Mississippi Minute screening set for Sept. 7 The Itawamba Community College Film Club will screen “Mississippi Minute” at 6 p.m., Sept. 7, in the W.O. Benjamin Fine Arts Center auditorium at the Fulton Campus. Members of the Film Club worked with New Jersey producer PJ Leonard on the project, which was primarily filmed in Tupelo in late December. “Mississippi Minute” premiered during the Tupelo Film Festival in April. Leonard will be at the screening to discuss upcoming projects. The event will be a fundraiser for the organization’s next film production. Regular admission is $10, and student admission, $5. Forklift train the trainer class Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for a forklift train the trainer course. The class includes an overview of the program; types, features and physics; inspecting the vehicle; operating the truck; load handling; LPG for lift trucks; safety concerns; specific workplace training and battery and charging. Participants will receive certification upon completion of the class, which will meet from 8-11:30 a.m., Aug. 14. Cost is $65. Little, Hoing, Sheffield earn MHIMA awards, honors Itawamba Community College’s Health Information Technology instructor Lori Little of Fulton and students Misty Sheffield of Fulton and Claudia Michaela Hoing of Thaxton have received awards and honors from the Mississippi Health Information Management Association. Little was the recipient of both the 2018 Educator and Mentor awards, and Sheffield and Hoing were presented MSHIMA scholarships for outstanding academic performance. Little earned the associate’s degree from ICC, bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and master’s degree from Union University. Her professional honors and activities include HOSA Adviser of the Year, Leadership Itawamba, AHIMA first year delegate, MSHIMA member liaison, Northeast Council president and a member of numerous college committees. Little is a member of Bethel Baptist Church and also an instructor for adult basic education. She and her husband, David, have two children, Cassidy and Cooper. ICC schedules fall '18 registration Open registration at Itawamba Community College has been scheduled for the 2018 fall semester. Dates and times include Aug. 8 from 4:30-7 p.m., Aug. 9 from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and Aug. 10 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Student Support Center at the Tupelo Campus; and Aug. 9-10 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Administration Building at the Fulton Campus. It is possible to register for fall semester classes through Aug. 17 for traditional classes and the August eight-week traditional accelerated term; Aug. 21 for the August eight-week eLearning accelerated term and Aug. 24 for full-term eLearning classes, but a late registration fee of $15 will be assessed. However, class selection could possibly be limited. Traditional day classes begin Aug. 13, and eLearning classes, Aug. 20. 2018 Alumnus of the Year, Athletic Hall of Fame Nominations are being accepted for the 2018 Alumnus of the Year and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees at Itawamba Community College through Aug. 3. Those selected will be honored during homecoming activities Oct. 18 at the Fulton Campus. Criteria for selection for Alumnus of the Year include successful completion of at least one semester as a full-time student at ICC five years prior to the current year and merit and achievement which have brought fame and honor to either his/her community or ICC. ICC’s Athletic Hall of Fame honors former athletes, coaches or individuals who have excelled or those who have made major contributions to intercollegiate athletics while attending or employed by ICC. ICC offers second Culinary Camp for Kids Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for a second Culinary Camp for Kids, which is scheduled for July 24-27. Students who will be in grades 4, 5 and 6 in the fall can participate in the camp, which will meet from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Highlights include proper kitchen hygiene and safety, healthy kid-friendly recipes as well as team-building, organizational and etiquette skills.
