Price to be featured speaker for ICC's Unity programs, Feb. 16

           Dr. Richard Price of Tupelo, senior minister of the North Green Street Church of Christ, will be the featured speaker for Unity programs in Celebration of Black History Month, Feb. 16, at both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses of Itawamba Community College.             The Tupelo Campus program is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. in the Dining Hall of the Academic and Student Center; and the Fulton Campus program, 6 p.m. in the banquet rooms of the David C. Cole Student Services Building.             Price has also served congregations in Philadelphia, Pa. and Harlem, NY. He has taught at the College of New Rochelle Brooklyn and Harlem campuses in areas of social science. He earned the bachelor’s degree from Livingstone, master’s degree from St. John’s University and the M.A.R.L.A. and D. Min. from New York Theological Seminary. ICC schedules orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll in summer, fall

Itawamba Community College has scheduled orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll for the 2022 summer and fall semesters.             Recent high school graduates are required to participate in one of the sessions, which are scheduled for Apr. 11 (Honors), June 7, June 8, June 9, July 19 at 1 p.m.; Apr. 22 and 29, May 6 and July 21, all at 8:30 a.m., at the Fulton Campus; and Apr. 13, June 21 at 1 p.m. and June 23 and July 21 at 5 p.m. at the Tupelo Campus. Students can attend a session regardless of the location they plan to attend. However, all students, including adult learners, are invited.             “Among the advantages of attending an orientation session are scheduling classes early and choosing from a wide variety of options, including days, times and instructors and possibly completing the process before graduation from high school,” said Jake Hartfield, director of recruitment and orientation. “Participants will have an opportunity to connect with other new students as well as to learn more about student life at ICC. Ten ICC staff, faculty selected for prestigious LDI

            Ten members of Itawamba Community College’s faculty and staff have been selected to participate in its Leadership Development Institute for 2022-23.             They include C.J. Adams of Fulton, marketing specialist; Terry Bland of Mooreville, financial aid director; Josh Gammill of Fulton, pathway coordinator; Adam Gore of Fulton, sports information and media relations director; Holly Gray of Fulton, library director; John Wayne Harris of Fulton, project and energy management systems director; Dr. Robert L. Solomon of Belden, director of admissions and registrar; Chris Stevenson of Fulton, social science division chair and history instructor; Dr. Dana Walker of Tupelo, Associate Degree Nursing program director; and Steven A. West of Mantachie, systems analyst and programmer.             Adams, who has been employed at ICC since 2018, earned the A.A.S. degree in computer servicing at ICC. ICC to enroll new adult education students during Feb. 1-3 orientation session

Itawamba Community College will enroll new adult education students with a three-day orientation session, Feb. 1-3, at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Road).           Each session will begin at 8:30 a.m. Participants must have a photo ID, and 16-/17-year-olds should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Entry into the adult education area is across from the WIN Job Center at ICC-Belden.           Students who plan to enroll in any of the classes offered in the ICC five-county district should attend.           The schedule includes           Amory – Amory WIN Center (1619 Hwy. 25 North), Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.;           Belden – ICC Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Road), Monday and Tuesday, 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; and ESL, Monday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.;           Fulton – Old Grammar School (603 So. ICC's PMMT program receives Gene Haas Foundation grant

Itawamba Community College’s Precision Manufacturing and Machining Technology program has received a $14,000 grant from the Gene Haas Foundation.             According to Dylan Baldwin, ICC’s director of Career Education, the funds will be used for student aid and certifications. “We appreciate very much the investment by the Haas Foundation in ICC’s Precision Manufacturing and Machining Technology program,” Baldwin said. “Not only is it an investment in the program, but it is an investment in the futures of our students.”             In 1999, Gene Haas formed the foundation which bears his name because he grew up with a strong social conscience instilled by his family. It was initially designed to fund the needs of the local community. Haas Automation is now a billion-dollar company. The focus of the foundation has shifted to the current outreach and methodology. Simmons elected chairman of ICC Board of Trustees for 2022; to serve with area residents

Gill Simmons of Tupelo has been elected chairman of the Itawamba Community College Board of Trustees for 2022.             Other officers include Marilyn Sumerford of Smithville, first vice chairman; Steve Coleman of Pontotoc, second vice chairman; Ronnie Gholston of Fulton, secretary; and Steve Eaton of Houston, immediate past chairman.             Also serving on ICC’s Board of Trustees are Danny Gladney, Jeanette Atkins, Mac Allen Thomas, all of Aberdeen; William “Skip” Scaggs of Amory; Dan Lee Bishop of Baldwyn; Bonnie Webb, Danny Park, both of Belden; Don Loden, Stacy Russell, both of Fulton; Ollie Young of Houston; Mark Tigner of Mantachie; D. Free COVID vaccines available at all ICC locations, Jan. 20

Free COVID-19 vaccines will be available at all Itawamba Community College locations on Jan. 20 for employees, students, their families and the entire community.             Times include 9-11 a.m., Academic and Student Center at the Tupelo Campus; 9 a.m.-1 p.m., David C. ICC to host February Fridays preview for prospective students

            Itawamba Community College will host February Fridays to provide a preview for prospective students.             Dates, time and locations include from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Feb. 4, 11 and 25 at the David C. Cole Student Services Building at the Fulton Campus; and Feb. 18 in the Academic and Student Center at the Tupelo Campus.             Students will meet with a recruiter and receive assistance with completion of the application, housing and scholarships as well as have an opportunity for a campus tour.
