ICC students to be inducted into Sigma Kappa Delta

Several Itawamba Community College students will be inducted into Sigma Kappa Delta during a ceremony at the W.O. ICC, Get2College to offer FAFSA assistance at Apr. 26 drive-thru event

Students and parents who need assistance with completion of the FAFSA form have an opportunity during a drive-thru event at the Itawamba Community College Tupelo Campus, Apr. 26, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. in the parking lot beside the Academic and Student Center.             Representatives from Get2College and ICC’s Financial Aid office will be available to assist with filing the FAFSA, State Aid application, ICC scholarships and county aid for 2021-22, according to Terry Bland, director of financial aid.             “The event will be primarily to assist students and parents who, due to COVID-19, may not yet be comfortable with coming into the office,” Bland said. Tents will be set up to provide a safe, socially distanced environment. “Even if you do not think you are eligible for a Pell grant, you should still file your FAFSA in order to be considered for emergency funding, which is available from the U.S. Department of Education,” he noted.              Since limited spots are available, participants must register at www.iccms.edu/FAFSADriveThru. ICC's CenterStage to present spring show, Apr. 20

Itawamba Community College’s CenterStage will present its spring show at 6:30 p.m., Apr. 20 in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium at the Fulton Campus.             CenterStage will “Light Up the Night” with a wide variety of songs and illuminating numbers from current songs on the radio to classic hits. ICC’s show choir features vocalists, instrumentalists and technical crew.             Members include Kindal Gammill of Ackerman; Braxton McKinney of Caledonia, Meg Basden, Preston Cox, both of Fulton, Eli Head of Haleyville, Ala., Kaylee Heitger of Mooreville; Mary Beth Oliver of Nettleton, Anna Sauerwein, Timothy Locastro, both of Pontotoc, Michael Smith of Splunge; Anna Grace Funderburk, Ella Kate Nichols, both of Thaxton; Maggie Hardin of Union and Jet Adams of Vance.             Directors are Kyle Davis of Fulton and Christy Colburn of Amory.             Admission is free. ICC to award degrees, certificates during four in-person ceremonies

Approximately 650 Itawamba Community College graduates will receive associate’s degrees or certificates in four in-person ceremonies, May 13 and 14, at the Davis Event Center on the Fulton Campus.             The ceremonies include May 13 – 10 a.m., Associate of Arts (A-L) and 2 p.m., Associate of Arts (M-Z); and May 14 – Associate of Applied Science (career education), 10 a.m. and Associate of Applied Science (health science), 2 p.m. The A.A.S. ceremonies will also include those who earned certificates. In addition, a high school equivalency ceremony will be at 6 p.m., May 13.             Since COVID-19 prevented an in-person ceremony last year, both 2020 and 2021 graduates have been invited to participate.             Each participant will receive a maximum of 10 tickets to comply with state COVID guidelines regarding social distancing in arenas. Masks will be required.             All ceremonies will be livestreamed at LetsGoICCTV.com.

ICC selects cheerleaders for 2021-22

Itawamba Community College has selected its cheerleading team for 2021-22 based on recent tryouts.             They include Sydney Elkin of Amory; Harley Boone, Sydney Duggar, both of Guntown; Zoe Bigham of Louisville; Jodi Parks of New Albany; Tiffany Bishop, Lindzie Hurd, Macey Thomas, all of Pontotoc; Mckenna Chisolm of Randolph; Jennah Medlin of Ripley; Kage Heberling, John Bucy Long, Logan McBrayer, John Bryant Stanford, all of Saltillo; Emily Clowers of Thaxton;  and Karsyn Owens of Tupelo. ICC's Knox wins national SKD award, first by Omicron Zeta chapter member

Itawamba Community College sophomore Mattie Knox of Amory has received a second place award in the 2021 National Personal Essay Writing Contest from Sigma Kappa Delta.             Knox’s award, which was for “Blood Is Thicker Than Water,” is the first received by an Omicron Zeta Chapter member.             At ICC, Knox has been involved with the Baptist Student Union, Sigma Kappa Delta and the Mirror, for which she is a co-editor. She plans to transfer to the University of Southern Mississippi, where her major will be library and information science.             SKD is the English Honor Society for two-year colleges.  

ICC sets June, July orientation sessions

Itawamba Community College has scheduled orientation sessions in June and July for students who plan to enroll for the 2021 summer and fall semesters.             Recent high school graduates are required to participate in one of the sessions, which are scheduled for June 8 and July 13 at 1 p.m. and June 17 at 8:30 a.m. at the Fulton Campus and June 10 and July 1 at 8:30 a.m., June 15 at 1 p.m., June 17 and July 22 at 5 p.m. at the Tupelo Campus. Students can attend a session regardless of the location they plan to attend. However, all students, including adult learners, are invited.             “Among the advantages of attending an orientation session are scheduling classes early and choosing from a wide variety of options, including days, times and instructors and possibly completing the process before graduation from high school,” said Dr. Melissa Haab, dean of enrollment services. “The sessions will also provide an opportunity for adult learners to connect with an adviser and to make the transition to college less intimidating.”             ICC orientation is mandatory for all ...

Itawamba Community College’s Small Ensembles will perform in concert at 6:30 p.m., Apr. 13, at the Crane Pavilion on the Fulton Campus. The groups include Mixed Woodwind Ensemble, Rush Hour Saxophone Quartet, Brass Ensemble and Steel Band. ICC, Fulton partner in significant sidewalk project

Itawamba Community College and the City of Fulton announced today the awarding of $1.1 million in Federal Transportation Alternative Program funds from the Mississippi Department of Transportation for sidewalk installation along West Main Street.             ICC and the City of Fulton will be responsible for 20 percent of the total as well as professional engineering fees, according to John Wayne Harris, director of Projects and Energy Management Systems.             The sidewalk will be constructed along West Main Street and will begin in downtown Fulton east of the Fulton Telephone Company and continue to the trailhead, Harris said. Another section will be installed from West Main along Stadium Drive and end at the Access Road.             Pushbutton crosswalks at Stadium Drive and in front of both Sheffield Hall and the new ICC residence hall will help ensure the safety of college students, pedestrians and the residents of Fulton. In addition, the project will feature LED decorative post-top lights to provide well-lit pathways to promote student and visitor safety.
