Community College.             They include Business Office Specialist, Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT Basic, Food Service, Enhanced Forklift Operator, Google IT Support Certificate, Medical Administrative Assistant, Pharmacy Technician and Phlebotomy Technician.             Business Office Specialist will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-9:30 p.m., Jan. 11-May 5. It is designed for students to develop basic office, communication and computer technology skills. Through intensive lab instruction, students will have the opportunity to attain an Intuit Quickbooks® certification and receive training and instruction to prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist certification for Microsoft Excel and Word. Additional instruction and training include performance of technical office tasks, basic math, fundamentals of bookkeeping and human resource management.             Certified Nursing Assistant will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-9 p.m., Jan. 10-Mar. 16.
