Itawamba Community College receives $100,000 and joins 41 other schools across the US as All Within My Hands' Metallica Scholars Initiative expands in year five

  Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands, continues its multimillion-dollar investment in critical workforce programs at community colleges nationwide. Among the schools, Itawamba Community College was selected from a competitive pool of applicants to receive $100,000 to transform the futures of students in the community. “It is a tremendous honor for Itawamba Community College to be selected as one of the recipients of the prestigious All Within My Hands grant, which will significantly impact our career education programs, providing funding for students to pursue a pathway and their best start,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “It is another indication of the success of the College and reinforcement of the mission that students and their success are our top priority.” The Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI) was launched in 2019 by Metallica’s foundation, All Within My Hands (AWMH), in partnership with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). ICC Food Management Certification class to begin Aug. 7 at Belden Center

           Registration is underway for a Food Management Certification class that will begin Aug. 7 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.             The class will meet Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. through Sept. 1.             Highlights of the hands-on course include both ServSafe® Food Manager and Alcohol Certification, menu planning/preparation, assistance/participation in execution of catered events, résumé/interview skills and both front- and back-of-the-house operations.             Tuition assistance could be available for those who qualify.             For more information or to register, call Christy Scheuer, instructor, at (662) 407-1505 or email acscheuer@iccms.edu or pathways@iccms.edu.

Adult learners enrolling at ICC this fall have scholarship options

            Adult learners who plan to attend Itawamba Community College in the fall have two scholarship opportunities for financial support.             They include ICC’s Adult Learner Incentive and the statewide Complete 2 Compete.             ICC’s Adult Learner Incentive scholarship, which provides $2,000 ($500 per semester for full-time students and $250 for part-time), is designed to provide an incentive for returning or new students, age 21, or older to pursue a degree at ICC. Criteria for selection include enrollment in a minimum of 12 hours (scholarship can be reduced to $25o per semester for part-time – six hours – status), meeting admission requirements and in good standing at ICC.  The application deadline is Aug. 15, and the form is available at www.apply.iccms.edu. ICC adult education classes continue at multiple area locations

Adult education classes are ongoing at several locations in the Itawamba Community College five-county district. The schedule includes             Amory – Amory WIN Center (1619 Hwy. 25 North), Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.             Belden – ICC Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Road), Monday and Tuesday, 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m. and Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; and English as a Second Language (ESL), to be determined. Fulton – Crubaugh Technical Education Building (J.E. Thrash Street), ICC Fulton Campus, Monday and Tuesday, 3:30-7:30 p.m., new student enrollment on the first and third Mondays of each month. Houston – Houston WIN Center (210 Monroe St.), Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Pontotoc – Pontotoc WIN Center (316 Coffee St.), Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. There is no cost for the classes. ICC registration continues for 2023 fall semester

Registration is continuing for the 2023 fall semester at Itawamba Community College. Beginning July 17, entering freshmen, transfer, returning or students who are being readmitted can register at the Advising Centers at either the Fulton or Tupelo campus from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday. Locations are the David C. Cole Student Services Building on the Fulton Campus and the Academic and Student Center on the Tupelo Campus. In addition, ICC has scheduled open registration opportunities, Aug. 9, 10 and 11.             Options include Aug. 9 from 1-5 p.m. on both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses; Aug. 10 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on the Fulton Campus and 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on the Tupelo Campus; and Aug. 11 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses. Itawamba Community College has scheduled several pathways classes to begin in August at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.).                 They include Business Office Specialist, Aug. 8-Dec. 7, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-9 p.m.; Certified Nursing Assistant, Aug. 7-Oct. 18, Mondays and Wednesdays, 5-9 p.m.; Emergency Medical Technician, Aug. 8-Dec. 7, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-10 p.m.; Google IT Support Certification (online self-paced), Aug. 7-Dec. 8; Medical Administrative Assistant, Aug. 7-Nov. 1, Mondays, 5-9 p.m.; Pharmacy Technician, Aug. 8-Dec. 5, Tuesdays, 5-9 p.m.; and Phlebotomy Technician, Aug. 10-Oct. 26, Thursdays, 5:30-9:30 p.m.                 For more information about all classes or to register, call (662) 407-1537 or email pathways@iccms.edu.

ICC schedules adult education orientation/enrollment sessions for July 10

Itawamba Community College will enroll new adult education students at the Belden Center during two orientation sessions on July 10. The first, which is at 9 a.m., will be for individuals who are 16- or 17-years old; and the second, at 1 p.m., will include those who are 18 and older. Participants must have a photo ID, and 16-/17-year-olds should be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a withdrawal form from the most recent school attended.             Entry into the adult education area is across from the WIN Job Center at ICC-Belden.             Day and evening classes are offered at ICC-Belden as well as in Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe and Pontotoc counties.             There is no cost for the classes.             The ESL program, Belden Center evening courses and all WIN Job Centers offer open, continuous enrollment.             GED and HiSET testing is continuing on a weekly basis, and all program-enrolled students take the GED or HiSET free of charge. ICC revamps Precision Machining Technology program, introduces one-year Associate of Applied Science dgreee

              Itawamba Community College has revamped its Precision Machining Technology program, transitioning it from two years to a streamlined one-year Associate of Applied Science degree opportunity, beginning this fall.             The newly revised program will equip students with essential skills and knowledge through a carefully designed curriculum, ensuring that they are well-prepared for rewarding careers in the field of precision machining, according to Dylan Baldwin, director of Career Education.             The three-semester program will enable students to graduate in July 2024. Upon completion of the program, they will receive a 45-hour certificate, demonstrating their mastery of precision machining techniques.             The revised program incorporates several new classes to enhance students’ understanding and proficiency in precision machining. Courses such as Metallurgy, Die Repair and Jigs, Fixtures and Tools along with another Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Operations course have been added to the curriculum, ensuring that students receive comprehensive training in cutting-edge machining technologies and industry best practices. ICC, TPSD sign MOU for innovative Associate Degree Nursing Preferred Candidacy Middle College program to begin this fall

Itawamba Community College and the Tupelo Public School District signed a memorandum of understanding today to announce the innovative Associate Degree Nursing Preferred Candidacy Middle College program, which will begin this fall.             The agreement, which was signed by ICC President Dr. Jay Allen and TPSD Superintendent Dr. Robert Picou in a formal ceremony, will promote early entry into the two-year nursing program. Qualified applicants will begin this track in their junior year.             “Graduating seniors are often attracted to the idea of ‘going away’ to experience the first year of college,” Allen said. “Many of those graduates return home for various reasons and do not have a degree.
