Continuing Education trip

            Itawamba Community College’s Center for Creative Retirement is sponsoring a trip to the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, Sept. 8, for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Love Never Dies,” the sequel to “The Phantom of the Opera.”             Departure will be from the Belden Center at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $129 (lunch included).             For more information, contact Becky Kelly at (662) 407-1500 or email rakelly@iccms.edu.  

Little, Hoing, Sheffield earn MHIMA awards, honors

            Itawamba Community College’s Health Information Technology instructor Lori Little of Fulton and students Misty Sheffield of Fulton and Claudia Michaela Hoing of Thaxton have received awards and honors from the Mississippi Health Information Management Association.             Little was the recipient of both the 2018 Educator and Mentor awards, and Sheffield and Hoing were presented MSHIMA scholarships for outstanding academic performance.             Little earned the associate’s degree from ICC, bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and master’s degree from Union University. Her professional honors and activities include HOSA Adviser of the Year, Leadership Itawamba, AHIMA first year delegate, MSHIMA member liaison, Northeast Council president and a member of numerous college committees. Little is a member of Bethel Baptist Church and also an instructor for adult basic education. ICC schedules fall '18 registration

            Open registration at Itawamba Community College has been scheduled for the 2018 fall semester.             Dates and times include Aug. 8 from 4:30-7 p.m., Aug. 9 from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and Aug. 10 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Student Support Center at the Tupelo Campus; and Aug. 9-10 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Administration Building at the Fulton Campus.             It is possible to register for fall semester classes through Aug. 17 for traditional classes and the August eight-week traditional accelerated term; Aug. 21 for the August eight-week eLearning accelerated term and Aug. 24 for full-term eLearning classes, but a late registration fee of $15 will be assessed. However, class selection could possibly be limited.             Traditional day classes begin Aug. 13, and eLearning classes, Aug. 20.             Academic, career and technical, eLearning (online) and workforce opportunities are available in an extensive schedule, which includes both day and evening classes at Fulton, Tupelo and Belden.             For more information, call (662) 862-8000 or (662) 620-5000 or email go2icc@iccms.edu.

Food Service Pathway class to begin Aug. 6

            Registration is underway for a four-week Food Service Pathway program to begin Aug. 6 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.             Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.             The program includes Serve Safe® certification, certificate of completion, proper food handling standards, kitchen safety practices, culinary techniques, interview skills and résumé building, money handling and front of the house and back of the house operations.             For more information, contact program director Christy Scheuer at acscheuer@iccms.edu or (662) 407-1505.

2018 Alumnus of the Year, Athletic Hall of Fame

            Nominations are being accepted for the 2018 Alumnus of the Year and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees at Itawamba Community College through Aug. 3.             Those selected will be honored during homecoming activities Oct. 18 at the Fulton Campus.             Criteria for selection for Alumnus of the Year include successful completion of at least one semester as a full-time student at ICC five years prior to the current year and merit and achievement which have brought fame and honor to either his/her community or ICC.             ICC’s Athletic Hall of Fame honors former athletes, coaches or individuals who have excelled or those who have made major contributions to intercollegiate athletics while attending or employed by ICC. Athletic Hall of Fame inductees must have been out of school at least 10 years. ICC offers second Culinary Camp for Kids

            Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for a second Culinary Camp for Kids, which is scheduled for July 24-27.             Students who will be in grades 4, 5 and 6 in the fall can participate in the camp, which will meet from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.             Highlights include proper kitchen hygiene and safety, healthy kid-friendly recipes as well as team-building, organizational and etiquette skills. Forklift operator training set for July 17

            Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for a class in forklift operator training.             The class will meet from 8 a.m.-noon, July 17.             Highlights include OSHA safety instruction, forklift simulator practice, safety check protocol, hands-on driving, and loading and unloading operation. ICC offers travel opportunity

            A limited number of community seats are available for an opportunity sponsored by Itawamba Community College’s Travel Club.             The Nov. 14-21 travel intinerary provided by Barkley Travel Service includes points of interest in both New York City and Washington, D.C.             Although anyone is welcome on the study tour, students who opt to travel earn three hours of credit in a Humanities I course. Online registration continues for July orientation sessions

            Online registration continues for the July freshman orientation sessions at Itawamba Community College.             Both morning (8-11:45 a.m.) and afternoon (1-4:45 p.m.) sessions are scheduled for July 9 at the David C. Cole Student Services Building at the Fulton Campus and July 12 at the Health Science Education Center at the Tupelo Campus.  Morning only sessions will be July 10 at the Fulton Campus and July 13 at the Tupelo Campus. Students may check in from 8-8:45 a.m. for the morning session and from 1-1:45 p.m. for the afternoon session.             The schedule includes small group sessions, campus tours, computer training and registration. ID and yearbook photos will be made.             A special parent/guest orientation session will cover topics of special interest to enable them to assist their students in the transition to ICC. Students must have submitted an application for admission as well as a copy of the ACT score before registering for orientation.
