Registration continues for ICC summer orientation sessions Registration is continuing at Itawamba Community College for orientation sessions for students who plan to enroll for the 2023 fall semester. Recent high school graduates are required to participate in one of the sessions, which are scheduled for June 13 and 15 and July 11 and 13, all at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., all at the Fulton Campus; and June 14 at 1 p.m. and July 12 at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., all at the Tupelo Campus. Students can attend a session regardless of the location they plan to attend. However, all students, including adult learners are invited. “Among the advantages of attending an orientation session are scheduling classes early and choosing from a wide variety of options, including days, times and instructors,” said Michael Holloway, director of recruitment and orientation. “Participants will have an opportunity to connect with other new students as well as to learn more about student life at ICC. ICC selects 2023-24 cheerleader squad Itawamba Community College head cheerleading coach Bryant Nickels has announced his 2023-24 squad based on recent tryouts. ICC's Baldwin, Strother complete MCCLA Itawamba Community College’s Dylan Baldwin of Pontotoc, director of career education, and Nina Strother of Fulton, director of marketing and community engagement, are among the 2023 graduates of the Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy. Baldwin, who joined the ICC faculty in 2013 as collision repair instructor, was promoted to his current position in July 2021. He earned the associate’s degree from ICC, the bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and the master’s degree from Mississippi State University. His honors include the 2017 Mississippi Community College Board Leadership Academy and multiple career-related certifications. He has been recently appointed as Community College representative for the Commission on Teacher and Administrator Education, Certification and Licensure and Development. ICC's Vaughn completes MCCB Leadership Academy Tonya Vaughn of Mantachie, dean of Health Science Instruction at Itawamba Community College, has completed the year-long Mississippi Community College Board Leadership Academy. The program, which provides face-to-face and virtual sessions, included a variety of learning topics, modules, book studies, lectures, role play and group discussions. An alumnus of ICC, Vaughn earned the bachelor’s degree from the University of North Alabama and the master’s degree from Western Governors University. She has been employed at ICC for 25 years, previously serving as director of the Surgical Technology program. Vaughn’s professional memberships are the Association of Surgical Technologists, Mississippi Board of Nursing, Association of Surgical Technology (curriculum writing team), Association of Career Technical Educators, Career Technical Officers Association and advisory committee for Pontotoc and Itawamba County Allied Health. ICC schedules "Spooktacular," summer drama camp Registration is underway for “Spooktacular,” a summer drama camp at Itawamba Community College, which is scheduled for June 5-9 from 9 a.m.-noon at the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center at the Fulton Campus. The camp includes classes and performances focused on such literature as “Creepy Carrots,” “The Jabberwocky,” “Macavity the Mystery Cat” and “What Are You Scared Of.” Students who are leaving second through eighth grade are eligible to participate.
