Spring, summer orientation registration to begin Feb. 3

            Online registration for all spring and summer orientation sessions at Itawamba Community College will begin Feb. 3.             All sessions are free.             Incoming freshmen with ACT scores of 24 and above are invited to participate in the Apr. 13 honors session, which begins with registration at 1 p.m. in the Band Hall at the Fulton Campus. The schedule includes welcome, both parent and student orientations, student advising and ID and shirt pickup.             Additional sessions for all students include Fulton Campus – Apr. 24, May 15, June 12 and July 14, all at 8:30 a.m. and June 9 at 1 p.m. and Tupelo Campus – Apr. 17 at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.; May 1, June 16 and July 10, all at 8:30 a.m. and June 18 and July 16 at 5 p.m.             Students can attend an orientation session regardless of the location where they will take classes during the fall semester.             “Among the advantages of attending an orientation session as soon as possible are scheduling summer and fall classes ...

ICC 2020 Most Beautiful Pageant set for Feb. 18

            The 2020 Itawamba Community College Most Beautiful Pageant is scheduled for 7 p.m., Feb. 18, at the W.O. Date change for Food Service Pathways class

            Itawamba Community College has scheduled a six-week Food Service Pathway class at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) beginning Jan. 21.             Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through Mar. 3.             The program includes Serve Safe® certification, certificate of completion, proper food handling standards, kitchen safety practices, culinary techniques, interview skills and résumé building, money handling and front of the house and back of the house operations.             For more information or to register, contact program director Christy Scheuer at acscheuer@iccms.edu or (662) 407-1505; or pathway coordinator Josh Gammill at jegammill@iccms.edu or (662) 407-1569.

Alumni Association, I Club members invited to appreciation night

           Itawamba Community College Alumni Association and Indian Club members are invited to attend an Appreciation Night, from 5-8 p.m., Feb. 3, in the Davis Event Center hospitality room on the Itawamba Community College Fulton Campus.             Members of both groups will receive free food and admission to the ICC/Northeast basketball games and can visit with ICC coaches, administrators and staff. ICC's Celebration of Unity programs set for Feb. 4 at both Fulton and Tupelo

 Itawamba Community College’s Student Government Associations and Student Activities have scheduled Celebration of Unity programs at both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses, Feb. 4. The Tupelo Campus program will be at 12:05 p.m. in the student presentation room of the Student Support Center, and the Fulton Campus event will be at 7 p.m. in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium. Juanita Floyd, vice president of finance and administration for the CREATE Foundation and co-author of “Summer of 1969,” will be the speaker for both programs. She has been employed with the Foundation for almost 35 years. The Foundation established the Bernice Gambrell Endowment Fund in the amount of $10,000 to honor both Floyd on her 20th anniversary as well as her mother. She is active in community affairs, serving on several boards. Floyd was the Tupelo PTO President and was selected “Parent of the Year” in 2008. In August 2019, she was selected as one of Mississippi’s Most Influential African Americans. ICC receives $500,000 in grants to enhance Industrial Maintenance and implement Robotics/Automation Control

            Itawamba Community College has received $500,000 from two grant sources to enhance its Industrial Maintenance associate degree program as well as to implement Robotics and Automation Control Technology at the Belden Center.             The grants of $250,000 each were from the Appalachian Regional Commission/Three Rivers Planning and Development District and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act – Governor’s Reserve Funds.             Administered by the Mississippi Department of Employment Security, the Governor’s Reserve Funds support employment and training activities.             According to Barry Emison, dean of career and technical education, the funds will be used to purchase five Yaskawa robotic trainers and two automated manufacturing simulation trainers. “This will afford ICC students the opportunity to learn the advanced skill sets found in today’s automated manufacturing and distribution facilities.”             Emison said that the new program, which is scheduled to begin in August, is expected to increase the number of high-skilled technicians for high-demand jobs in ICC’s five-county service ...

Spring semester registration continues

            Open registration at Itawamba Community College for the 2020 spring semester is continuing.             Students can register for spring semester classes through Jan. 14 for full-term traditional classes and January eight-week traditional and eLearning terms; and Jan. 17 for full-term eLearning classes, but a late registration fee of $15 will be assessed. However, class selection could possibly be limited.             Registration is available at the Student Support Center at the Tupelo Campus weekdays from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. except for Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and the David C. Cole Student Services Building at the Fulton Campus, weekdays from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.             Traditional day classes begin Jan. 8, and eLearning classes, Jan. 13.             Individuals who have earned some college credit but insufficient hours for a degree can receive information about the statewide Complete2Compete initiative during a scheduled open registration session, which is designed primarily for returning adult learners, on Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Tupelo Campus in the Student Support Center.
