ICC's enhanced Summer Edge program offers tuition free up to six hours and waived fees

Itawamba Community College is continuing its Summer Edge program, and the enhanced version will offer all students an opportunity to take up to six credit hours (two three-credit hour classes) with tuition and all fees waived.             Classes include both online and face-to-face.             “Itawamba Community College is committed to student success and has worked diligently over the past two years to ensure all students are receiving the resources they need to be successful,” said ICC President Dr. Jay Allen. “We feel that this is a significant opportunity to reengage/engage students who continue to experience economic barriers due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will enable students to get an edge in classes through quality instruction at ICC. That is our continuing commitment.”             ICC’s summer schedule enables students to take classes they need or those that will enable them to have an edge in their college career. ICC Small Ensembles concert set for Apr. 12

            Itawamba Community College’s Small Ensembles will perform in concert at 7 p.m., Apr. 12, in the Band Hall on the Fulton Campus.             The groups include Mixed Woodwind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Rush Hour Saxophone Quartet, Brass Ensemble and Steel Band.             Members of the Mixed Woodwind Ensemble include Gracie Whitt of Fulton; Jared Brownlee of Mooreville; Kinley Lindsay of Oxford; Max Wright of Randolph; and Cheyanne Cassler of Saltillo.             The Percussion Ensemble members are Eliseo Fernandez of Algoma; David Sloan of Columbus; Caleb Murrell, Mason Ruffin, both of Mantachie; Emma Worsham of Mooreville; Mikey Coleman, Leslie Torres, Elizabeth Willis, all of Pontotoc; Jeffrey Wells of Taylor; Sam Young of Vernon, Ala.; and Taylor Doss of Winfield, Ala.             The Rush Hour Saxophone Quartet includes Eliseo Fernandez of Algoma; Clay Tyson of Lake Cormorant; Jared Brownlee of Mooreville; Nathaniel Hawkins of Pontotoc; and Max Wright of Randolph.             Members of the Brass Ensemble are Madeline Martin of Amory; Alyssa Pankow of Ecru; Destiny Holmes, Jordan Laney, Preston Cox, all of Fulton; Taya Baggett of Hamilton; Mason Ruffin of ...

ICC schedules Food Service Pathway class to begin Apr. 4

            Itawamba Community College has scheduled a Food Service Pathway class at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Rd.) beginning Apr 4.             Classes will meet Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through Apr. 29.             The program includes Serve Safe® Food Manager Certification, Serve Safe® Alcohol Certification, CPR, certificate of completion, proper food handling standards, kitchen safety practices, culinary techniques, interview skills and résumé building, money handling and front of the house and back of the house operations. ICC film student work set for Friday screening in Oxford

A screening of ‘The Quest for Justice: NMRLS Oral History Project” by Itawamba Community College’s film students will be from 2-3 p.m., Mar. 25, at the Malco Theatre in Oxford.             The film is a multi-year project with the North Mississippi Rural Legal Services for which ICC’s students received a Mississippi Hills Heritage Area Alliance grant to complete.             ICC students who worked on the project include Telexus Miller of Aberdeen; Justin Gary of New Albany; Ryan Perich, Dylan McCalla, Patrick Raiford, all of Saltillo; Caleb Hall of Pontotoc; Bailey Phillips, Hannah Bland, Cierra Tucker, all of Tupelo; Makel Gandy of Okolona; Chloe Robinson of Tishomingo; Bryan Rosenberg of Southaven; Haley Hicks of Caledonia; Logan Mullen of Oxford; Jenna Campbell of Vardaman; Dayton Shegog of Hernando; Peyton Tackett of Hamilton; and Mary Moore of Red Bay, Ala.             Tickets for the screening, which is during the Oxford Film Festival, are available for $16 each at https://www.ox-film.com/schedule-film-guide.             The Oxford Film Festival requires all ticket and badge holders to show proof of a completed COVID-19 vaccination regimen to enter any indoor screening or event.             ...

ICC students among state art competition winners

            Three Itawamba Community College students are among award winners in the 2022 MCCAIA State Student Art Competition hosted by Jones College in Ellisville.             They include Kaitlin Stegall of Pontotoc, first place in drawing for “Plum Tea” and honorable mention in drawing for “Caleb’s Sunset;” Mia Coggin of Nettleton, third place in painting for “Cooper Dyes His Hair” and honorable mention in graphic design for “Eye Eye Captive;” and Elliana Parker of Saltillo, honorable mention in 3D design for “Patterned Gogh.”             More than 170 pieces of art are featured from students competing in eight categories from painting and mixed media to drawing, 2D design, 3D design, digital/computer art, photography, printmaking and ceramics.             Additional ICC students who participated include Taylor Braxton of Amory; Bayleigh Caldwell of Caledonia; Olivia Jones of Mantachie; Michaela Pearson of Pontotoc; Camille Campbell and Ana Chambers, both of Tupelo.             ICC students competed with full-time students from Copiah-Lincoln Community College, East Central Community College, East Mississippi Community College, Hinds Community College, Holmes Community College, Jones College, Meridian Community College, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Northwest Mississippi ...

May 1 deadline for ICC's health science programs application

            May 1 is the deadline for the submission of applications for health science programs at Itawamba Community College.             They include associate degree nursing, diagnostic medical sonography, emergency medical sciences, health information technology, licensed practical nursing (August class), occupational therapy assistant technology, physical therapist assistant technology, public health technology, radiologic technology, respiratory care technology and surgical technology.             For more information about program requirements, access ICC’s website at www.iccms.edu or call (662) 620-5239.

ICC schedules April adult education orientation session

Itawamba Community College will enroll new adult education students with a three-day orientation session, Apr. 5-7, at the Belden Center (3200 Adams Farm Road).             Each session will begin at 8:30 a.m. Participants must have a photo ID, and 16-/17-year-olds should be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a withdrawal form from the most recent school attended. ICC's Dean, Ward selected as prestigious Coca-Cola 2022 Academic Team Scholars

            Haley Dean of Saltillo has been selected as a Gold Scholar on Coca-Cola’s 2022 Academic Team, and Ely Ward of Mooreville, Silver Scholar.             The last time that ICC had Gold and Silver Scholars was in 2016, according to Robin Lowe, Phi Theta Kappa contact adviser. “We are excited to have, once again, two Coca-Cola Scholars this year. These students remind us that the power of resiliency overcomes the toughest obstacles, and they are leaving a lasting legacy to inspire future ICC students.”             Dean is majoring in mechanical engineering at ICC, where she is the vice president of scholarship for the Phi Theta Kappa Upsilon Sigma Chapter; member of the Honors College, Baptist Student Union, Science Club and Indian Delegation; president of the Student Government Association and a previous Orientation Leader. Dean is also a Supplemental Instructor and a student worker in the Telecommunications and Information Services Department.             Registration for a four-week eLearning session is continuing at both the Fulton and Tupelo campuses of Itawamba Community College.             Classes begin on Apr. 11, which is the registration deadline.             ICC offers academic, career education, workforce and eLearning classes.
