ICC to offer Intro to Welding and Cutting

            Registration is underway for Introduction to Welding and Cutting, which will begin Feb. 2 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.             It meets from 6-9 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, through Mar. 4.             The class is designed to gprovide entry-level skills in welding and cutting as well as to prepare students to do very basic GMAW and SMAW welding jobs that some industries and small businesses require. This class can also be useful to the small farmer or business owner who has many do-it-yourself projects since different types of welding are emphasized. The class includes a basic introduction to oxy-fuel cutting, welding safety, voltage regulation and setting wire feed speeds as well as a lot of “hands-on” practice. Students will also learn to discuss and apply proper safety procedures for welding, practice safety procedures for both GMAW and SMAW welding operations as well as oxy-fuel cutting operations.             For more information or to register, contact Josh Gammill, Pathway Coordinator, at jegammill@iccms.edu, or call (662) 407-1569.

ICC schedules 2021 spring open registration

            Itawamba Community College has scheduled open registration for the 2021 spring semester.             Options include Jan. 6 from 4-7 p.m., Jan. 7 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Jan. 8 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Academic and Student Center at the Tupelo Campus; and Jan. 7 and 8 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Advising office on the second floor of the David C. Cole Student Services Building at the Fulton Campus.             Traditional full-term day and first eight-week classes begin Jan. 11; and eLearning full-term and first eight-week classes, Jan. 19.             Recent high school graduates are required to participate in one of the orientation sessions, which are scheduled for Jan. 6, 7 and 8, by registering at iccms.edu/orientation.             Financial aid is available, as well as adult learner scholarships.             Academic, career education, eLearning (online) and workforce opportunities are available in an extensive schedule, which includes both day and evening classes at Fulton, Tupelo and Belden. ICC Food Service Pathway class set to begin Jan. 11

            Itawamba Community College has scheduled a Food Service Pathway class at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) beginning Jan. 11.             Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through Feb. 5.             The program includes Serve Safe® Food Manager Certification, Serve Safe® Alcohol Certification, CPR, certificate of completion, proper food handling standards, kitchen safety practices, culinary techniques, interview skills and résumé building, money handling and front of the house and back of the house operations.             For more information or to register, contact program director Christy Scheuer at acscheuer@iccms.edu or (662) 407-1505; or pathway coordinator Josh Gammill at jegammill@iccms.edu or (662) 407-1569.

ICC pathway programs set to begin in January

            Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for several pathway programs that are scheduled to begin in January.             They include January 11 – Certified Nursing Assistant (Mondays/Wednesdays, 5-9 p.m.), Food Service Pathway (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.), Medical Administrative Assistant (Mondays/Wednesdays, 5-9 p.m.); and January 12 – Business Office Specialist (Tuesdays/Thursdays, 5:30-9:30 p.m.), EMT Basic (Tuesdays/Thursdays, 5-10 p.m.), Introduction to Welding and Cutting (Tuesdays/Thursdays, 6-9 p.m.) and Pharmacy Technician (Tuesdays, 6-9 p.m.).             For more information or to register, contact Josh Gammill, Pathway Coordinator, at jegammill@iccms.edu or call (662) 407-1569. ICC's Practical Nursing students receive pins, lamps during commencement ceremony

            Several area residents received their pins and lamps from Itawamba Community College’s Practical Nursing program at 6 p.m., Dec.7, at the Davis Event Center at the Fulton Campus.             Graduates include Claudia C. Bounds, Kimberly H. Renfro, both of Amory; Rebecca D. Hopkins of Dumas; Cheyenne L. Cox, Stephanie N. Oliver,  Carlee A. Samples, all of Guntown; Hope A. Wallace of Mantachie; Amanda G. Pannell, Erica E. Wood, both of New Albany; Amber N. Evans of Plantersville; Monica Grant of Pontotoc; Jennie M. Foster of Randolph; Jennifer L. Sykes of Ripley; Taylor E. Barnhill, Teran M.
