Spring 2018 Open Registration

            Open registration at Itawamba Community College has been scheduled for the 2018 spring semester.             Dates and times include Jan. 3 from 4-7 p.m. at the Tupelo Campus; Jan. 4 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Fulton Campus and from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Tupelo Campus; January 5 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses, and Jan. 6 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Tupelo Campus. Locations are the Administration Building at the Fulton Campus and the Student Support Center at the Tupelo Campus.             It is possible to register for spring semester classes through Jan. 12 for traditional full-term evening classes, traditional eight-week accelerated term; Jan. 17 for the eight-week eLearning term; Jan. 19 for full-term eLearning classes, but a late registration fee of $15 will be assessed. However, class selection could possibly be limited.             Traditional day classes begin Jan. 8, and eLearning classes, Jan. 16.             Individuals who have earned some college credit but insufficient hours for a degree can receive information about the statewide Complete2Compete initiative during scheduled open registration sessions on Jan. 4 ...

Jan. 16 is deadline for applying for ICC Adult Learner Incentive Scholarship

Jan. 16 is the deadline for applying for the Adult Learner Incentive Scholarship for those enrolling for the 2018 spring semester at Itawamba Community College. The scholarship, which provides half-tuition for one semester, is designed to provide an incentive for new or returning students, age 23 or older, not enrolled in college for the previous two years to pursue a degree at ICC.              Criteria for selection include Mississippi resident, enrollment in a minimum of six semester hours, meeting admission requirements and in good standing with ICC. The scholarship cannot be combined with other ICC institutional scholarships.             Day and evening academic, career and technical, eLearning and workforce classes are available in Fulton, Tupelo and Belden.             ICC will be closed Dec. 19-Jan. 1. Open registration is scheduled for Jan. 4 and 5 at both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses. MSBC class set for January

Registration is continuing for a day class option for the Manufacturing Skills Basic Certification program which will begin Jan. 16 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.             The class will meet Mondays through Thursdays through Feb. 28 from 8 a.m.-noon.             The program is designed to prepare students desiring to have a career in high-performance manufacturing to be successful. Through this program, students use critical thinking skills, update core skills and knowledge and will earn nationally-recognized credentials.             Developed to respond to core knowledge for the current and emerging industry sectors located within the north Mississippi region, the 94-hour MBSC includes three national credentials – 10-hour OSHA, the American Heart Association’s CPR and the Career Readiness Certificate. Comprehensive interactive classes, computer-based tools, experienced instructors and excellent reference materials create a valuable training experience. Participants will learn how to operate a forklift; how to read a caliper, micrometer and blueprint drawing; how to perform CPR; what companies do to improve and ensure safety, productivity and quality of their processes and products and improve their computer skills.             For more information or to register, ...

ICC to offer Complete2Compete information sessions

Area residents who have earned some college credit but insufficient hours for a degree can receive information about the statewide Complete2Compete initiative during special sessions at Itawamba Community College in January. Dates are Jan. 4 from 5-7 p.m. and Jan. 6 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Student Support Center on the Tupelo Campus. ICC is among Mississippi’s two- and four-year institutions collaborating in the Complete2Compete initiative, which is designed to increase the number of adults with postsecondary degrees or credentials of value to positively impact the state’s educational attainment rate and economy as well as the quality of life for those who complete their degrees. The program matches adults with a Complete2Compete coach at an institution who reviews prior credit and provides them with a pathway for obtaining a degree. Complete2Compete is available to Mississippi adults who are at least 21 years old, have not earned a postsecondary degree and have been out of college for at least two years. Spring registration continues through Dec. 18

Registration for the 2018 spring semester at Itawamba Community College will continue through Dec. 18. To register, visit the Student Affairs offices on either the Fulton or Tupelo campuses between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., weekdays. Locations are the Student Support Center (Tupelo) and David C. Cole Student Services building (Fulton). Academic, career and technical, eLearning (online) and workforce opportunities are always available in an extensive schedule, which includes both day and evening classes at Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. New or returning students, age 23 or older, who have not been enrolled in college for the previous two years, can apply for an Adult Learner Incentive Scholarship, which provides half-tuition for one semester. Hunter Holley semifinalist for prestigious scholarship

Hunter Holley of Amory, a sophomore at Itawamba Community College, has been selected as a semifinalist for the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship. The Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship is the largest private scholarship in the nation for students transferring from two-year community colleges to four-year institutions that award bachelor’s degrees. Holley is ICC’s first semifinalist. Cooke Scholarships fund the costs of attending college not covered by other financial aid, plus academic advising, stipends for internships, study abroad and opportunities to network with other Cooke Scholars and alumni. In addition, after earning a bachelor’s degree, each Cooke Scholar will be eligible to apply for a scholarship for graduate school worth up to $50,000 a year for up to four years. Since 2000, the Cooke Foundation has awarded approximately $147 million in scholarships to more than 2,000 students and $90 million in grants to organizations that serve outstanding low-income students. Several area residents will participate in a commencement ceremony for the practical nursing program at Itawamba Community College at 7 p.m., Dec. 15, at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium at the Fulton Campus. ICC bluegrass and gospel concert

Itawamba Community College will present the 22nd annual bluegrass and gospel concert to benefit the ICC Foundation, Inc., beginning at 4 p.m., Mar. 3, 2018, at the Davis Event Center on the Fulton Campus. Performing will be The Isaacs, Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, Aaron Wilburn, Kristi Miller and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver.
