Dabbs, Caldwell receive MNF scholarships Itawamba Community College sophomores Emma Dabbs and Mason Caldwell, both of Nettleton, have been awarded Mississippi Nurse’s Foundation RN Car Tag Stipend scholarships. Dabbs is a 2015 graduate of Nettleton High School, where she was selected to the Hall of Fame and ranked in the top 10 of her class. At ICC, she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She attends Celebration Church in Tupelo where she assists with the children and youth ministry. She is the daughter of Deanna and Tommy Ray Dabbs. Also a 2015 graduate of Nettleton High School, Caldwell was ranked in the top five of his class and selected to the Hall of Fame. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Nurse’s Christian Fellowship at ICC. Caldwell attends Crosspointe Fellowship in Nettleton. He is the son of Brent and Niki Caldwell. Preparing for the ACT The Continuing Education Department of Itawamba Community College has scheduled two options for Preparing for the ACT. The weekly option will begin Aug. 21 at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) and will meet Mondays from 5:30-8 p.m. through Oct. 16. The $100 fee includes the book. Preparing for the ACT will also be offered six Saturdays from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. English and reading will be covered Aug. 19, Oct. 21 and Nov. 18, and math and science, Aug. 26, Oct. 7 and Dec. 2. Cost is $50 for each session. ICC’s ACT prep class instructors use intensive classroom review procedures in English, reading, science reasoning and math that focus on strategies for improving scores by three methods including review of all concepts tested, tips for overcoming test anxiety and guides for studying smart that will help improve test-day performance. QM Certification Itawamba Community College’s Brandi McCraw and Stacey Hughes, both of Fulton, have earned Quality Matters Certification from the Mississippi Virtual Community College. McCraw has been at ICC for nine years as a full-time employee and is currently serving as eLearning instructional coordinator/adviser on the Tupelo Campus. Her activities include Title IX confidential contact for the Tupelo Campus; participating member of the Mississippi eLearning Association and co-chair of the supportive services committee; graduate of ICC’s Leadership Development Institute and Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy; and member of several ICC committees including eLearning, QEP marketing, professional development and instructional policies. She is enrolled in the Doctorate of Philosophy in Community College Leadership program at Mississippi State University. Alumnus of the Year, Athletic Hall of Fame nominations Nominations are being accepted for the 2017 Alumnus of the Year and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees at Itawamba Community College through Aug. 11. Those selected will be honored during homecoming activities Oct. 28 at the Fulton Campus. Criteria for selection for Alumnus of the Year include successful completion of at least one semester as a full-time student at ICC five years prior to the current year and merit and achievement which have brought fame and honor to either his/her community or ICC. ICC’s Athletic Hall of Fame honors former athletes, coaches or individuals who have excelled or those who have made major contributions to intercollegiate athletics while attending or employed by ICC. Athletic Hall of Fame inductees must have been out of school at least 10 years. Additional criteria to be considered are accomplishments and support of ICC. MSBC classes set for Aug. 7 Registration is continuing for a day class option for the Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification program beginning Aug. 7 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center. Rogers receives MNF scholarship Itawamba Community College sophomore Laura Rogers of Tupelo has been selected as the recipient of the Mississippi Nurses Foundation scholarship. Selection of the $1,000 scholarship winner is based on a written essay, and applicants must be members of the Mississippi Nurses Association. Rogers is majoring in Associate Degree Nursing at ICC. A graduate of Tupelo High School, she earned the B.A. degree in psychology from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and president of the National Honor Society for Psychology for two years. EMT-Paramedic Applications are being accepted through August 1 for the EMT-Paramedic program at Itawamba Community College. EMT-Paramedic is a 15-month program, which is offered at ICC’s Belden Center. Students must be a Nationally-Registered EMT-Basic to be eligible for admission. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be awarded a certificate of completion, and those who complete additional academic courses can receive an Associate of Applied Science degree.
