CPRAM awards

Forklift Operator Training

            Registration is underway at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center for a class in forklift operator training.             The class will meet from 8 a.m.-noon, June 7.             Highlights include OSHA safety instruction, forklift simulator practice, safety check protocol, hands-on driving, and loading and unloading operation. Music Man Johnny

The Early Childhood Academy at Itawamba Community College will present Music Man Johnny from 1-2 p.m., June 20, in the Multipurpose Building at the Tupelo Campus.             Participants will have an opportunity to enjoy learning about music through interactive musical entertainment, including playing instruments and songwriting.             There is no charge.             For more information, call (662) 620-5370.

Second Food Service Pathway class set to begin May 29

            Registration is underway for a four-week Food Service Pathway program to begin May 29 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center.             Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.             The program includes Serve Safe® certification, certificate of completion, proper food handling standards, kitchen safety practices, culinary techniques, interview skills and résumé building, money handling and front of the house and back of the house operations.             For more information, contact program director Christy Scheuer at acscheuer@iccms.edu or (662) 407-1505.    

ICC names resident assistants for fall semester

            Itawamba Community College has selected its resident assistants for the 2018 fall semester.             They include Tiffany Gladney of Aberdeen; Suni Holloway of Amory; Boyce McKinney of Byhalia; McKenzie Cooper, Gregory Tucker, both of Fulton; Amber Thomas of Golden; Peyton Blair of Greenwood Springs; Hannah Faith Cox, Reagan Newton, both of Guntown; Brody Clayton of Iuka; Carter Wood of Mantachie; Sharnae Mosely of Nettleton; Jake Nelson of Okolona; Addison Grace Mims of Oxford; Andrew Scott, Dawson McCord, Nick Montgomery, Chris Lamb, all of Pontotoc; Jessie Collums of Randolph; McKenna Lindsey of Saltillo; Jakeba Kimble of Smithville; Maddie Morris, Diamond Montgomery, Reagan Price, Donovan Strader, all of Tupelo; and Alexis Wharton of Vernon, Ala.             ICC has seven residence halls, Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe, Monroe Annex, Pontotoc and Sheffield.

Armstrong challenges 2018 graduates

            More than 600 graduates of Itawamba Community College crossed the stage at the Davis Event Center on the Fulton Campus May 12 during two commencement ceremonies and were rewarded with Associate of Arts or Associate of Applied Science degrees or certificates of completion.             They were among approximately 800 graduates who have earned degrees from ICC this year. Although each graduate’s journey is unique, there were commonalities. In fact, 56 graduates spent 11-20 years in pursuit of the degree, and five invested more than 25 years to reach this point. About 30 percent of the graduates are the first to earn a college degree in their family, and 55 shared the 2018 ceremony with a cousin, sibling, parent, aunt, uncle, son, daughter, spouse and a fiancé.             During both ceremonies, ICC alumnus and Tupelo native Dr. Ketra Armstrong, who is a tenured professor in the school of Kinesiology in the Department of Sport Management of the University of Michigan, shared her life story as a challenge to the graduates. “This (ICC) is home,” she said. “Life takes you around the ...

2018 summer open registration

Open registration for the first and full summer terms as well as eLearning classes at Itawamba Community College is scheduled for May 25 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses. Locations are the Registrar’s/Admissions office on the Fulton Campus and the Student Services Building on the Tupelo Campus. The deadlines for late registration include May 31, first term and both traditional and eLearning full-term classes. Classes including first-term day, traditional full-term evening and online full-term and first four-week begin on May 29.
