ICC breaks ground on innovative Connection Center

Itawamba Community College ceremonially broke ground today for its Connection Center, which is expected to open on the Fulton Campus during the 2026 spring semester.             In bringing greetings on behalf of the ICC Board of Trustees, Chairman Steve Coleman of Pontotoc called the ceremony “a celebration of the future of ICC and our continued focus on student, employee and community engagement. This outstanding facility will not only serve the students who are enrolled in 2026 but countless students and community members for many years to come.”             ICC President Dr. Jay Allen said that today’s ceremony was an opportunity to participate in and celebrate another milestone for the College since he arrived as president in 2017. “This groundbreaking is another significant milestone along this ever-changing journey. The building of this $4.9 million innovative student- and community-friendly Connection Center will provide state-of-the-art meeting space and a new dining option for all to enjoy.”             The facility, which is being built in the front portion of the Band Hall parking lot, will include a multi-use conference center space and a Chick-fil-A.             The ...

Second summer term registration now open at ICC

Open registration is underway for second term traditional and second four-week eLearning summer classes at Itawamba Community College.                 Students may register for traditional second-term classes anytime through June 25 at 5 p.m. at the David C. Cole Student Services Building on the Fulton Campus and the Academic and Student Center on the Tupelo Campus. Classes start on June 24.                 In addition, students may register for eLearning second four-week classes through July 1, when classes begin.                 Summer office hours for all college locations are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.                 For more information, email eadviser@iccms.edu.

Registration continues for ICC freshman orientation sessions

Registration is continuing at Itawamba Community College for freshman orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll for the 2024 fall semester.                 Recent high school graduates are required to participate in one of the sessions, which are scheduled for June 11, June 12, July 10, July 11, all at 1 p.m. at the Fulton Campus; June 11, June 12, July 10, July 11, all at 8:30 a.m., at the Fulton Campus; and June 13, July 9, both at 1 p.m. at the Tupelo Campus. Students can attend a session regardless of the location they plan to attend. However, all students, including adult learners, are invited.                 “Among the advantages of attending an orientation session are scheduling classes early and choosing from a wide variety of options, including days, times and instructors,” said Michael Holloway, director of recruitment and orientation. “Participants will have an opportunity to connect with other new students as well as to learn more about student life at ICC. ICC Food Management Certification class set to begin June 3 at Belden Center

Registration is underway for a Food Management Certification class that will begin June 3 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.                 The class will meet Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. through June 27.                 Highlights of the hands-on course include both ServSafe® Food Manager and Alcohol Certification, menu planning/preparation, assistance/participation in execution of catered events, résumé/interview skills and both front- and back-of-the-house operations.                 Tuition assistance could be available for those who qualify.                 For more information or to register, call Christy Scheuer, instructor, at (662) 407-1505 or email acscheuer@iccms.edu or pathways@iccms.edu.

Whitt Willis accepted into prestigious Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship program

           Whitt Willis of Madison, formerly of Amory, a recent graduate of Itawamba Community College, has been accepted into the prestigious Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship program.             In 2007, the Mississippi Legislature authorized the Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship program, creating a unique program that identifies rural college students who aspire to return to their roots to practice medicine. Academic enrichment, faculty and physician mentoring as well as solid medical school financial support through the MRPSP will enable Willis and other capable young Mississippians to address the challenge of Mississippi’s healthcare crisis.             “We are excited to have Whitt be a part of the Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship Program,” said Tabora Cook, executive director of the Mississippi Rural Physicians Scholarship Program. “His passion for rural medicine is exactly what our program and the state of Mississippi need. ICC recent graduate, Jordan Allen, selected as candidate for prestigious PROMISE program

Jordan Allen of Jackson, recent graduate of Itawamba Community College, has been selected as a candidate for the Promoting Recruitment Opportunities in Medicine with Individual Study Experience (PROMISE).             The early assurance program for economically/educationally disadvantaged students with a commitment to pursuing a career as a physician is sponsored and managed by the School of Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.             At ICC, Allen was a member of the women’s soccer team, STEM Club, Trading Post, Phi Theta Kappa and Honors College, Instructional Support Leader and Chemistry II tutor for NASA (Mississippi Space Grant Consortium) as well as 2023 Orientation Leader. Her other activities include assistance in the nursery and singing in the choir at New Jerusalem Church in Jackson. She will continue her education at Mississippi College where she plans to major in biology/pre-medicine with a minor in communication. ICC sets first summer term registration

            Registration is underway for the first term of summer classes at Itawamba Community College.             Students may register for traditional full-term and first-term classes anytime until May 23 at 5 p.m. at the David C. Cole Student Services Building on the Fulton Campus and the Academic and Student Center on the Tupelo Campus.             Classes start on May 28, and the last day to register is May 29.             Summer office hours for all college locations are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.             For more information, email eadviser@iccms.edu.

May 30 deadline for ICC selective admission programs

May 30 is the deadline for application for four selective admission programs at Itawamba Community College.             They include Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, Robotics and Automation and Welding. All are taught at the ICC Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Road).             Selective admission programs, which have a limited number of openings each year, have specific entry-level requirements that must be met before selection for admission to the program.
