Registration continues for ICC summer orientation sessions Registration is continuing at Itawamba Community College for orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll for the 2023 fall semester. Recent high school graduates are required to participate in one of the sessions, which are scheduled for June 13 and 15 and July 11 and 13, all at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., all at the Fulton Campus; and June 14 at 1 p.m. and July 12 at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., all at the Tupelo Campus. Students can attend a session regardless of the location they plan to attend. However, all students, including adult learners are invited. “Among the advantages of attending an orientation session are scheduling classes early and choosing from a wide variety of options, including days, times and instructors,” said Michael Holloway, director of recruitment and orientation. “Participants will have an opportunity to connect with other new students as well as to learn more about student life at ICC. ICC graduates more than 650 during three May 12 ceremonies More than 650 graduates of Itawamba Community College crossed the stage at the Davis Event Center on the Fulton Campus, May 12, during three commencement ceremonies and were rewarded with Associate of Arts or Associate of Applied Science degrees or certificates. They were among approximately 1,000 graduates who have earned degrees from ICC this year, including Kelly Barnett of Amory, who participated during the 10 a.m. ceremony. Barnett, who majored in Business and Marketing Management Technology, said she “didn’t have the opportunity to attend college right out of high school because of personal issues, so to be able to finally complete this has meant the world to me. This time around has not been without its challenges either.” She lost her father in October 2021. “I know he was so proud I was back in school, so even though I wanted to quit, I pushed through! May 30 deadline for ICC selective admission programs May 30 is the deadline for application for four selective admission programs at Itawamba Community College. They include electrical, industrial maintenance, robotics and automation and welding. All are taught at the ICC Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Road). Selective admission programs have a limited number of openings each year and have specific entry-level admission requirements that must be met before selection for admission to the program. ICC schedules speed typing, intro to Python classes at Belden Center Registration is underway for speed typing and introduction to Python classes at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center. Introduction to Python, which meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for five weeks, begins May 15. Designed for beginners, the course provides instruction in the core concepts of Python, and students will be able to understand and complete basic programming functions. Python is a programming language that is used in data analytics, artificial intelligence and Web programming. Speed Typing meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for five weeks beginning May 16. The instructor-led, interactive class provides the best tips and strategies to enhance typing skills to improve speed to enhance employee effectiveness, regardless of career pathway.
